No there's definitely a hint of romance there.. You can feel it between the two throughout the whole film. Even the setting is romantic. When Luna is talking to King Regis and Nyx is sort of looking at her admirably when she is talking about her destiny being her duty. It's only tension at the end of the day though since she's betrothed and has feelings for Noctis. Nyx plays her gallant knight in shining armour.. A stark contrast to Noctis.

If they did something like this for a movie most people are not going to watch, you bet your ass Square is going to drive heavily on nostalgia on the actual game lol. The radio stations playing classical Final Fantasy music, the constant advertisements showcasing cameos from other games. There's still one scene from Versus XIII that can still find its way in, and that's the original trailer with Noctis destroying an entire army of Niflheim soldiers outside the Lucian palace. Square would be INSANE if they didn't include that part in the game.
I think people over state how much the story actually changed. This is just my opinion, but the only real difference is the role Luna/Stella plays in the story and the placement of Noctis during the invasion. The storyline is still very much a "fantasy based on reality" and it still takes cues from Shakespeare's Hamlet, as was the original vision. The game feels more light hearted, because they've only showcased the early game with Noctis and his friends. Give the game time to flesh out its darker themes, and I'm sure it's not going to disappoint.
tabata might be a great director, but better than nomura ? i don't think so, otherwise they wouldn't be flashing his name in every product they make, nomura make a game that has absurd basic ( disney + final fantasy ), lol good luck making that work, and he nailed it. tabata did create great games, but he's not as creative. as an exemple, FF XV main themes are friendship, father-son relation, and the burden of a king, versus XIII's themes were sleep and death, you can figjre wich are the more unique.

We were supposed to get an Episode Nyx, and Episode Lunfreya along side Episode Ardyn in DLC Pass 2 but they scrapped the second season pass and just released Episode Ardyn.
Aversion Shipping Sure, her regular talking voice sounded nice but there was no emotion whatsoever. Even when she was apologizing for Crowe's death, there was no change in tone.
What sucks here is that as much as I love FFXV, Luna was never given proper development for me to care. I really wanted to see this kind of Luna in the game, but I understand with restrictions from the company and the development cycle it went through, removing and adding concepts of gameplay, cutscenes and characters so much was taken out from the game. I wish the actual game does end up patching more cutscenes for Luna before her death and more cutscenes explaining anything within the game.
+Moon Door: Before, I used to get annoyed at all the people saying, "Stella would've been better" because the game hadn't even come out yet and we really couldn't judge Lunafreya as a whole yet and didn't know what role she'd play in the game. ...But now that the game has already been out... yeeeeeeah, Stella was waaaay better of a character just from what we saw. I mean, I literally just went back to see the Versus XIII trailer with Stella and Noctis - which this scene is trying to replicate slightly - and in that trailer, there was real chemistry and development between Noctis and Stella and Stella was just more interesting as a character. Lunafreya and Noctis' relationship was one I could never buy. They both talk about in the game how much they love each other, yet they really only interacted with each other when they were eight years old. And then when they finally do meet as adults, she dies.
It really is a gorgeous city. The party looks amazing too, with the music. The only downside is that none of this is in the game, and Insomnia'll be destroyed by the time Noctis gets back to it.

