Jung Yup looks for employment as a lawyer in a Seoul law office. Given that Jung Yup is from a smaller city, it's not as simple for him. He starts working for a child welfare agency in his hometown in the interim. He meets 10-year-old Da Bin at the police station when he travels there with a coworker from the child welfare agency. Ji Sook allegedly choked the young girl around her neck, according to the girl's police report, but Jung Yup was powerless to intervene. Her family get Da Bin back. Da Bin starts paying daily visits to Jung Yup at the child welfare facility with her 7-year-old brother Min Joon. To keep his employment, he tries to spend time with them. Although Jung Yup is aware that his stepmother abuses the kids, he can do little to stop it. Then, Jung Yup finds that a Seoul law firm has engaged him. Without saying farewell to Da Bin and Ji Sook, he departs for Seoul. He learns via phone call one day that Da Bin had murdered Min Joon, her younger brother.
