Looks like you had perfect weather for your outing! Those ghost candles were amazing! I would never burn those. When I used to work at The Parker House Hotel, there was a very cool and historic cemetery around the corner. Is the common where they used to do the witch hangings? I read somewhere that Chestnut Street in Salem was voted one of the prettiest streets in America. For awhile there, before I moved away from MA, I had aspirations of working as a wedding sales manager at The Hawthorne Hotel in Salem. That's what I did at The Parker House - favorite job ever!

My husband and I renewed our wedding vows in Salem at the old burying point cemetery by Salems Black Hat Society. It’s absolutely amazing there. Loved this little tour! It is a dream of mine to one day be in America during the Halloween season. Love how everyone gets into it. It’s not the case here in Australia, although each year it gets a tiny bit bigger.
Salem is great during summer too. I love Salem in July especially around the 4th. 3 places for sweets anyone visiting including kids would prob like is Caramel, Melt and Good night fatties. To those visiting parking can suck so the ferry/uber or train is the best way to get into Salem. Spring to early fall/early oct there's not many lines. However some places are open only during haunted happenings and some only before Oct. Some places have you needing tickets for tours etc. so research everything you want to do before visiting. I also suggest look up restaurant ratings and best places to eat and best historical sites before you come as well. Just outside Salem but worth checking out for family or visitors is the Hammond castle in Gloucester Its worth the trip.

My best friend growing up was named Charlotte. She passed away right before her 30th birthday, almost 10 years ago now. I named my forever home after her to have her here with me.
I find it very macabre that places where people horrifically died are now tourist attractions where local businesses continue to profit from terrible events in history. Isn't it so bizarre we do this? I felt that feeling the whole time I visited Salem. The whole town just has this strange vibe. Fun and festive, but haunted with echos of the past.
I felt the opposite. I felt welcomed by the town. I was going through a dark time and while I was visiting it was a great memory I still have of till this day. Every country has similar landmarks. To each their own.