Read numerous negative comments of the game a needed to pay expansions to fix up made me want to yell at the ungrateful commenters to see how they feel to be under the team's staff shoes. Considering that some major issues like having to meet the deadline, actual development was 3 years after rebranding with changing of some concepts due to social and contrevrsy themes, redo things from scratch, which makes 3 years a too little time to make it complete. If the team were given a year or more, there won't be complaints and only a few updates were needed to patch up minor problems.
I watched Kingsglaive before the game came out then watched it again immediately after finishing the game and its funny how much we didn't know especially about Ardyn. There's something about the way he raises his glass that seems almost sinister now.
You can hints that this was going to be a Romeo and Juliet story because despite Luna being capture by niffheim and being with them for many years it was supposed to be Luna home right there with her place and palace, setting in of the Juliet and Romeo story.
Joseph Franc i cannot believe there could be a love story between noctis and luna. They haven't seen each other for 12 years and they meet before noctis was even 10. and the scene after the post credits where they're married in the afterlife make no sense either. they don't have a single interaction or line of dialogue in the game. a strong friendship is comprehensible because they have kept talking via umbra since they were child, but a love feeling...no, just no. Luna loves him (the developers never explain how and why, making the character empty), and noctis never express any romantic feelings for her
It really bugged me that they seemed so hell-bent on making Noct and Luna this pair of star-crossed lovers ("They're so in love! Why? 'Cause they are! These 10+ year-old flashbacks prove it!!!"). I would've been totally down for just a great friendship born from this shared sense of destiny and obligation. As for Nyx and Luna, they may fall into the "valiant knight and the fair princess" cliche, but I think it works for them. They had good chemistry.

Yes they are separate both in look and personality. Devs also stated that Luna has a different personality to fit her role in FFXV. It is also hard to say what is Stella true personality considering she appears only in trailers.

There's not really a big enough market for serious animated movies, I don't think a collaboration with a company like DC/Marvel would change that. Those companies already make animated movies and they go straight to video because they know there's a limited market for a theatrical release. Granted, their animation is nowhere near this level (more Saturday morning cartoon-like), but I don't think that would make much of a difference.

When it hits you that Iedolas was in fact not lying at all, his own cities are nothing compared to Insomnia, as their entire continent is buried beneath a permanent blizzard, while getting overrun by rogue Daemons that they can't control. Iedolas was not evil, just a ruler of a dying nation, pushed beyond the edge of desperation.

Everything is clean and gleaming, (unlike the real world) With quite an impressive infrastructure and detailed decorations in both building styles and ornaments. All protected by a multi-color barrier over the city. Meanwhile Gralea is a normal looking city like our own, with no decoration at all, just sleek and uninspired buildings. Inside a huge crater with the edges of the city and many parts inside it being military based structures. The Zegnautus being cold and dead looking on both in and outside. Living in Insomnia seems like a bright and happy place with beauty wherever you look. Gralea looks grey and dead, with military installments and bases wherever you look, with a giant ship of death always hanging above the city, blocking most natural sunlight that could get past the blizzard's clouds.
@@jefthereaper there is another city on the Niflheim continent. I believe it is called Pavla , you could see it on the Chapter XIII world map, and the signboards on the train station even mentions that the train does not stop on that location. The other location is Haulhex Armoury.
Legend123 We grew to love Stella so much in just one scene between her and Noctis, and two trailers. Their was more immediate chemistry between her and Noctis than their ever was between Noctis and Luna. Let me show you how from just the information the trailers give us. Noctis and Stella. A Prince and Princess of each of their respective kingdoms who are conflicted between the goals of their countries and the feelings they grow to have with each other. Both are socially isolated for not only being of royalty but for also being able to see the souls of dead people, making their differences from the rest of the world all the more relatable to each other and thus they have a deeper relationship from that. They're forced to fight each other for their cause, making their relationship even more tragic and complicated. Also They grew up together as kids and find out at a VERY young age that they were both bound by a destiny, a destiny that may or may not be the result of their battle of principles and goals later on in life. Noctis is alluded to being conflicted over this destiny of his and the decisions he wants to face as an individual, but Stella is more steadfast and urges him to break away from his duties and live live for his own sake. There's something Noctis doesn't want to let go in light of this, which may or may not be hinting that their is a rift that would have to happen between him and Stella if their destinies and duties were to ever be pursued. Now we have all that information JUST from the trailers that were shown. Let's not count information from the developers as well or the fact that many, including me, think that Stellas design and mannerisms as a character were more appealing. Luna was good as a concept and we were going to have a dark past with her, but here's the reality of what we got. Noctis and Luna are star crossed lovers from two Kingdoms. They grew up together as children and spent time in physical contact with one another for was is estimated to be 2 years at max (tho this is still confused between the movie and Brotherhood as we only see Luna meet Noctis for the first time when he's in a wheel chair and they get separated in Kingsglaive not long after). They talk to each other only by letters (for no reason in this technologically advanced world) for 12 years with only ever having physically seen each other as kids for a very short time. Theirs a build up along the entire adventure in 15, then just as we finally reach her she dies, with only the moments right before her death as she cares for Noctis' unconscious body, and the nod of acknowledgement they give each other during her speech as the only social interactment they ever have as adults. Totaling this all up we have absolutely ZERO time AND chemistry between these two, save for maybe the romantic letters they give each other (which we don't even see). We never even get an impression that Luna was ever even INTERESTED in Noctis personally until late in the MAIN GAME when she admits his love for him. Before that they were bound together by a purely political marriage and Luna treated it only as such throughout the entire film and the most of the game as we saw it. Also Lunas lines to Noctis was the majority of the time only ever about his destiny, never about anything else. However you slice it, Stella by FAR had more going for her as a character than Luna. Everyone should feel disappointed by this, even the 15 fans

