Your lack of a ratchet, wrench, or ratchet wrench TRIGGERED me
My 2003 Z06 is still at stock level. It’s been working for me since I got it new. This was probably some of the most detailed filming I have seen you do Chris, thanks for the video man, you taught me something new. 😃
Dude, invest in a couple "gear wrench" ratcheting open/box wrenches to make that job much easier
Yes. Invest in some real tools. And also learn proper use of Crescent wrenches
Nice vid Chris! Appreciate the good lighting and quality camera angles. I lowered my C5 and C7 on stock bolts and it made a huge difference in the appearance. Fortunately, I have no issues clearing my driveway, but I almost ripped the splitter off of my C7 last month in a parking lot. I was sweating...😂
Good video. My 2019 Corvette Grand Sport is so low and long, it scraped on my driveway, so I hired a concrete contractor to redo the driveway. Love my Corvette!
Way better than my cheapo fix, a long 2x4 painted grey, laid in the gutter. worked.
@@z06king 😂😂😂 no way. Where do you live?
The newer corvettes has no adjusting bolts ?
Good and informative. That looks like one of the easier things to do on a Vette. Hint...lay a standard screwdriver against the threads, it helps to count them easier as you drag over them. Going to bid on a C5 today at auction, and you are in part the inspiration. Thanks!
I new my car had this feature, but now I now how to do it! Thanks!
Just FYI- C5 ride height always differ between drivers side and passenger side even from factory. I like the quick lift ramps! oh lastly, if your not scraping anything your not low enough. :)
4:00 Tightens clockwise then counterclockwise again.... "Now, let's count the threads and see where it went". LOL
Bro I’m lost 😂
You got to make sure that the tires air pressure is the same on both sides to do this measurements
Proper way to measure vehicle height on any vehicle is from the frame not the body as there is too much variances in the body. Check your service manuals for proper procedure.
GOTTA LOVE THE C5 Z06 YELLOW....
They deserve much more love than they actually get
Gotta love those quick jacks!
I have always had a soft spot for the c5.
Great video Chris
Great Video Thanks 😊
It's amazing how easy it is to adjust the ride height on these cars. Good stuff.
Great video Chris Thank you
I hate to Nick -pick, but they make these cool things called box wrenches, or even better, ratchet wrenches. Sorry it was driving me nuts watching you use adjustable wrenches...😂😂
It was too big. I didn’t have the right size. I think they were like 18mm.
Having the right wrench/socket would save you from constantly having to re-adjust every turn. Odds are this won't be the last time you want to change your ride height...
How much is too much? Like, how do you know when you've "lifted" it too far?
"Close?" Close only counts in horseshoes. 😉 What I've done after adjusting the suspension is to go find a parking lot and doe figure eights, like six in one direction and then six in the other direction. It does help, but ultimately it's driving it and for me it took almost 100 miles for the car to adjust to a final height. Maybe check the ZO6 again after some more mile have been on it to be sure. Save the Wave.🙋♂️
How do you do figure 8s in "the other direction"??? LOL Or maybe a better question is why? The only thing that changes is your view is reversed!!!LMAO The effects on the car are exactly the same which ever way you start... Didnt you notice you kept ending up in the same spot??? Dont overthink things my man....
Crescent type wrenches ? You got to be kidding !
What are the measurements for a stock Z06 heights? That would be good to know?
I was just getting ready to do this video this week end
Great info and video!
I have speed bumps in the drive to my home,, going to have to raise it up and see how much duifference that makes.
Where at in Arizona do you live? I’m a big Chevy guy, I want to install a front lighted Bow Tie on my 2023 Colorado Trail Boss, and some work on my C5! You can do a couple shows with my vehicles! I live in Peoria 3 minutes form Cardinals stadium!
Exellent video and very good top quality camera that shows exactly how to do this work. I will lower my Corvette C5 a inch ( 2,5 cm) ca.
Do you know exactly ca how much I can lower my car using the stock bolts ???
Once again thank you for sharing. - As always thumbs up for you Chris, thank you
@@DuBstep115 Thank you very much : )
I will lower enough to almost be undrivable. Ask me how I know. 🙄
@@mycorvettelife Ok, Chris; - The "Billion Dollar question; " How do you know ?
Great video Chris thanks👍
I have those bolts and mine are almost all the way tightened.
You should consider corner weighing the car. That way you'll likely find that each corner will require a different ride height. Only then will you know how much it weighs as well as the weight on each tire. If you have uneven weights on the tires they'll each have a different amount of grip which can lead to the car cornering faster in one direction than the other. Front to rear weight distribution is also important because it allows traction to be increased on the driven wheels by increasing the front or rear weight depending on which wheels transfer the most power to the ground. Ideally this should be done with the driver in the drivers seat.
In Theorie you are right.
But ... not much Cars on Earth are so good Ballanced like a Corvette.
Even the Fuel Tank is build that way, to give the Car the perfect Weight Ballance.
Things like you say are maybe important on a Honda Civic, or Mercedes S Class. But a Corvette is already Ballanced as good as its possible.
And the yellow Corvette was 0,5 Inch lower on the left side, even the Driver was not on the Seat.
