I am experienced at soap making. I tried your recipe (ingredients and measurements double checked). It was a total fail. I find your video does not address the method in enough detail to ensure a good start. The soap traced well. Do you stir frequently while it is geling? When I poured it into the mold, it was very liquid and 3 days later, is still very liquid. I would like to hear from others if this recipe worked for you. SAFETY TIP: when measuring lye, use a dry container.
Thank you very much for explaining everything and not keeping top secret the recipe. I like oily houses 😉- subscribed and "likes" everywhere. Blessings.
Love this and I plan to try it!.. I saw the mold you used made 6 bars, is that the number of bars you were able to make with what you put together or was it more?..Thank you, and for your videos too!
I have rose petals from my rose garden that smell really good . What would you recommend for a first time soap maker. This seems a little intensive for me for a first time .
i wish there was an explanation for adding the botanicals because despite all the detail, that part just looks like you sprinkled it on top, and im not sure how it get fully embedded in the transluscent glycerine
Was looking for something only to stumble on this..... It's lovely... New subber... Please is this a melt and pour soap making from the scratch? Thanks
What brand of immersion blender do you use? I had one that lasted for maybe 10 uses before it broke. I want a new one, but want to make sure it’s a good brand.
Dont get that $14 plastic one at least pay $50 for it. I got a wireless one and its amazing so far. Its farberware. Just make sure the base is metal not plastic. Mines went out and about exploded.
Great recipe!!! Thanks for sharing!! My grandson has eczema on his hands and could use the soap. Do you have a recipe for a lotion that he can use at school?
Hi laura, i was wondering, when you make your soaps (the ones using lye) do you use the slow cooker or stick blender, bowls, spoons etc. For food after or are these just for soap making? Ive made (sorry tried! To make lye based soap before) and it was a disaster and i thew out all the equipment i used because i was so frightened of the lye used!
You shouldn't use anything involved with soap making with food items. More for sanitary reasons than anything else. I'd worry more about your soaps getting contaminated and turning rancid, rather than contaminated your food with lye. thats if you're considering using the same equipment; but if you did, as long as everything is properly washed you don't have to worry about getting poisoned with lye.
I’m trying your recipe right now-my first attempt at making soap. I thought I had enough coconut oil because the jar said 8 Oz. But it weighed 7.2 ozs. I made up the difference with more of the shea butter-is that going to be a problem? 🧐
Hi I am shimkizi's Touch ( business name) from Trinidad and I started looking at your video and all I will say is please 🥺 continue doing your best always and I pray God Jesus Christ strength over you your house hold and all that you all do, I love it, 😘 I was saying lord 🙏🏾 I want to learn to make clear cold 🥶❄️ press soap 🧼 but I don't know, then boom 💥🤯 you pop up on my feed with exactly what I need, thank you.
Hi Laura, what percentage of water and lye ratio did you use? I followed your recipe but my soap came out clear but after three days it was too gooey to come out of the mold. So I made it into a liquid soap instead. Any suggestions! Thanks🤗
No one seems to have successfully replicated your recipe - people here are talking about how it came out gooey. Thanks for sharing - I was so excited but now I’m afraid to try it because it feels like maybe something is missing from the video
Thank you for sharing the process of making the glycerin soap. It does seem a lot of steps. I will think about trying it sometime.

I have lots of recipes on my blog: www.ouroilyhouse.com/?s=Soap+bars

Can I use a mix of olive oil and coconut oil? Also what measurements should I use for that? I want to keep all the other ingredients.

Can I add butterfly pea flowers to color the water before adding the lye to the water?
So is castle soap a good base to use instead of the lye
You have to use lye to make soap.
@@ouroilyhouse thank you so much for your quick response , I have all the ingredients now except caster oil so I’m going to use apricot seed oil
@@ouroilyhouse the lady at the hardware store told me she uses tallow instead of lye . She butchers her own cattle so she gets a lot of tallow
Can you just use measuring cups instead of a scale?

It really doesn’t get down into the soap unless you put it in the mix. The purpose is just a garnish and makes it look pretty.
Love it! Thank you!
Thank you .
Was looking for something only to stumble on this..... It's lovely...
New subber...

This is cold process, I have several melt and pour recipes on my blog: www.ouroilyhouse.com/category/bath-and-beauty/soap-bars/

I only use plain.
What do I add to my vegetable glycine soap to get rid of the film it leaves on the body? I already add coconut oil for the lather and olive oil.

Great recipe!!! Thanks for sharing!! My grandson has eczema on his hands and could use the soap. Do you have a recipe for a lotion that he can use at school?

Any other carrier oil will work!

You can use a soap calculator to adjust the measurements.
How long does it take to gel?

I love this
I made my soap the other day, but it won't get hard it's soupy and gummy what did I do wrong.

I use a soap calculator.
Please help after adding my lye to the hitted oil it's doesn't stick what is the issue
Did you measure all the ingredients correctly? Did you allow the lye and fats to cool down before mixing?
I JUST FOUND YOUR RECIPE FOR CLEAR SOAP. YOU MENTION “COCOHOL” AS BEING AN INGREDIENT. CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT THAT IS PLEASE.
What a nice words ❤❤❤
If you want to make your lye cool down faster you can do some water and ice cubes.
Thank you so much for making this video. You explained it so well
Is this a melt and pour
This is not, but I do have some melt and pour recipes too!
@@ouroilyhouse okay thanks. I will still make this it looks nice. Will look for your melt and pour also.

I Love this Laura 💖
Thank you!
But your soap is NOT clear at all??
Why is it so lumpy and thick? I'm looking for a clear solid soap I can cut neatly
Just bring it to a light trace instead if medium trace.
Commercial grade glycerine soap contains no lye. Can't you make it so its safe, like no blind soap??
All soap contains lye, it is how fats turn into soap. 😊
You used a vegetable glycerin in the recipe. Is there a way to make that from scratch?
Please can you convert it to grams
That's basic chemistry
Isn’t lye toxic?
Yes! You have to use safety gear when making any soap. Once mixed in, the lye is safe!
No one seems to have successfully replicated your recipe - people here are talking about how it came out gooey. Thanks for sharing - I was so excited but now I’m afraid to try it because it feels like maybe something is missing from the video
Would you sell me some? I have a child with eczema and child with psoriasis. I’d love to have some !
Your body is going to get drunk lol. 😅😅😅
Good lord. If Li is toxic why are we using it on our delicate skin. 🥴😳
All soap has lye in it, it is what makes soap. Once it is mixed together with the fats it isn’t toxic anymore.
Thank-you
Hi! Can I substitute alcohol with hazel?
Hi! Can I use witch hazel instead of alcohol?
You can use the soap calculator to make adjustments.
@@ouroilyhouse thank you
