    Follow along as we assemble the Granberg Chainsaw Mill: amzn.to/2azaE06
    The exact chainsaw mill we bought was the MK-III with 36" rails.
    Putting this together, despite the intimidating schematic, was relatively simple. We did a trial run and then did it again to show you all how easy it is to put together.
    Prior to this, we were using a homemade chainsaw mill but we don't feel that it was quite up to the task of milling lumber in quantity for the building of our timber frame barn. As the weather is getting warmer, we're excited to put it to the test and to do additional chainsaw milling videos.

    Excellent video, one of the better instructual videos I've seen. You should send granberg a bill for that.

    Some assembly required. :) Thanks for sharing the sawmill build Jesse. In viewing other mills, they're really slick, but the prices. Enjoy the mill.

    Hey Jesse, thank you for sharing this video. It really helped as my saw mill came in today without the assembly instruction but a parts list that looks like I didn't have everything required (wrong or inaccurate list). Just to be sure, I found your video and with it, I realised that it came with all parts except for those flat and lock washers. However, it did come with a spare lock nut and coupling nut each, which you found missing in yours. Thanks again. Cheers

      Very fortunate to have a solid saw for sure. Planned ahead on needing a monster. This saw purrs when milling. Highly recommend.

    The push handle needs to reversed so the ergonomics work for your right hand to grip comfortably.

    I had 5 washers 1 long bolt and 1 coupling nut extra after following your instructions so I hope each of these kits is slightly different and hand counted!!!

    Thanks for sharing. We have the same sawmill setup, with a Husqvarna 3120 XP chainsaw. I have been toying with the idea of welding an adjustable height "rack" with rollers for my sawmill so that I never need to worry about if it the first cut, or the tenth... Things are just so busy on our property, so I have not even had time to test it out yet... Look forward to the time I can make my own lumber.
    BTW - Looks like you have a structural engineer inspecting your sub-floor at 17:31 :-)

    Question: will you have to treat or stain the wood used for the "hot tub deck" you've made from the fresh cut lumber ? Cheers.

    • @purelivingforlife
      @purelivingforlife  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No mandatory. It's likely we'll treat the decking with something but not the frame. :)

    Hi ; at 4:43 => locker washer ( grower washer ) + locking nut ( nylon nut ) ??? ...and a nut missing at the end of the assembly ? ....but on another channel a man shows exactly the same assembly !
    One had try a winch on the Alaskan ; it seems to work without effort .
    I see the cats are playing good !
    Have a nice day .

    • @purelivingforlife
      @purelivingforlife  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Eric Dupont Yea the schematic showed a lock nut on both the guides, but we had an extra coupling nut so...make it work right!?!
      There are some seriously ingenuitive people out there. The sky is the limit with doohickeys and thingamabobs contraptions. lol. That's part of the fun of this lifestyle. A whole lot of zip ties and duct tape!

    AHHH, the sawmill gets assembled! Awesome. I'm wondering if you skipped doing a video about the hot tub deck construction? Next time you buy something, you should unbox it, assemble it & use it all in the same video.

      +George Grant We set it up as per the instructions... guess we haven't tested it out yet so if the handle is in the wrong position we'll have to change it I guess.

    OK why is the on-off bar called an on-off bar? it doesn't appear to turn anything on or off!
    Also why all the coupling nuts? they don't appear to couple anything to anything else, surely they could all be replaced by ny-loc nuts?

    • @purelivingforlife
      @purelivingforlife  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On off bar is actually a guide for when you are coming onto and off the log to help you keep it straight. If you are using a board as a guide the on/off bar would rest against the board to keep your mill square as you enter and exit the log. Haven't tried it yet but that's the description provided and in my experience with our diy mill the hardest part is getting the mill started square and not gouging as you enter. When you do this wrong is makes a mess of every piece after that as it gets harder to correct.

    • @purelivingforlife
      @purelivingforlife  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Coupling nuts are to make things quick to adjust. The bar wrench fits them perfectly and they are all in spots where you'd want to adjust the mill. :)

  • @lol126087
    @lol126087 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you know what purpose a nyloc nut serves? I highly doubt you built this properly a nyloc over a lock washer defeats the purpose haha.

    • @purelivingforlife
      @purelivingforlife  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Had my doubts also, but that's what m the instructions show. I'm curious how frequently the bolts without lock washers or nuts will need tightened. Surprisingly those mills don't rattle and shake as bad as I thought but would be connected to a chainsaw.
