Travel burn out such a good topic. I have been on the road for three years and no home base yet. It’s very challenging to have a routine. What I learned is to adjust, adapt, and keep things simple. How do you find a doctor you liked? Hairdresser? Still keep the annual dentist appointments, your wellness check, etc.? All becomes almost impossible to think about without a home base. Thankfully, through words of mouth meeting awesome people on the road, I am still going on. I consider myself living on the road more than traveling sometimes just so to have a routine, get my basic needs met, keep relationships with family and friends… thanks for sharing Lisa and Josh love you guys are being authentic and real. Would you ever consider slow travel at some point? - Michelle
The jingle is oddly lovely ... definitely keep it and thank you for another great video. I do have a question that I keep meaning to ask but never quite sure how to pose the question so I am just going to go for it. Air travel and travel in general and the resulting carbon footprint which is a factor in our ever deteriorating global climate. We (the general we) travel because we're curious, we're adventurers and explorers and we love this world and want to see as much of it as possible. We want it to keep spinning for generations to come so they can also experience the world and all it as to offer. Would love to know your thoughts on how you balance the 'cost' of the carbon footprint caused by travel? This latest video had how many flights? Should we not start looking at our travel in a more healthy way. Flying for a week here, or a few days there seems a little short sighted and dare I say even irresponsible. I know not everyone has the privilege or luxury of time to situate themselves into an area and then go by slow travel but should we stop looking at how much we can cram into a small amount of time by flying here there and everywhere for the sake of saying we've been there?
I live in Northeast Thailand (Udon Thani) and have to admit that I don't have much time for Chiang Mai or Koh Samui 😱 I personally would recommend Kanchanaburi, Petchabun, Loei and for islands Ko Chang, Ko Samed or Ko Maak for beaches. Then I'll let you have HK and Taiwan, although they're not SE Asia but Okinawa?? I would offer an alternative of Laos. Luang Prabang is an amazing place and has flights in from Hanoi and from LP you can take the new Chinese train to the capital Vientiane. From there you can fly to many other countries or you could take the bridge over the Mekong and come back to Thailand over land. The thing is though that everyone has their own likes and dislikes and there is no guarantee that someone would like the same things as I do. Thanks for another enjoyable show. All the best 🙏
You guys are the best, thanks so much for answering my question and with such detail! I should've known Josh would do a spreadsheet lol I'm with Lisa in that I wouldn't normally consider China, Japan, or Taiwan Southeast Asia, but I get it, they're so close. We did Japan and South Korea at the beginning of our one year so not sure we'll make it back over there, but looking at the map Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Okinawa being lined up is so tempting so maybe! We'll definitely do Thailand, Singapore (only a couple days on our stopover cause it's so pricey), and Vietnam. Pretty convinced on Malaysia now too thanks to your answer. Follow up question, where did you stay accommodation wise (if you liked them) in the beachy areas of Thailand and Malaysia?
Enjoyed another great video from you two. Question, how do you get around the authentication code texts from your financial institutes? Did you keep your stateside cellphone number? I am looking into the Slow Travel around the world in March 2026 and going with the eSim as you two have suggested. Thanks & Safe Travels.
Ooh 2 months in SE Asia so hard, I would also say Ipoh in Malaysia (2 hr bus from Penang) it's amazing. I concur on Bali, instead I would recommend Bukit Lawang in Sumatra (~2 hr flight from Penang into Medan) - jungle trekking to see orangutans and/or Manado in North Sulawesi (~3 hr flight from Singapore) some of the best diving in the world. Also Cambodia!!
We’re in Europe right now with a train strike for the next couple of days. It was a surprise but with no local news available it started making me think how in the world do you get local and country news as you travel or do you just play it by ear.
I got the information by talking with local people, train station, bus office, etc last time in France. My experience was not bad at all because they posted a schedule and offered alternative bus
Hi Lisa and Josh, so glad to hear that you enjoyed Vietnam so much! My friend and I are going to spend 2 and half weeks in Vietnam soon as well (flying next Wednesday to Singapore first!). We want to ask what transportation mean you recommend travel within Vietnam? We will fly to Saigon first, and plan to stop at some coastal cities, and arrive Hanoi around Christmas. We don't plan to rent a car (the distances between cities are generally too far to drive anyways) and also don't want to take to many flights in between cities (unless there are no other ways available). Not much information in English can be found on the internet so just want to see if you could share your experience / tips? thanks!
hi there! we wish our video on Vietnam was going to be out sooner in time for your trip, but the short answer is that we took mostly buses and trains to get around Vietnam, especially from north to south. There are loads of bus options available from the big cities to the smaller cities (we used 12GoAsia to look at options and book them, but there were also lots of tour companies available on the ground everywher. We also did the 12 hour train journey from the north to central Vietnam (that was definitely a long haul adventure!) I think if we did it again, we might've booked the overnight sleeper car journey instead of the day time 12 hour seats journey. Hope that helps!! :)
Do you guys count your countries visited, if so what are your numbers. Would you ever consider setting the goal of going to every country in the world or does travelling to check boxes make you cringe? Also what country is at the top of bucketlist?
Hey Lisa and Josh. I love your channel and the jingle! You’ve ask for specific questions and mine is very specific! I have been offered a job to teach in Malaysia which is my ultimate dream job, however, my husband is struggling to find a job that matches the position and money he currently makes in the UK. We are desperate to take this opportunity but are stuck on what to do with my husbands position. He is unable to transfer to a company out there and wanted to know if you had any tips for digital nomading or the best places to find ex-pat jobs. Would love any tips for what to do in this situation. Thank you!
Looking for advice, i will be in japan for 1 week in January for the first time snd hopefully not the last time. Should I juet stay in Tokyo and do a day trip or two, or also try to visit Osaka and Kyoto?
18:17 "Next destination, which is Hong Kong." I'm with Josh. A week in Hong Kong would be better than Indonesia. He's right about the day trips. But he's wrong about it being part of SE Asia. HK is not SE Asia 😊.
My partner and I sing it every time we get a notification of a new TT posting. Thanks for adding to our midlife gap year.
Please leave the jingle. It's part of your awesome branding! A little quirky/weird but 100% authentic.
Awesome episode as always. Yes! Keep the jingle. Sorry Josh but it is just something awesome and starts the video with a big smile for all viewers.
Cute reference to French Prince of Bel Air. All you need know is Carson dance 😅
We looooooove the jingle ❤

24:32 "You don't even like beaches"
I'm with Josh on this too. Beaches are just sandy and hot. 😂 Agreed!
Love the jingle, leave it! Lol! 🤣 I love watching your videos, keep it up!

Leave that jingle alone. LOL
Jingle brings me joy because how awful it is. Please don't ever change. I smile every week. ☺️
Haha love the jingle!

0:39 Jingle is terrible, but you should still roll with it. What you got to lose?🫣
