thats what alot of the big dogs say! and im looking at getting a 01 Z this week! stock..but am sure i will do headers and x pipe..just dont know what brand..
Same with the c5s in general in my opinion I actually like the fast back look better on the base c5 and since the motor is almost exactly the same I actually prefer base c5 builds
My only complaint on this video Chris, you didn't show actually installing the headers AT ALL. Headers don't just generally fall into place. That's what most people come to see in a video with a title like this and you didn't show it. Just a suggestion for any future header install videos you may do.
I found a video that does show the removal and install, it is pretty detailed, if I can find it I'll post a link. here it is th-cam.com/video/uGZRQzdDlZs/w-d-xo.html
You mean when you buy a set of headers they don’t come with a little fairy that magically installs them while you crack open a cold one? Hmmmmmm I’m rethinking my life choices now
Hey man just a heads up the mid pipe is installed upside down, (water condensation will mess up the sensors) also the rear O2 sensor wires are supposed to be crossed from left to right not straight. One of the many wonders of C5 engineering ;-)
Every Corvette from the factory should have headers. Number One bolt on improvement for all Vettes. Cold Air Intake and Corsa exhaust complete the deal.
@@George-on3zm I got kook's headers on mine. No real reason except they're very well known with a great history. See if Dupont still makes intakes. Not sure about that. Might sell them on eBay. If so, that's what I would buy. On exhaust, you can't get any better than Corsa sport or extreme.
Chris, you nerd .to wear safety glasses when working under a car. It is really easy to get dirt or rust from the undercarriage in your eyes then a trip to an eye surgeon to have it removed. I learned this lesson he hard way!
Sounds like a tractor 😂 I had a buddy that deleted secondary catalytic converters and then went with an X-pipe into Borla XR-1 mufflers -- AMAZING sound!
Whatsup Chris, just got in from work and watched your vlog with a coffee. Great work you make it look easy. Thats a lovely C5 Z06 and a great sound. Haaa your face at the end covered in dirt... Regards from rainy England.
Hi Chris, I like your channel and you have some good info! Before you end up with a permanent eye damage, you should where safety glasses when you work under a car. OR you will end up like me with a scratch in one of them and it does just like a scratch in you windshield when the sun is in your face. Keep up the good work.
Hi Chris, you might want to wear safety glasses when you are working under the car! I learned the hard way when I got rust stuck in my eye and had to have an ophthalmologist remove it!
Nice! I loved hearing my old Camaro SS with no exhaust on when I put my Corsa Catback in! Sounds like a damn Cup Car! Now to get the exhaust on my 2012 Grand Sport! Maybe just wait for headers and the works. Just tired of the OEM silence.
Great video once again Chris. When I did my exhaust the worst part was the manifolds for sure. You guys took care of it like nothing and I was ready to quit on mine after a while 😅
Chris I know this was an older video but it showed up in my feed so I watched it. Was the QuickJack all the way up? I am thinking about buying but, It looked cramped under there. Maybe camera angle but I am looking for room under the car. Like you, I don't have the ceiling height for anything but something like the QJ.
Hope you put the Oxygen sensor in the right one put them in the way you took them out left bank and right bank front or rear don’t want to mix them up. Hell just drive it with headers only , forget the “X” pipe
Im about to install my headers just waiting for them to come in. How many inches off the ground would you say i need? I dont have a lift and my jack stands go 18 inches.
Depends on what headers you got. If they install from the top, like I. This video, you should be ok. If they install from the bottom, you will need more.
@@mycorvettelife You guys did a great job. I'm thinking about getting a 2003 or 2004 C5. Maybe a Z06. I watch your videos to get build ideas. Thanks for what you do.
Craig Creegan when I did my full length exhaust it took me like 3-4hrs. The longest part is the headers for sure and most of my time was figuring out what needed to be taken off since I didn’t have a how to video or book. I’d say it’s possible to be done in an hour or two if you know what you’re doing
If you plan on doing the axle back exhaust, you have to jack the car up ridiculously high to be able to get it over the axles. I’d suggest using a lift but it’s possible (kinda dangerously) with a jack and some wood on the jack.
You guys, meaning the ones that put together good videos and make money doing it, take such stupid brain dead risks with your eye sight, not just you, others do it too. They can fix a lot of stuff on the human body, but they haven't got to eyeballs yet. Wear safety glasses!
I would like to see some more of that car. I have a C5 Base. I’m trying to order some headers and a Catless midpipe from Corvette Mods. But they haven’t replied to my email or answered my calls. Because they’re is suppose to be free shipping. But I’m curious to see how loud that setup is. And if there’s any drone.
My Corvette Life Your forgiven. There are photosphere firehouse running thru the busted out windows of a car parked in front of a hydrant...Not a pretty sight. My favorite one is of a cop writing a ticket with his foot on the bumper...priceless
This guy is working on a car that has a height above ground of 4 inchs…..With no jack stands......Are you kidding...nice lifts but no locks and air driven...hose breaks ...he is dead....okay now I will watch …...
F your Z06 a true Corvette is a convertible, you think they only made a ZO6 why see if I can do anything your Z06 can do and I have a lot more fun with mine.
The C5 Z06 is one of the best all time Corvettes in my opinion.
Yep ,i got one 👍

Yep, we realized that after we noticed the exhaust tips were offset. Will get it switched around.
Truth "If you aren't dirty and bleeding, did you really work on a car?"
Kind of like the tree falling in the woods.
Good video most enjoyable one suggestion wear protective I gear when you're under the car.