After all these years, the Versus XIII footage, XV footage, Episode Duscae, Platinum Demo, Kingsglaive, Brotherhood and XV itself.. Nyx is my favourite character from this universe. Despite everything, Kingsglaive for some reason will remain as one of my favourite Final Fantasy memories/experiences.
This movie was able to establish and develop characters with in one single scene than the entire game. And almost none of this is pertinent to the game. Shucks.
I like the normal ending. When I was playing I was rushing through because all I wanted to do was get to Luna. And when she died I cried and every time luna came up it made me more happy. So when they get reunited after life that gave me happiness/sadness.
These two really have chemistry. I don't know why but when I watch Luna and Noctis, she's more like of a sister than a love interest. But with Nyx, she's shining in my eyes lol.
I love the idea of Nyx and Luna together. In the game she also felt like a sister to me and it makes me wish they had gone that route: make Luna be Noctis' sister and raised into warriors knowing the entire world depends on them.
You two, speak my mind. That's what I felt. Even I like Nocs, I still can't see Luna harmonised with him as lover. But when she stand beside Nyx, immediately I saw that chemistry.
The movie has so many Versus XIII references like the (beautiful) scene at the Caelum Via hotel (shown in this video) but also the scene with Iedolas vs Regis. That being said, Nyx is muuuch better than Noctis under all aspects and this scene is one of the best in the movie.
It looks like the movie is foreshadowing how Luna will die at 01:18 to 01:23 I don’t think it is a coincidence they zoom out the camera like that to depict her and the aquarium

Luna looks way better in this, like she's a few years older, but with a nice face and jawline. In the game she looks bland with generic JRPG features and a soft, young appearance like she's 16 or 17, despite being around 20 or so like Noctis. And even despite still acting formal and respectful, it seems like she just has a bit more personality in the Kingsglaive movie (although part of it is definitely Lena Headey's performance). Luna in FFXV just talks like she's a robot who's there to tame gods and tell Noctis how much she'd really like to meet up with him sometime. And at least Noctis gets genuinely emotional about Luna during the game, whereas she's totally straight-faced even as she's sinking to a watery grave.

I watched Kingsglaive before the game came out then watched it again immediately after finishing the game and its funny how much we didn't know especially about Ardyn. There's something about the way he raises his glass that seems almost sinister now.

What makes this even more romantic, is that they reused the setting/meeting from the original development of the game where Luna was Stella.
You can hints that this was going to be a Romeo and Juliet story because despite Luna being capture by niffheim and being with them for many years it was supposed to be Luna home right there with her place and palace, setting in of the Juliet and Romeo story.
Nyx and luna should have had a romance. at least they spent time together. noctis haven't seen her for the last 12 years.

