  • Fixing Stuff and Tillage - The Lost corn and soybean Harvest Video! We (Zach) 'misplaced' (lost) this footage during harvest and we have relocated it!! We spent the morning fixing a lot of stuff and eventually did a little tillage and corn harvest in the rain.

I keep commenting on your videos but you do an outstanding job of showing everything that happens in just one day that totally throw a wrench in your plans. Having to deal with breakdowns that cause you to lose time in the field, weather etc. I appreciate your comment at the end-yes, many people who don't really know think its just sitting in the tractor and getting the job done, but that's almost the reward after dealing with all the small, sometimes big problems that are normal, yet unexpected. And trying to figure out if the tillage implement is performing as it should be can be hard. Though different parts of the country have to deal with different issues and factors, it's all hard work!!

A note about the auto steer that's probably the easiest part. But not many people know what it's like to try and fix something in a rush in the cold fingers like icicles. Trying to find a good ground on the arc welder and burn it in. I just have a massive amount of respect for family farms and farmers. As there's nothing EASY about it.

I loved the initial reason for these vids when they 1st started.. spent hours and hours watching and learning without realising even tho i live in centre of England in a concrete jungle.. but now zach gives just that and sooo much added sarcastic humour that clearly goes over lots of heads.. my favr in this is the "i like to use metric crescent wrenches when im working with hydraulics..that wasnt very tight as the ring had blown out.. lets go get this welded up .."😂😂
One of my fave youtube channels by far 😁👌

We did beans first and had a lot of running around between fields because of the weather but we got all of it. December 12th we finished cuttin corn in Brule, Nova Scotia. There were a few fields that we had to go back to a second time. Because it was too wet to get the whole field the first time. for most of the 130 acres of beans we had a auger wagon hauling to a tandem dump truck and a semi tanker to haul out to a dryer and roaster. Then for 120 acres of corn we lost the dump truck for half of it, but found 2 gravity wagon bins instead to run through a auger to a waiting live bottom truck to take it to the dryer.

Here in Southeast Missouri nobody's harvesting. They've got all the crops out of the fields. Right now it's really just no till planting or winter tillage before the ground freezes over. We still don't have any snow yet either. I get the enjoyment of taking care of horses and cows all winter. It does have its perks though. Like being able to put round bales of hay out in the field or hauling it all back to the farm.

Southeast KS. I think all of the crops are out. A lot of the wheat was planted in late November or early December. Normally it is planted after soybeans in mid October but soybean harvest was late due to the weather. My wheat at home was planted late November and has not come up yet. There is a few wheat fields that are green in the area.

I was gonna say, the autosteer part of farming is like that cause farmers don't have much time to get a LOT of ground covered and it makes it go by quicker... which means your either covering a lot more ground, or you have less time in that seat and more time dealing with the rest of your duties

Auto Steer button? That is the same one you use for cleaning out the grain dryer, or the one that you press to replace shanks on the chisel plow, or the one that press to fix the slides in the bottom of the grain bins. Farmers earned that auto steer button with blood, sweat and farm accidents over the course of time. I would never apologize for it for a second.

Farming in Alaska has many challenges as a beginner farmer that has studied in agribusiness management of technology.I just went to conference last week and we have little to no storage cold or dry.I am advocating for storage in case of emergency like nov 30 2018 Earthquake we was 3 days from running out of food the stores was wiped and fuel. The rual areas have to get food flown in to the villages. Its a battle to feed the community here and be selfseficent all year we relied on barges and food taste bad after 2 to 3 weeks on barge, not to mention dark winter little sun and -20° -40° .

NE Indiana here. We only planted soybeans this year and got done last of Nov. Had to dry most of them from 18 to 15%. We grow a lot of winter wheat and double crop sunflowers behind them we only have about 250 acres left of them but of course mother nature is not being to friendly to us. We also haven't got very much tillage done either maybe a couple thousand is all we have got done and it looks like that might be all we get done.

Nice video as always. We just finished our corn and beans. Lol better late than never. It has been a long and very wet harvest here in Western New York.the deer ate most of the beans. Way to much wildlife around here

Hi Zach, nice to see a really idealistic farmer doing his job day by day . What I´m wondering abouit is that you´r doing tillage although it rains. Don´t you press the soil too much? Cheers and Farm On; Andreas

Dryer bearings, so much fun. It always seems to be at the top of the dry bin, in the rain, after pushing hard before the rain. Last time it was the shaft for the pully and flighting, snapped in two. Had to put the torch in the loader bucket and hammer the shaft half in the flighting deeper to put a new shaft in, in the rain, on a bin roof with no platforms. #70sbin
