The footwork and balance of Conor was amazing. Max though showed some great heart and technique. You could see these were both going to be very special champions.

Watching this and seeing conor doing his things so comfortably, shows how fearful he was when facing khabib. He was literally frozen in time with only using his hands so carefully .
He had been out of the cage for 2 years, killing himself off of whiskey and cocaine. What lost that fight and ruined his career was Conor's own mindset. With that said Khabib might still have beaten even the best version of Conor, but it would've been his toughest fight.
I didn't remember that Conor got hit with some decent shots too, he just rolled a bit with them. Come to think about it, although he dominated this fight, there were some holes in his armor that Poirier exploited years later.
Gunnar Nelson was a little more known in the ufc during the timing of the fight He was a really big prospect because of his grappling/submission Mcgregor trained a lot with Nelson in Iceland leading up to this fight, and he did fight in a similar striking stance in this one