Definitely agree with commenters below about eye protection. After you’ve had metal scraped out of your eye you always wear it under a car.
...been there...done that.💀
Hi Chris, you might want to wear safety glasses when you are working under the car! I learned the hard way when I got rust stuck in my eye and had to have an ophthalmologist remove it!
thanks Chris, this is exactly what I wanted to see, if the new lift you bought gave you the clearance to remove and replace an exhaust system 👍

SS Sandman cut the exhaust on every car I have ever bought first day , including my 2018 c7
Nice Job, i did mine by myself, i can see the lift helps out alot
As particular as you've been in every video, I'm amazed you let that car off the lift.
Without having those pipes perfect.
Jay, the owner, was running short on time and had to get home.
That Z06 is INSANE clean. It's like a time capsule holy moly.

If you're not dirty & bleeding did you really work on the car? True Dat! 😉 See you in Presott in a few weeks! 2000 red/black vert
Another very helpful video my friend. Getting ready to order my headers. This will help immensely. Thank you.
The tips being out of alignment remind me of your car when you first got it LOL
Nice job. I'm sure your friend really appreciates it.
Yup, C5 life 🤣
Thanks for the instructions on how to do this. very helpful.
Is the earliest system eliminated or modified? I'm wondering if the check engine light is an issue.
Nice car...this guy is not as OCD at all. Engine bay needs some help. Did you put the plastic valve covers back with out cleaning first? Whoa...
Also just a heads up for everyone who owns a vette any time it goes up in the air open the doors. You can damage the car by leaving the doors closed
That is only in you are lifting one aide or one corner of the car. If you are lifting the entire car evenly it is unnecessary.
@@mycorvettelife i was just throwing it out there after years of working on cars but 🤷♂️🤷♂️

It goes up about 18”. It doesn’t sound like a lot but I can do just about anything. I’ve seen guys take transmissions out using QJ.

Another satisfied customer. Hey Chris. Where is your air tools?
Harbor Freight!
@@mycorvettelife ok.
Best Option is a Valvesystem that you can switch.. Loud, silence mode., 👍😁

Very professional , good vid , respect to you ! 🙏
Hey why don't you wear safety glasses when working under the car?
Terry Fisher great suggestion happened twice to me where dirt got inside my eye it was a killer almost had to go to Emergency Room
I have that same FRC Z06,but black on black.
Another great video, but I got to say that headers provide the least return on time and money spent
than any other performance mod, IMO.
Great content Chris ill be over tomorrow to do mine lol
Great Vid. Ordering an XPipe for my C6 soon.
Did you get a engine code afterwards, did you get a complete tune at a speed shop afterwards??
Yes
Air tools and eye protection
*Safety glasses always*
you definitely trust those jack lifts. I don't know if I would. Prob fine thought I sure.
I’ve seen people demonstrate intentionally trying to push a car over on Quick Jacks and it didn’t budge, sonI trust them.
Great job Chris.
Out of interest what lift is it that you use? Looks really compact
QuickJack
BECAUSE HE HAS NEVER WALKED AROUND AS A CYCLOPS...FOR A WEEK...PROTECT YOURSELF BUDDY!! SAFETY FIRST
Good work but longer side of x pipe should be on passenger side of the car
Yep, we realized that and corrected it later.
Was the oil Filter tight?
Headers seem to be the least performing bolt on for the $$…
What about just an X pipe?
xpipe upside down? arnt the o2 sensors spose to point up not down
What axle back exhaust was it?
Stock Ti Z06
How come tall didn't get it completed before he left with it. ????
Because the owner ran out of time and had to go.
Anyone use the air injection lines for crank evacuation?
How long did it take for you guys to do the install??
Like 5 hours

@@matthewfain3289 I just cut the stock axle back pipes so they came out easy. No need to get the car on a lift. Just jack stands.
Glide1992 good idea, but I wanted to keep mine at the time. Wish I could have just cut them
Correction open header z-06, not straight piped zo-6?
Same thing
What brand headers?
i guess they dont know???? wow
So with the cats gone is the check engine light on?
Yes, you will need a tune after install for proper performance.
My Corvette Life thanks 👍🏾
Your friend has a nice 2004 Z06, but the undercarriage looks cleaner than the engine bay. Spend time between adding mods cleaning the engine.
Can I ask how long this installation took?
5-6hrs. It could probably be done in 4hrs.
@@mycorvettelife thats good for headers and full exhaust....so what kind of headers?
Did you need a tune after the install or not
Yes

Looks “caramped” under there! My neighbor has a similar rramping system totally lifts the car to walk under height. Claims he paid $3200 for it.
