Hope this video inspires you with your emergency food storage! I really think this is a fantastic idea! I'll put each baggy I made with items included below!

Bag 1
Darn Good Chili-
-Martha White Country Cornbread mix .98c
-Darn Good Chili Mix $3.57
-Can of Tomato Paste .76c
Total: $5.31
*Mix the chili mix with the amount of water on the back of the package (minus the hamburger unless you have canned up your own hamburger meat). Add the tomato Paste. Make the cornbread mix according to package directions, it's water only. Enjoy your chili with a side of cornbread!
Bag 2
Bacon Alfredo-
-Pasta .92c
-Alfredo Sauce $1 (I found mine on clearance, but you can get GV for $1.75)
-Bag of Bacon Pieces $1.58
Total: $3.50-$4.25
* Cook up your pasta, drain. Add alfredo sauce. Heat up, and add bacon. Wam Bam, delicious and EASY!
Bag 3
Cowboy Supper-
-2 box of Great Value Shells and Cheese .43c X2
-One can of Ranch Style Beans .98c
-Taco Seasoning Packet .46c
-Rotel .76c
-Can of Evaporated Milk for mac n cheese $1.25
Total: $4.31
*Boil up your mac n cheese. mix 1/4 cup of Evaporated Milk and 1/4 cup of water into the mac n cheese. Mix in the cheese packets, stir. Add the ranch beans, rotel, taco seasoning, mix, and enjoy!
Bag 4
Chicken Dumplins
-Can of chicken breasts $3.23
-2 cans of cream of chicken .58c X2
-2 boxes of Jiffy Biscuit Mix .93c X2
Total: $6.25
*Add the cream of chicken to a pot with 3 cans of water, drain the chicken, add it to the cream of chicken mixture. Slowly bring to a boil. Meanwhile, mix the Jiffy biscuit mix according to the package directions PLUS 2 TBS extra water per box. (This biscuit mix is water only). When the mixture comes to a boil, start dropping in the biscuits with a spoon. DO NOT STIR. It will make is smush. If it starts piling up on top, just push the dumplings under gently with a spoon. When the biscuits are done, you can stir.
Bag 5
Knorr Casserole
-2 bags of the small Knorr Chicken Broccoli Flavored Rice or 1 family size $2.28
-Can of chicken breast $3.23
-Can of cream of chicken .58c
Total: $6.09
*In a casserole Dish, pour the Knorr in, along with the cream of chicken, and 3 cans of water. Mix Together. Drain the Chicken, break it up a bit, and add to the top of the Knorr mix. Season the chicken with whatever you have on hand. The gently incorporate the chicken to the mixture. Don't mix it up completely. Bake on 375 until rice is done.
Bag 6
Good Ol' Beans and cornbread
-Baggy of pinto beans $1
-Goya Ham concentrate seasoning (This comes in a multi box for $1.50)
-Martha White Country Cornbread .98
Total: $1.98 ($2.48 if you have to buy the Goya, but it lasts A LONG TIME)
* Wash and pick through your beans.
Instant Pot Directions: 6-8 Cups of water (according to how soupy you like your beans) A dollop of some sort of fat (crisco, bacon grease, butter, etc...) Add your Goya Ham concentrate, along with 1 TBS Salt. Cook on Manual for 65 mins.
Stove Top directions: In a pot add your beans, along with 8 cups of water. Add a dollop of some sort of fat, the goya ham concentrate, 1 TBS salt. Bring to a slow boil. This way takes a few hours. So you need to check your water level, and add accordingly.
When the beans are almost done, mix up your cornbread mix according to the package directions. ENJOY!!

Im trying to do $5.00 to $6.00 meals for a family of 5 but I'm in need of some ideas your channels helps us so much!
Happy Birthday Brayden... Write your recipes and expiration dates on index cards and place inside the bag in front so you can see it. Now you can reuse your ziploc bags, thats what I do.
I’ve seen this using home canned things as well. (Rose red homestead) They put the ingredients in a paper bag on their storage shelves and on a hard day- late from work, heavy work load, the cook is sick, etc, they grab a bag and dinner is ready in a few minutes. They make two or three of each easy meal and reuse the bags for the same meal. For the dry beans to make the meal quicker, she precooks them and then dehydrates them, depending on how they were originally cooked they can look almost normal or be almost crumbled and would be more like refried beans when rehydrated.
I haven’t made any of these, but need to make a few to make dinner easier for days I just don’t have the energy to decide/pull together a home cooked meal.

