After a five-round back and forth battle, the decision and interim title were given to Adesanya which set him up for a future title unification bout with Robert Whittaker.

Short means more power when you're fighting someone way taller who has the same weight... That's why his punches were so tough on Izzy but Izzy had the mental edge.
Izzy was just more calculated and Kelvin got sloppy towards the end. Izzy wasn't really utilizing his reach that much in this fight and stayed in front of gastelum the whole fight. I wish izzy still fought like this but now he realizes with reach he can run and never get hit

This was such a brutal war of a fight. I would say Izzy's biggest challenge in that division. Some of the strikes they were throwing and landing were absolute bombs and left me so surprised it went to a decision. Both guys showed some next level toughness in there.

Kelvin still has a forever fan in me because of this, one of the best back-n-forth fights ever, 5 rounds of pure heart from both warriors. I remember forgetting this wasn't the main event several times while watching lol

This is such an awesome fight as a fan. For friends that are wondering what the UFC is about I always show them this fight because of the tenacity of both men. Became a fan of Gastelum after this one

Was very disappointed with Gastelum going fora takedown instead of going for a kill. At that moment I was screaming my lungs out.

Looks fixed to me. Not only did he go for the takedown, but his next few punches looked intentionally lazy/pulled, and he went for leg kicks instead of headhunting.

This situation is the perfect example for Khamzat. After this tough and grueling fight Adesanya realized you can't fight like that and expect to win every time due to inexperience. The great one's always learn from the experience of these fights and become better. First they must have their heart and will tested.
Izzy built himself step by step, khamzat jumped the ladder. Also khamzat is a crowd pleaser not a technical striker

I think it's more along the lines of people calling out those who said Khamzat would dogwalk burns in 1 round. People with a brain aren't denying his skill and potential, but there were definitely a looot of individuals who were sleeping on burns and they're just being held accountable by others.

Izzy has been a different animal since this fight, he needed this hard test to walk through whittaker shortly after. Unfortunately gastelum has somewhat stagnated/declined but that’s what happens in wars, one (sometimes both) fighter is rarely the same

Even if a rematch ever happens, which I highly doubt, Izzy would use his longer reach and range control to pick him apart. No way he ever fights this way again.

@Zulu Fight Channel izzys 6th fight in the UFC was a title fight….they both had hype coming up. Izzy’s fight with gastelum was a war…..izzy ran through everyone prior to that fight. Very similar stories.
Izzy has lived up to his hype. He has nothing else to prove. Khamzat has so far but still more to prove.

Although I feel like the ref could have stopped the fight in that last round. Could have saved Gastelum a bunch of solid punches to his head and potentially his career. Even the commentators were saying stop the fight

This is in my top 3 favorite fights of all time.
Both guys brought it and showed why they're world class.
Kelvin was in Izzy's face for the whole fight and hurt him multiple times, Izzy showed his masterful striking and distance control.
Izzy also showed he could go five rounds with an absolute beast in front of him and he that could deal with adversity.
I watched it live and after it was over I said to my friends, "Izzy is gonna be world champion for sure."
I felt like he answered all the questions that people had about his potential.
However people feel about them now, there's no questions that both of these guys should be in the hall of fame for this fight.
The will live on to be - one of the best slug flight ever in the UFC history -- Period !

Gastelum is a very talented fighter, good head movement, good brawler, i think all he need to do is change his team. It feels like they lack of strategy since every opponen kelvin face was always try to play technical against him, even jared try to play safe against him.
