Moved back to stockton from Sacramento last August. Its not what it used to be when i grew here in 80s-90s. Still needs alot of work. I remembered we used to stand on needles all littering the grounds everywhere at our bus stop around the stanislaus and church st areas. Used to be a crackhead park around there. Iykyk. Now theres all new development homes and all nice. If only ppl knew what ive witnessed and how many things that went down right where there house was built

Weston ranch has just as much if not more shootings than some of the rougher and older parts of Stockton. Especially the lil shopping center and at every one of the 3 parks there there’s been multiple homicides over the years. That being said RIP Tall T!

My husband and I lived in Stockton from 90-94. We moved there from San Diego when he was offered a police officer position and I was offered a nursing position at St Joseph’s Hospital. His family lived in Stockton so we were happy that we were moving so close to family after so many years away. I had never been there but he had lived there from the 60’s through the 80’s. His only warning to me when we moved there? “It’s not exactly how it seems to be…” Quite a cryptic warning. And it took me 3 months to fully understand what he meant. A sh*t pit! We lived there for 4 years before realizing how much worse it had actually gotten. Especially with him being a police officer. Never live where you work. We wound up moving to a small town 35 minutes away. Still close enough for a doable commute but far away enough to, well, just be away! And this was the 90’s. It’s far worse now but we are now both retired so breathing much easier! Anyway, this is my long round about way of saying to anyone considering it: DONT EVER move to Stockton!!!

I live in the North side of Stockton, there is another dangerous area in Stockton, which the south west side of Stockton, a park called Louis Park on Monte Diablo Ave, near Pixie Woods Park, and also right by Freeway I-5, which it's a territory of the blood Asian street gangs who commit murders for blood against their emenies. Stockton mostly gets more dangerous during the night.
Born and raised in Stockton and been seeing the dramatic decline everyday. Most issues i see has to deal with the homeless. There is literally almost no public park that doesn't have tents or someone tweaking.

Drive around at night lol. I lived in Stockton for 5 years and worked in a bank there for 20 years. Just stay away from the bad neighborhoods at night and you’ll be fine. I never had any troubles living or working there. Now when my son got old enough to go to school, we bailed and moved to Lodi. There was no way he was going to public school in Stockton lol
Why the hate for Sacramento? Sure, there's some not-so-great areas, but overall, it's got more good than bad to it. But Stockton? Yeah, it's a place I'll pass through for long distance drives, but would definitely not live there.
Western Ranch is one of the worst neighborhoods in Stockton. All the bay area moved to Western Ranch. Can't leave anything outside. The people have to be there own neighborhood watch.

the city was going around every neighborhood out here and posting warning flyers on every car that was parked along the sidewalks saying that whoever owns the car(s) parked out front had 3 days to either get rid of it or park it in our garages or else they will be back to tow them away this was several months ago that's probably, why there really isn't any cars parked next sidewalks???

Your perception of our home town is skewed… pretty houses in small parts of town don’t change the crime. Some of the areas you’ve shown are known for being just as scary. It’s not “social media”. My dad lives down the street from that Raleys, and just down the street from the mansions in morada… fox creek is a few blocks away, and we hear gunshots NIGHTLY. My dad had bullets whiz right past him. The el rancho? Porn plays on one of the channels and is HIGH drug and prostitute traffic. It’s all bad, it’s just about HOW bad.
I do wish we could live on the East side of 99 of Morada, but with inflation, no one is getting in there now, unless you have BIG money. Probably the only place I would consider living, since it’s just on the outskirts. You also mention people raising a family here, I wouldn’t rely on looks of neighborhoods alone. The schools are really rough, unless you have private or charter schools. Growing up in stockton and with children of my own, never will I raise my children there.
As somebody who stays right by Weston ranch and is from Oakland ca trust me Weston ranch can get tricky because it’s so small but at night there’s a million f*ckin shootings and Stockton pd just lets them go until someone dies smh

Actually stay in Stockton, driving through it won’t teach you anything, you will see even the nice areas have problems, those gated areas, most people are afraid to leave them. You didn’t even show a lot of the bad of Stockton, 27:10 and on is how a lot of Stockton looks.
A UOP student basically said the same thing in Episode 1 commentary. It’s very unfortunate. This fear isn’t just a Stockton issue though, it’s a state wide CA issue due to soft laws. I’m sure plenty of San Francisco residents feel the same way living in a famously “beautiful” city.

There is a Wells Fargo inside those doors and the ATM's are located right there, during peek bank hours the lines for the ATM were long causing issues with people coming to just shop. Now you have to go threw the other set of doors to get to Wells Fargo. Ive been banking there for years, Raleys closed those doors of in like 2017/2018 if memory serves right.

Ironically you didn’t even get the Spanos area were I’m at now. If you want the bad areas you should have asked a city carrier. I often had to help out city carriers with express mail and man some places I didn’t know how bad it was….

Yes. I’ve been to Gary, Indiana before and STK isn’t on THAT level but it does come close in some areas. STK has a larger populous so your chances of running into something are higher.

Years ago, when Weston ranch was built, Oakland partnered with Stockton (Weston Ranch, Manteca, Stockton etc) and paid Oakland residents to move there. Worst mistake ever. It caused crime to increase throughout the valley ten fold. They bribed the residents with welfare and discounted housing, iirc. A crime occurs every 10hr 2min is Weston ranch. It has gotten better with more neighbor involvement, but it’s still not great. There are way better neighborhoods in Stockton. Lincoln village west, Lincoln village proper, Brookside, lake view, valley oak, Sherwood etc.

Yes. I’ve been to Gary, Indiana before and STK isn’t on THAT level but it does come close in some areas. STK has a larger populous so your chances of running into something are higher.

@@privateeyetravelguy there are a lot of good people in Weston ranch, however there are also a lot of bad people there after dark. Hell, even in the daytime. Years ago, when Weston ranch was built, Oakland partnered with Stockton (Weston Ranch, Manteca, Stockton etc) and paid Oakland residents to move there. Worst mistake ever. It caused crime to increase throughout the valley ten fold. They bribed the residents with welfare and discounted housing, iirc. A crime occurs every 10hr 2min is Weston ranch. It has gotten better with more neighbor involvement, but it’s still not great. There are way better neighborhoods in Stockton. Lincoln village west, Lincoln village proper, Brookside, lake view, valley oak, Sherwood etc.

My husband and I lived in Stockton from 90-94. We moved there from San Diego when he was offered a police officer position and I was offered a nursing position at St Joseph’s Hospital. His family lived in Stockton so we were happy that we were moving so close to family after so many years away. I had never been there but he had lived there from the 60’s through the 80’s. His only warning to me when we moved there?
“It’s not exactly how it seems to be…”
Quite a cryptic warning.
And it took me 3 months to fully understand what he meant.
A sh*t pit!
We lived there for 4 years before realizing how much worse it had actually gotten. Especially with him being a police officer. Never live where you work.
We wound up moving to a small town 35 minutes away. Still close enough for a doable commute but far away enough to, well, just be away!
And this was the 90’s. It’s far worse now but we are now both retired so breathing much easier!
Anyway, this is my long round about way of saying to anyone considering it:
DONT EVER move to Stockton!!!
Thanks so much for your detailed personal experience with STK. I’m glad you’re happy outside of town at least. Plenty of nice towns on the east side. I love that entire Ione / Highway 49 area.