Brooke, these ideas are such a wonderful blessing for families. If anyone was worried about needing to add a vegetable, they could add a can of potatoes, beans, mixed vegetables, carrots or corn to the bag or a packet of dehydrated vegetables, if their grocery store carry’s them. The meals all look delicious & very satisfying. A quick reminder is to store a can opener in the storage tout too, just in case you can’t find your usual one in an emergency. Happy birthday to your sweet boy who obviously loves his Mumma so much 🥳🥰
This is a great idea! I love just the convenience of already having a meal and not having to think😆. I also feel like a few of these could be used for our hurricane kit. While we may not have power, some of these could be done on a grill (fire). Thankfully we do have a generator in a pinch. I will have to look in my pantry and put together 4 or 5 meals for our kit. Thanks for sharing this and making me think difference than just have stuff.
I am literally watching this because we just went through Hurricane Ian and I want more ideas for the future ha.
I do my emergency meals in the extra large zipper bags, but I include a whole days worth plus snacks. Then I close the bags together in a large paper bag with contents, and date and place in plastic tubs. I also carry 3 days worth in our go bags.
Also, these are good for nights where you won’t be home or are sick and the kids or hubby need to cook. It’s all together and will help cut down on take out
Happy birthday. I had to downsize to apartment and let me tell you I refuse to get rid of my food storage. I opt out of traditional dinner table for food,water and supply storage. That is a good idea.
I have done easy bags for 72 hours kits. All need no cooking

This really is an interesting way to have emergency meals or even to meal prep for those days when you have no idea what to make. Just have the family pick a meal and that way everyone is happy! Thank you for the genius idea!!!

what a easy and good idea. This shows me no matter how old I am I can learn something new. I have always stock up but this idea is a really good one. I use to live in northern Michigan and ths winters can get you in can't leave home. We ove this May downstate near our kids because were getting on in years and can not do a lot of the yard work, cutting wod for heat and shovling snow. Niw we live in a condo where we don;t have those worries any more.
I suffer from chronic illnesses and my husband struggles to feed the family when I am on bedrest from time to time. I've been wanting to prep up freezer meals but this is a great idea, too! 🥰
These are great ideas, they could be given as house warming gifts, wedding shower gifts...very practical ideas.
I like that some are easy enough for hubs to make if I am incapacitated (migraines). Today I had a doozie. If I made these bags, I would include a brief set of directions in case hubs needs to cook it.
I recommend putting a can opener and some bottled water with the emergency food too. That way you have everything you need in the tote just Incase.
Oh awesome, thank you for sharing! Oh yes very hot lately! I like to grab a couple of emergency blankets from the $ store, in camping section, cut to the size of your windows & tape, it helps block out some heat!

Happy birthday Braydon! My birthday as well! These meals are great and having them together like this would be so helpful. Think a container of a couple these with a few cans of vegetables, a can opener, little measuring cup/spoon set could be a great gift for someone just starting out.
I make these for family vacation weeks. By picking up a few extra items a week, I can have a lot of our meals covered and it saves a ton of money over eating out. It’s also fun to cook as a family!
You are teaching your son invaluable skills for life. He will also be able to be poised in front of a camera. Loved seeing him and look forward to more. I live in middle Tennessee. Plan to make many of these next week!

Happy Birthday🎉 I do that for quick meals for power outages so I don't have to think. Most can be heated up with crisco candles that have been premade in small mason jars with birthday candles as the wick, packed in a tote with a can opener, matches and fireplace lighters. Do not use the crisco in the original containers - they are no longer made of metal.

I have started doing this recently. I found a hamburger helper that says you can substitute Black beans for the hamburger so it's also budget friendly. It's the chili macaroni. It still tastes good. And under $3

I live on the Gulf coast so during hurricane season this is so convenient. I do this also for breakfasts and snacks. You can also get diced ham in a can to add to the beans and canned pork for the chili.
Where do you find the diced ham in a can? I've never seen it.

@@starlenearnold5303 Walmart carries it here. Also canned sausage patties, canned beef and sometimes canned burger. Although the beef ones are a bit on the pricey side but if you're looking to add variety.... HTH

Great idea! I do the same sort of thing in my pantry. I put all the things together for a quick easy meal. I started this when my daughter was old enough to pull it together. I often work evenings, and although I do meal prep cooking ahead sometimes life happens.
