Good information. I had a friend give me an HD lithium ion battery that didn't fit his bike. I've been hesitant to install it. I will just pick up another AGM for my softail. My current battery is 5yrs old and is now needing to be trickle charged once in a while.

I had an Anti Gravity lithium ion battery on my Sporty and it lasted 1 year. Switched back to AGM type.

My 07 Heratige runs great with a LITHIUM.

I've been running the same lithium battery in my 03 Dyna for a year with no problems so far. Sorry yours turned out to be a dud hopefully they can warranty it or something. Shout out to your Honda Hawk 400 and your CX500. I used to have the same bikes and I rode the crap out of the CX all over the country.

Am posting up a video with these two bikes tomorrow.

wow, to think I've been running the same lithium batt in my fatboy for the last 8 years, all this time I've been wrong. I guess i'll go back to changing an AGM every year. Maybe i'll get some of those wheels and tires that won't hold air too. SMH

I'm glad your fatboy is doing good.
I imagine it's the same size as my softail, a bit smaller than the touring models. I do know that it's been hit or miss for people. I do a lot of long distance riding on this bike and it's a risk I'm not willing to take.
      Peace

I don't think you can use a standard trickle charger on lithium ion battery.

      That is correct.
      I have a Lithium charger.

Lithium batteries shouldn't be allowed to completely drain. Doing so will damage it.
I replaced my stock AGM battery with a lithium. It's WAY easier to maintain- charge once and forget it.

But on the bike it uses the same stator, rotor & voltage regulator. Hmmmm weird you alls.

    • @bronxbrosmotorcycles
      @bronxbrosmotorcycles  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

But, the bike never charges it to 100%. I believe the best the bikes stator can do is put it at about 70%.
It's a weird thing. As I stated, I don't think it's ready for prime time.
I travel halfway across the country twice a year, plus a few times one days ride away from home. I don't need to be sweating my charging system. Will it charge?
Lithium Batteries hate cold, they do poorlyin northernstates, and the list goes on.

I have been using a lithium ion battery in my Harley for over four years. I charged it once before installing. Never had a charger on it since. Hasn’t failed even in winter. BTW mine is not a Harley brand battery.

The security and fob bikes have to stay on the tender or they will be dead in less than a week if you don't undo the negative. No matter the battery.

My 08 has a fob & security lol it always cranks up. I only put it on the tender in the winter

@@THEWILLYEFFECT so always starts except when it doesn't and I have to keep it on a charger...

@@THEWILLYEFFECT if you ride often it will stay charged. As long as the red light is on it is discharging plus it is looking for the fob signal constantly every time you are within 6 ft. The computer is active and even standing by the bike and walking past it with the fob in your pocket hasten the discharge.

@@jonjames4281 I personally ride my bike almost year round. Maybe 9 months ? 10months on a good year ? But I only put it on a tender when there is snow out.
