2016 Subaru WRX P.O.V Review; Is This Perhaps The Best Daily Driver?

  • I was lucky enough to be given a 2016 WRX for 24 hours. During that time, I decided that this is perhaps the best daily driver in the performance category for under $30,000. I can't wait to drive a STI and Focus RS to compare those two cars! Thank you for watching!

    Just picked up a '16 Base last night. I haven't driven it much yet, but I've enjoyed it thus far. I got a lot of excitement watching this and other POV videos many times in the last three months leading up to my purchase.
    P.S. I don't vape.

    Your review was good ignore the negative comments. I'm planning on buying one of these in 2 years once the equity in my current car loan is positive. I'm hoping to get a premium with karmon Hardin audio but if o have to I'll be happy with a base. Best sport sedan for the price for sure. If you do a redline clutch dump this car will hit 60mph in 5 seconds flat! Lol if you do it a lot, expect a new clutch I. 30k

      My suggestion for you is to look at used premium or limited 2016 wrx, the downside ofc is a used car. For some reason, most used wrx often carries high mileage for the year that it came out.

      Sanjay Singh how do you like it so far? I am debating to either get a wrx, or an sti as a daily. I don't drive too many miles per day (10 at most). But i still cant make the choice lol

    • @DeliciaTrini
      @DeliciaTrini 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was in the same position as you, then I watched videos that opened my eyes to how much it costs to maintain an STI. Well, I went with a used (14,000 miles on it), well maintained 2017 STI Limited, so that I could get a major discount. I'm sure you already know that the WRX does better on gas, also my car insurance went up a few hundred dollars (but I live in NYC), the ride is pretty bumpy (I heard that the WRX is not as bumpy), it's a performance car, so you may have to get winter and summer dunlop tires. I'm not going through that. I'm going to buy performance all season continentals. I'm very happy with my purchase regardless because I knew all of this going in. Should you decide to go with the STI, the minimum you should put down is $15,000. However, you're better off putting down $20,000. To me, the smart thing to do is write down your budget, and get the best bang for your buck. If money is tight, check cargurus.com and carfax.com and look at the used cars that have low mileage, no accidents and great prices. It's all about doing your homework and taking your time. These cars are not cheap, and any big investment requires taking your time and doing your homework.

    • @SychicGamer
      @SychicGamer 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Go for it. I learned manual on my friends wrx and honestly its not that bad of a clutch if its an stock/oem clutch and not a stage 1/stage 2. Oem clutch is decently dailyable

    • @InternalAffairs244
      @InternalAffairs244 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's one of the tougher manuals I've driven, but from the dealership to my house (about 15 miles) I had it down decently. Slow off the clutch, and don't be afraid of the gas pedal

    This guy compared a stock wrx to a hellcat and zo6, I'm done. I own a 2017 wrx and it's quick but don't say it's comparable to a 700 horsepower car lol

    • @Carguy1999Reviews
      @Carguy1999Reviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Zain Satti yeah, I may have exaggerated there a bit. I am not used to fast cars since my car has only 138hp, so I tend to over exaggerate power of cars. What I really meant was the fact that you can use the power a lot more so than the Z06 since that will get you jail time if you push it as much as you can with the WRX. How do you like your 2017?

    • @zainsatti4961
      @zainsatti4961 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carguy1999 Reviews you're def right about that, and its very fun to drive and a great overall car, getting a manual was a great decision.

    • @theguy1224
      @theguy1224 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a 2018 wrx and a c7 z06 lol. Definitely not comparable. I think what the guy in the video is misunderstanding or is being misled by, is the low end torque the stock wrx gives. You're basically at full boost by 2k rpm. But the car falls flat after 4500rpm or so. Any OTS map will fix this, but then you lose that low end "punch". The only gripe i have with my wrx is the terrible gearing. You're constantly shifting. 1-2 shift happens to fast so you're basically almost redlining it in 1st just to get up to speed in normal traffic. The gearing in the manual c7 z06 is perfect because you can get to 30-35mph easily in first gear without the rpm's screaming. It is actually a more practical daily driver from a gearing/power delivery standpoint.
      I still like my wrx. I just wish it was faster and had better gearing. Everything else is perfect.

    lol @ crazy fast. I have a 2018 wrx. The shit is slow man. Good car, because it's a 4 door, awd and a manual which is fun. But aside from all that, it's a slow car. And the gearing sucks. Manual is awesome but when you have to shift constantly just to get up to city speed limits, it becomes a chore. It's a good thing i leased this car becuase no way am i keeping it. I do wanna stay with subaru though so i hope they come out with a brand new redesigned wrx with a dual clutch or a good auto, NOT the CVT. Then i'm getting that for sure.
