Dwayne, appreciate the time and effort bud. I'm not aiming my comments at you or REO, just modern live shows in general.
It makes me really sad to see that these guys like so many others now have gone so heavily into backing tracks and digital. No amps on stage, what a bummer. The guitars go into a Helix or some such rig via wireless and straight into the front of house. That just takes all the true live show enjoyment right out of the deal for me. I'm an old dude and still a purist. I love all analog shows even with the missed notes, screwed up solos, and out of key voices. At least it's pure and real. At a minimum 100% of the BU Vocals here are canned, but to me it appears that much more than just those are too. I grew up with REO back in the day and they were real, pure, and 100% analog. I miss that in live shows so much.
Again, thanks for the time, effort, and the share. I'm old and crusty and haven't adjusted to the modern era of live shows. LOL Cheers from Chicago all

      @@dwaynesclassics
He’s voice hasn’t changed? What video are you listening to? He sings on key, but his voice isn’t near as strong as it used to be, which is normal for a seventy something year old man. The other poster was right about this being the “Kevin Cronin show”. Nothing wrong with an artist wanting to perform the songs they wrote, but call it what it is; an old dude performing a nostalgia tour (I’m an old dude, so I get to say that).
PS: Gary Richrath was the heart and soul of REO. Don’t believe me? Compare REO’s entire catalog. They put out some good albums without Cronin, but anything after Richrath left was mediocre at best.

Would have liked to see a more diverse set list and maybe some deep cuts for a change. Played 14 songs from 6 albums out of their 15 Studio albums. Played 1/2 of Hi-Infidelity so you might as well played it all but which gives you only 9 other songs from their entire career. I get it, they're leaning on their hits but they have some great music in their catalog that they could play. For me, a disappointing set list and way too typical of these older bands that continue to tour today. I guess once Kevin retires they'll just replace him and continue on since fans seem not to care any more who's singing the hits. Even REO has no original members left.

    • @dwaynesclassics

@@dwaynesclassics Feel that's a kind of a stretch with The Beatles as the they were established with Ringo when they came to America and when they released their first album 'Please Please Me'. But with REO and fans who go to see them I would venture to guess that most don't know their catalog only what they've heard on the radio over the years which is disappointing because of the some of the great music REO has done especially when Gary was in the band. But, I would say most fans are like this with any group. I've often talked to people who thought a lot of bands were done after their one or two hits that they heard on the radio. Bands I grew up with I continue to follow to this day. Even REO who I've followed since their Live album way back in 1977. My favorite album of theirs to this day is still 'Nine Lives'. Still containing enough of their roots and more rock oriented before they went off to commercial stardom and albums that were such and made for radio.

When I would see concerts it would always be because the band was supporting their current album that they just released. Even Rush tried to mix it up tour to tour with their set list.
