Sylvia was a genuis. She met her match in Hughes but he abandoned her instead of trying to help her. She had her demons and her tragedy was predictable but it wasn’t inevitable. Hughes was a monster. The woman he left Sylvia for killed herself The same way and the child that she had with him. How does someone cope with that. Two wives in a row both commit suicide the same way. Says something about Hughes character
What we’ve been taught to forget, is that SOUL, the true self, is eternal, never dies. There is no RIP. My sister committed suicide, & most ppl who do that need to return to a new incarnation, as a baby right away. My sister let us know she was back about five months after she died. We wish there was an easy way out of the messes we find ourselves in, but there isn’t. The new incarnation is likely to be more difficult, like being born in a very poor country where ppl struggle to have food & shelter. People in Haiti give their kids away to be slaves, bc they don’t have the money to feed & clothe the kids. It’s called Restavek. My son committed suicide as well. For every heart u break when do this, you pay for it on the “other side”.
Sylvia's accent in the recordings wasn't her real accent. She affected a Transatlantic accent (similar to Katharine Hepburn) for the BBC and other recordings and interviews that her family and old friends didn't even recognize. Her classmates at Cambridge described her as sounding very American.

Gwyneth was wonderful in this film, but I will never understand why she didn't adopt Sylvia's accent instead of using her regular voice?

There are recordings of Plath's natural speaking voice that is different to the affected accent Plath used when reciting her poems.
I have never really connected to this film and I think that's why. I believe Ms Plath deserved the very best. 🤷🏾♀️

I know it is a Hollywood film, but having such good looking actors, make it seem sort of silly that she killed herself.
