This helped me open up my Pavillion dv6 3040br and fix a bad connection between the LCD screen and the motherboard. It's working great now and probably save me a couple hundred bucks! Thanks!
I still rock this laptop. With 8GB of RAM and an SSD, it actually works pretty decently. Haven't reapplied thermal paste, but planning to do that soon. 85 C is pretty hot in general. Intel CPUs are usually rated to go to a max of 100 C but will start throttling to keep it at 85 or lower. I would definitely recommend reapplying the thermal paste or at minimum cleaning the fan and other insides out.

Anyone still use this laptio until now ? My laptop cpu run at full load is 85 degree of C. Is it too hot ?
Judging how ancient these laptops are it's safe to assume the thermal paste dried out and needs to be replaced asap.