They haven't seen each other for 12 years and they meet before noctis was even 10. and the scene after the post credits where they're married in the afterlife make no sense either. they don't have a single interaction or line of dialogue in the game. a strong friendship is comprehensible because they have kept talking via umbra since they were child, but a love feeling...no, just no. Luna loves him (the developers never explain how and why, making the character empty), and noctis never express any romantic feelings for her
It really bugged me that they seemed so hell-bent on making Noct and Luna this pair of star-crossed lovers ("They're so in love! Why? 'Cause they are! These 10+ year-old flashbacks prove it!!!"). I would've been totally down for just a great friendship born from this shared sense of destiny and obligation. As for Nyx and Luna, they may fall into the "valiant knight and the fair princess" cliche, but I think it works for them. They had good chemistry.

I keep reading comments about Luna and Nyx, yet I’m just here admiring the setting and beauty of this scene - just imagining how delightful it would be to be amongst those watching the fireworks above a modern city like Insomnia. And listening to Somnus play in the background 👌
I always dreamed if I led a revolution or independence movement, that once we'd finally succeed we'd sign a peace treaty at a reception like this fireworks and somnus playing in the background

This movie was EPIC on the big screen! I LOVE this movie. Square need to make more movies. They need to get in the Hollywood business. What if DC and Square Collaborated.
Corey Lucas They did with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. That movie didn't make enough in the international box office to warrant anymore commercial movies from Square.
There's not really a big enough market for serious animated movies, I don't think a collaboration with a company like DC/Marvel would change that. Those companies already make animated movies and they go straight to video because they know there's a limited market for a theatrical release. Granted, their animation is nowhere near this level (more Saturday morning cartoon-like), but I don't think that would make much of a difference.

When it hits you that Iedolas was in fact not lying at all, his own cities are nothing compared to Insomnia, as their entire continent is buried beneath a permanent blizzard, while getting overrun by rogue Daemons that they can't control.
Iedolas was not evil, just a ruler of a dying nation, pushed beyond the edge of desperation.

Everything is clean and gleaming, (unlike the real world) With quite an impressive infrastructure and detailed decorations in both building styles and ornaments.
All protected by a multi-color barrier over the city.
Meanwhile Gralea is a normal looking city like our own, with no decoration at all, just sleek and uninspired buildings.
Inside a huge crater with the edges of the city and many parts inside it being military based structures.
The Zegnautus being cold and dead looking on both in and outside.
Living in Insomnia seems like a bright and happy place with beauty wherever you look.
Gralea looks grey and dead, with military installments and bases wherever you look, with a giant ship of death always hanging above the city, blocking most natural sunlight that could get past the blizzard's clouds.

I believe it is called Pavla , you could see it on the Chapter XIII world map, and the signboards on the train station even mentions that the train does not stop on that location.