When the Driver join the Seat, it will be even more.
@@kallo182 I beg to differ. I have a C7 ZR1 ZTK and have a lot of experience with Corvettes as well as racing, although not in Corvettes, although I've had them on a track many times. And I can say with certainty they can in fact benefit from corner weighing and balancing. In fact the ability to adjust corner weights is built into them, for a reason.
For example, every driver differs in weight. Different tires can also make a difference as well. Fuel load (not total capacity) is another variable. For example, starting with half a tank is a substantial weight difference and if the car is corner weighed and balanced for that fuel weight it does make a difference.
Is corner weighing and balancing something one needs for street use? No. However, if one has an interest in track days for example it's quite beneficial to do so, especially if the car is on race rubber (track only tires) for example.
I always wished they had made the zo6 in the spiral grey
Love your videos! I have a 2003 triple black 50th edition and I'm still crazy about the car! I was curious why the check engine light was on when you were driving it down the road?
It hasn’t been tuned yet since we installed the headers.
Does anyone know if this procedure is the same for raising the front suspension height? I have a 2003 with the magnetic shocks that scrapes something fierce. I'm considering raising the height an inch and cutting an inch off the front air dam.
That was timely as I need to raise mine at the weekend 😊👍
So to be clear loosening the bolt makes it higher and tightening it makes it lower is that how that works
Yes
GAWD, I've got it backwards. Maybe a better explanation is increasing thread count makes it higher, decreasing the thread count makes it lower?
@@mycorvettelife wrong oppersite
I need to do this to mine
Clockwise would be tightening, correct. So essentially shortening up the bolt. How does that raise the car? Thanks
It pushed the leaf spring down.
Ok. Thanks for your reply.
How much can you raise the car over stock? I am trying to raise my C5 for winter driving :)
maybe an inch.
@@mycorvettelife Thanks so much for the reply man I really appretiate that
What's with the check engine light on?
Needs to be tuned after the header install.
Chris, where can I buy those electric jacks ?
They are hydraulic. QuickJack 5000SLX. You can buy them direct from QJ or via Home Depot or Costco.
@@mycorvettelife thank you !
Tire pressure and level ground.......
I also live in az, you have any leads on some c5 seats for sale?
No, but I would recommend ditching the OEM seats.
Don't do c5 seats... In my car which is identical to Chris's I put in seats from an 07 zo6 and what a difference!!!!! Bolts right up s d the support is so much better. They're the 2 tone grey and black and they make the interior stand out!
How many ways is the cam-less version different?
It’s not camless, it’s just a stock cam. It’s just a lot smoother and quiet.
Chris, cam-less was just a figure of speech. Is there like a torque difference?
Yes, massive.
What kind of jacks are those?
QuickJack
Get rid of those “wrenches” use the right tools.
It worked ,did it not?
My Corvette Life this time. But it sets a bad example. People are much more likely to round off bolt heads with those.
@@mycorvettelife Not wanting to be one but if you do use crescent wrenches you need to use them right. The adjustable jaw should be on the side of the nut/bolt in the direction you're going. Same thing with channel lock pliers. You seriously will round off a bolt using them backwards. Good video.
Might want to check that check engine light while you have her in the shop 😬
He hasn’t had the car tuned yet since the header install.
Well very good then. I them headers disappear, I don’t have them 😬
Does yellowvette04 know you’re working on his car?😂
Why stop your a quarter inch off do it right or don’t do it at all
Wow you really broke the bank on those tools didn't you.
Man, I couldn't work with 2 adjustable wrenches...
Then don’t.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Need front
Thanks!
Please for the love of god, remove the stick on brake cooler vents I have the perfect jig for the BP cutouts and it's only a few grand to do. Worth every penny.
This is a real Z06. Not stick on vents.
@@mycorvettelife totally messin with ya
Crescent wrenches? Seriously?
Yes sir
I wish the folks that wanna criticize your choice of tools would use a proper name!..... isn't Cresent a brand name?
I think so. It's an adjustable wrench.
The “check engine light” is on bro!
You leaving it 1/4 inch out? Not cool man, sorry but this just turned me off your channel.
Dude! Your making me cringe! Not one but two crescent wrenches! 🤦♂️
Whatever works.
Lol I do like the vids! Didn’t mean to sound negative. Keep up the good videos.
Dude, might as well use pipe wrench if you aren't going to invest in proper tools..My god, you have a vette !!
😨 my God, how dare I....
Lolll wtf buy tools bro..
Give me money bro.
@@mycorvettelife lol comon bro two ranch like 20$ for a pack of six... you cant have a nice garage with a nice 2000$ lift and a nice corvette without two cheap ranch :p anyway love your work and info.
The lift was $800 not $2000. The adjustable wrenches worked just fine.
@@mycorvettelife dam thanks for tips i was looking on amazon for that lift and its 2.199$
Already videos on this topic. Try something new and challenging.
I make videos on whatever I’m doing at the moment. I’m not going to make a video on something just for the sake of making a video on it.
what size are the adjustment bolts?
Depends on which ones you have.
LoL I'll figure it out
