    Thanks Andrew, I've looked at a dozen videos just looking for a simple "connect my new FT-70D to a Fusion repeater" and found everything else - then found this. I appreciate your sharing this info.

      Exactly this. Every other video skipped right over these basics. Thank you!

    Anyway I like my 70 as it has good selectivity, good sensitivity and even the satellite operation is possible with proper setup of radio. Nice feature is C4FM. Using the VW mode in AMBE+2 with voice code of 4.4 kbps, error correction code of 2.8 kbps gives great voice quality. I still have my trusty FT-60R but I like 70 too a lot.

    Hi, 2 questions please. Does this receive short wave radio? Must a call sign be put in or can I bypass this option?

      Hi. No It is just FM and C4FM. You have to put something in for a callsign, but it only transmits that callsign in digital (c4fm).

    Great video. Can you use this even of you do not have a callsign or license?

      This radio will not work until you enter a callsign.

    Thanks for the video. I just recently got my Technician license and got me a Yaesu FT-70D. I have programmed several FM repeaters in my area. Most are Fusion as well, however I haven't been able to know how to program them into my phone. This video has helped but I have a question. That digital ID you are talking about is not in the repeaterbook under those particular repeaters. How do I find that digital code and if not available on that particular repeater, do I still need to select T00 or T02? Im confused. Lol. Thanks.

      @andrewyoung-n8ary  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The T-?? codes are sometimes, but not always, needed to access repeaters. If they are not listed, you may need to ask around or do some detective work.
      T?? Can be left as 00, because that’s your radio’s setting to ignore all but one code.

    Another question is, do I need to have a hotspot to connect to Fusion? Thanks again.

    • @georgecambian6170
      @georgecambian6170 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScottGibson178 Thank you. I don't have a hot spot but I do have several Fusion Repeaters in my area. I have programmed my FT -70 on DN mode to them but haven't been able to get a response from my test calls to verify if it's opening the repeater. The repeaters only have the usual FM tone code but no T Codes so I programmed the regular tone codes and leave the T Codes set to Zero. They are opened as per info. in the Repeaterbook.

      @andrewyoung-n8ary  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. No hotspot needed, if there are repeaters in your area. Also, you probably don’t need ro connect to a node if there is a repeater.
      With a hotspot, you’ll need to have a node active.