Legend123 We grew to love Stella so much in just one scene between her and Noctis, and two trailers. Their was more immediate chemistry between her and Noctis than their ever was between Noctis and Luna. Let me show you how from just the information the trailers give us.
Noctis and Stella. A Prince and Princess of each of their respective kingdoms who are conflicted between the goals of their countries and the feelings they grow to have with each other. Both are socially isolated for not only being of royalty but for also being able to see the souls of dead people, making their differences from the rest of the world all the more relatable to each other and thus they have a deeper relationship from that. They're forced to fight each other for their cause, making their relationship even more tragic and complicated. Also They grew up together as kids and find out at a VERY young age that they were both bound by a destiny, a destiny that may or may not be the result of their battle of principles and goals later on in life. Noctis is alluded to being conflicted over this destiny of his and the decisions he wants to face as an individual, but Stella is more steadfast and urges him to break away from his duties and live live for his own sake. There's something Noctis doesn't want to let go in light of this, which may or may not be hinting that their is a rift that would have to happen between him and Stella if their destinies and duties were to ever be pursued.
Now we have all that information JUST from the trailers that were shown. Let's not count information from the developers as well or the fact that many, including me, think that Stellas design and mannerisms as a character were more appealing. Luna was good as a concept and we were going to have a dark past with her, but here's the reality of what we got.
Noctis and Luna are star crossed lovers from two Kingdoms. They grew up together as children and spent time in physical contact with one another for was is estimated to be 2 years at max (tho this is still confused between the movie and Brotherhood as we only see Luna meet Noctis for the first time when he's in a wheel chair and they get separated in Kingsglaive not long after). They talk to each other only by letters (for no reason in this technologically advanced world) for 12 years with only ever having physically seen each other as kids for a very short time. Theirs a build up along the entire adventure in 15, then just as we finally reach her she dies, with only the moments right before her death as she cares for Noctis' unconscious body, and the nod of acknowledgement they give each other during her speech as the only social interactment they ever have as adults.
Totaling this all up we have absolutely ZERO time AND chemistry between these two, save for maybe the romantic letters they give each other (which we don't even see). We never even get an impression that Luna was ever even INTERESTED in Noctis personally until late in the MAIN GAME when she admits his love for him. Before that they were bound together by a purely political marriage and Luna treated it only as such throughout the entire film and the most of the game as we saw it. Also Lunas lines to Noctis was the majority of the time only ever about his destiny, never about anything else.
However you slice it, Stella by FAR had more going for her as a character than Luna. Everyone should feel disappointed by this, even the 15 fans

After all these years, the Versus XIII footage, XV footage, Episode Duscae, Platinum Demo, Kingsglaive, Brotherhood and XV itself.. Nyx is my favourite character from this universe. Despite everything, Kingsglaive for some reason will remain as one of my favourite Final Fantasy memories/experiences.

I like the normal ending. When I was playing I was rushing through because all I wanted to do was get to Luna. And when she died I cried and every time luna came up it made me more happy. So when they get reunited after life that gave me happiness/sadness.

These two really have chemistry. I don't know why but when I watch Luna and Noctis, she's more like of a sister than a love interest. But with Nyx, she's shining in my eyes lol.
I love the idea of Nyx and Luna together. In the game she also felt like a sister to me and it makes me wish they had gone that route: make Luna be Noctis' sister and raised into warriors knowing the entire world depends on them.
You two, speak my mind. That's what I felt. Even I like Nocs, I still can't see Luna harmonised with him as lover. But when she stand beside Nyx, immediately I saw that chemistry.

The movie has so many Versus XIII references like the (beautiful) scene at the Caelum Via hotel (shown in this video) but also the scene with Iedolas vs Regis.
That being said, Nyx is muuuch better than Noctis under all aspects and this scene is one of the best in the movie.

I know this was supposed to be a nice homage, but honestly it just feels like a kick to the balls, especially with that Etro painting in the background.

I need to watch this movie again. This was truly one of the most detailed and beautiful parts in the entire thing. Aside from the violence and chaos that ensues.
This scene is just the repurposed version of the meeting between Stella and Noctis in the Versus XIII trailer, The Painting of Etro (Eos? Maybe) and convo between Nyx and Luna, which is just Noctis and Stella in Versus XIII Hell even the music is just the same as the one in the Original Trailer
the movie guys probably knew the game was going to be a big mess so they tried to save as much from the original ideas and gave life and love to Nyx and Luna in a way soulless Noctis and barely there Luna from the game never had

Luna looks way better in this, like she's a few years older, but with a nice face and jawline. In the game she looks bland with generic JRPG features and a soft, young appearance like she's 16 or 17, despite being around 20 or so like Noctis. And even despite still acting formal and respectful, it seems like she just has a bit more personality in the Kingsglaive movie (although part of it is definitely Lena Headey's performance). Luna in FFXV just talks like she's a robot who's there to tame gods and tell Noctis how much she'd really like to meet up with him sometime. And at least Noctis gets genuinely emotional about Luna during the game, whereas she's totally straight-faced even as she's sinking to a watery grave.
