      Yep. Seeing them live is like a constant barrage of amazing hit-songs, one after another. Incredible. In particular the Steel Wheels tour: I wasn’t yet a huge fan at that time-just a casual one, and EVERY single song they played was a very recognizable hit. It really drove home to me the breadth of their back-catalogue…and got me even further into the band.

    I think Keith Richards is very underrated, because Jagger is the frontman.
    Considering both of them, I think Keith is the musical genius of the 2, and
    Mic, a great entertaining frontman, and they compliment each other well.The
    combination of them both, makes the Stones. Just like Lennon and Mcartney.
    With Jagger, you put a couple coins in him, press the on button, and he's good
    to go for at least 3-4 hours.

    • @lyoelin
      @lyoelin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Keith comes up with riffs, Jagger comes up with the melodies, lyrics, song structure, probably man of the chord changes. I'd crown Jagger the primary writer of the duo.

    • @TheBearBiffo
      @TheBearBiffo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I don't think Keith as underrated at all. I think most rock fans know that in that run between 63-72, he was largely responsible for some of the greatest rock songs ever. Even Mick would admit that but Mick tends to undersell his own musical contributions. They needed each other.

      @@TheBearBiffo Glad to know he's recognized, but
      Jagger gets all the attention, and title of
      Sir. I think they should give Keith that title
      as well. His other claim to fame, is that he
      has defied medical science, and his body
      keeps on ticking along, after all what he's
      put it thru. I'm glad fans understand the
      musical talent he has.

    • @apbeauregard
      @apbeauregard 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've never found that anyone thought Keith was less than Mick, or in any way underrated. I mean... Johnny Depp even based his pirates character on Kieth. That's anything, but what happens to ppl that r underrated. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Also, Mick isn't just the front man, don't underste him. He oversees all of the bands financial affairs. He's also a genius at marketing, and those lips 💋, the stones trademark, are his lips, even if someone else drew them. ☺ And Paul and Lennon where nothing like Mick and Kieth, because their band didn't stay together and they went permanently solo. Mick and Kieth still have their band in tact. Totally different ppl.

      Always loved these two and the band but Keith's book was a massive betrayal. You think Mick couldn't throw him under the bus in a tell-all if he wanted to? If it wasn't for Mick the last 40 years, Keith would be a while heck of a lot poorer. Imagine if Mick let himself get in the same shape Keith is in?

    • @LexwellLavers
      @LexwellLavers 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@TheBearBiffo Mick fizzled at his solo career in the 1980s. Mick was never going to be as big as the Stones. Jagger was smoking heroin when he met Jerry Hall. The Stones are done when Mick or Keith are done. It's over after that. These guys approach life very different but are great when it comes to writing music together.

    • @TheBearBiffo
      @TheBearBiffo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@LexwellLavers
      The solo career of either of them is irrelevant. If Mick hadn't taken care of the touring and sponsorship and all of that stuff while Keith had transformed from a junkie to a drunk, there would have been no mega tours. Basically they have been doing the same tour every few years since Steel Wheels. Without Mick staying in shape to be able to work those massive stages, those tours don't happen. Last two I saw, which were on the Bigger Bang tour, Keith's playing, due to arthritis, was inconsistent to say the least. Not the case with Mick who delivers every night.

According to McCarthy, he & Lennon almost went on Saturday Night Live for like $1000 when it was offered to the them by Lorne Michaels as a joke. I can easily have seen them reuniting for a couple of charitable causes like Live Aid, or Live 8. But some scumbag had to cowardly stalk, & shoot an unarmed man in the back for no reason!

    Now I know this might sound simple here. Two friends writing a song together is kind of like a sing along. One time I was at an outside bar on Key West. There were several other guys there. I played the Stones song: "Heart Breaker, With Your 44" ( ref: Goats Head Soup album), on the juit box at this bar. One guy smiled, and sang along to: "doo, do, do, da do Doo", and all of us sitting at the bar joined in. It's a sing along folks, just follow the bouncing ball.

      I am very suspicious as to whether these songs are truly truly written by the artists. He sounds too confused to be able to write songs, and he doesn't give a concise answer.

    Do you know why he’s uncomfortable? Because he twisted the facts a bit. Well the truth is that Keith mainly writes the music and Mick the lyrics. This means that Keith is the creative mind and heart of the Stones and not Mick.

      Frank Anda -What part of they are a song writing team do you not understand? Do you really think Keith would give Mick credit & 1/2 the money for publishing royalties if Mick wasn’t contributing to the song writing process? Even when they were nominated into the Rock Hall of Fame, Mick had a well prepared speech. A list of the folks he wanted to thank & stressed how proud he was of songs that both he & Keith created!

    The Stones are not really that great of musicians or songwriters.
    Yes ..... I said that.
    Their great fame is largely due to an audience that can relate to such mediocrity..... and this comment section bears witness to the fact.

      How many songs have you written that an entire stadium of people sings along with, word for word, even though most of them never learned the lyrics from a written source?
      Can you hit one single chord on your guitar while you're still at the side of the stage and not visible yet - and everybody in that stadium knows it's you, not the other guitarist in the band, not the roadie checking your instrument?
      How many drum patterns that every professional drummer in the world calls by your name have you invented?
      Most importantly, why am I reacting to a dumb obvious trolling attempt?

      @@henrygvidonas9573 I’m having a little trouble understanding why you are using the point I made about the fame the Stones have in a rebuttal against that point ?
      I said that they have had large success and gained great fame because such large audiences have responded to their music by following them in such large numbers.
      They’re not necessarily great because of their music as compared to the world’s greatest composers.
      Rather, they have a large following. Which means money.
      Then you tell me that they are so great that they have a large following... ????
      I just said that. Thanks 😊
