The only thing I didn’t like about your video is that I watched it today and not yesterday. Yesterday I bought the HD lithium battery and charger and based on that it was $150 more expensive than the AB power box 😢. Great video and I will remember for the next time. Thanks 🙏
@@RidingandWrenching Ok 👍🏾! My bike audio system getting upgraded along with air suspension. Was in the market for a lithium. Getting the charger along with the battery is a good deal.
Love the way you think! Thank you for sharing. This is in-between battery upgrade on price and not 600-700 Dollars . I'm basically a stock ride 2016freewheeler, buying from Harley w6700 miles. The battery is 4 yrs old and the dealership will not replace with a new one. For the 27000 dollars I'm spending. Shame on them .
Awesome video Q, You are a plethora of valuable information, thank you for sharing, hope you continue making these videos, I look forward to seeing them 🙏
Very informative. I'll be replacing the battery on my 2017 flhx this spring, and am looking forward to more info on the advanblack battery. Thank you for the the great information. I live in Montana.
Thanks for the feedback. I've had the lithium for about 6 months. So far so good! I've only had the opportunity to start it once in freezing temps....no issues if you let it "warm up" a bit before starting
I have a 2020 road glide special w a stock battery that has a dying battery, especially now that it is cold. i guess the last owner let the battery die a couple times as it should not be dying yet. will get this lithium battery soon.
Great review. I am on my third stock battery. The first lasted four years or seasons. The second lasted just over one, and the third is roughly four years old. I've experienced this in the past. You may get a bad battery that lasts a little longer than the warranty before it starts cranking slowly. I am going to consider an Advanblack for my next purchase. Will the Advanblack last five or six seasons before needing replacement?
After 3 months, I am very happy with the battery. In fact, the stock battery in my Street Glide might get replaced too! I'm planning to do a follow up video with the battery soon. Thanks for watching!
Actually, it the "inter-webs"! I picked up that saying years ago from a friend (who acts like an old man).....he always referred to the internet as the interwebs....I always laughed, so I "borrowed" his term!
Interesting. I guess the proof is use. Just bought a 2018 road glide and would feel happier with a fresh battery. Will get one after the Canadian winter.
@@hudsonrilke cold weather starts require a different process with a lithium. Turn the ignition on (without starting the bike). Let it sit for a few minutes. This creates current draw and warms the battery. After a few minutes, it should start with no issue. I don't get many freezing days in Memphis, but I have tested it on one of the few freezing days. Nice Video. Since lithium batteries requires a different charger, it begs the question as to why the bike doesn't require a different charging system as well?

The lithium battery uses a special trickle charger. The bike doesnt need any kind of mods to properly charge lithium? why can the bike charge either kind of battery, but a special trickle charger is needed? great videos. thanks for doing what you do.
That's a great question. I don't know the answer but I am going to inquire. I also learned that you aren't supposed to jump start a dead battery with jumper cables....unless the donor bike has a lithium battery. I'll try to address all of these questions in my next video
@@RidingandWrenching I'm told that the lead acid charging system of the bike is "less aggressive" than lithium chargers, and wont likely hurt anything. Hows it been working out?
@@kencabanaw4165 it's been great so far! I have 2 motorcycles. One has the stock AGM battery, the other has a lithium. I have to keep the AGM bike on a trickle charger. I have never put the lithium on a trickle charger. The only slow(ish) start that I had with the lithium was during freezing temps in the winter. Sadly, most things are made in China. American manufacturing (once our greatest strength) has been ceded to China. Hopefully we will wise up before it's too late
Hi you may already know this. Then again perhaps you do not. But the link you provided to the advanblack battery takes you to saddlebag lids on advanblack site. :)
Unfortunately, they don't have the battery on their website any longer. I don't know if they will get them back in stock. You may want to check out Volunteer Audio. They have a few options for Lithium batteries. I will remove the link to the battery
Glad it helped! Advanblack doesn't sell this particular model, but they do have a new one. You can also reach out to Volunteer Audio. They sell lithium batteries too.
One thing bad is that the lithium will go dead immediately when its low enough not giving you the tale-tale warning slow crank that the glass mat battery will give you. Thus possibly leaving your stranded if you are not on top of it.
I will do a couple more (torture test) videos in the future. The next one will be a test running my 6 speaker, amplified audio system at abt 50% volume for an hour (or longer). My experience has been great so far.

I’m on my second Throttle x battery with 600 CCA . The first one lasted 4.5 years . Harley batteries did not last 3 years . 159.00 for the throttle x on Amazon . I think I got my money’s worth out of the battery . I ride a 2012 FLHTK .
They don't carry this model any longer. However, although the meter is nice, I never look at it. I've had this battery in my bike for about 18 months and it still shows 100% capacity. I would feel perfectly comfortable getting on of the battery's that don't have the meter.
So the bike’s voltage regulator & stator is ok to charge the lithium battery, but a regular trickle charger is not?😳 I haven’t heard good things about lithium batteries on Harleys, due to the heat.
I agree with your question! I'm still planning to run the battery out so I can figure out how to jump start it. From what I've read, you can't jump start it with a traditional battery.
Does the advent black battery have a BMS (battery management system) built into it to protect is from draining down to low and also protect the battery from over voltage? As the stock harley charging system sends over 14 volts to battery.
In 2020 I went with the Harley Lithium and also bought a charger. The battery only lasted 15 months! I wouldn't go that route again. Imagin if you have a problem on a trip and you don't carry the Lithium's charger with you. !!! You couldn't jump start it. It just wasn't worth it for me!
