I’ve done dark side for the past 5 years. My first CT lasted 32,000 miles. I took the CT and wheel off and put my spare tire and wheel on while mounting the new tire. My spare is a bike tire. I actually hated the way the bike tire rode.
The caller from SoCal mentioned he Dbl Darkside and rides "DeLuz Road"... I just rode DeLuz Rd a few days ago on my 2013 F6B! I've got over 4,000 mi Dbl Drkside and love it. Bridgestone 195/55 Dry Guard and Battlax BT45 run bkwrds! Like Brother Cowboy says- "I aint never going back"! LOL
I have friends that have put 300,000 to 450,000 miles on their 1800 am are still riding them today a well maintained Goldwing will last forever .Most guys that change just wanted something newer not because bike was wore out or nickel an dining them.
Chris I am thinking about dark siding my 12 Honda Goldwing. I do 95% two up riding and we do about 75 % turn roads and 25% straight roads. What are you though on this with dark siding?
All these people justifying their choice, cracks me up... This is something people who darkside and/or use ape-hanger handle bars do... I really like running a rear tire on the front, it last a lot longer and has little influence on the performance... Honda has been downsizing since the GL1500 which is almost 20 years, I doubt they will be going back to a larger bike...Sadly...
I can’t ride dark side because I don’t just ride on 4 lane highways. I like to ride back roads Curves and hills less traffic. I love the videos but these tires you run are on straight highways (4 lanes)
Hey y'all: I have a 1999, mint original Suzuki 'busa, I don't think I'll dark side it but I got a idea/question. I used to run heavy E class 15 ply industrial rubber on my pick up. The side walls are a little stiffer but I bought used 75% Hankooks 255R55 17 for my gmc and I got over 150000 km, not miles ( that's used 75% tread) and didn't wear out the tread ( they started to delaminate). No flats either ! ! 'just an idea … thoughts ?
Got to rely on people who have done and are doing it. That's the only data we have pro or con. So I disagree with y'all on this point. I just wish I could darkside my GL1100. I've heard and read that the GL1100 is not wide enough. But guys were doing it the late 70's on Honda 750's with Volkswagen tires.
Double darkside here in Cali. 18k miles no issues. I can do anything double darkside I could do with my MC tires.

T-Spoon feels the same way , I do t like the way the bike tire rides anymore , and my lady noticed it when she road with me as well

Maybe Honda could make an XL version kind of like GMC does with the Yukon and the Yukon XL.
knightwing4 up the size of the GW tour and leave the base GW as is. On the tour have the larger trunk and bags.

We did VW tires in the late 60's on Harley's. Even A 500/16 looked just like a car tire back then and it was a motorcycle tire...
