It is a crime that this is not on an album.
It's fantastic that she's so good that this didn't even make her top (approx) 70 of songs she wrote (those better songs being the ones she considered good enough for albums).
this was her suicide note.. she’s crying while singing the lyrics that years later have proven to be things she was going through at that time yet nobody had caught on it.
that's because people kept saying /comparing it to Princess Diana
Yeah, if she hadn't broken her hip she probably would have killed herself some time after finishing the BTW Ball Tour, joining "The 27 club", this feels like she was trying to give her fans one final gift before departing from this world, but due to her surgery i bet her doctors or the people taking care of her noticed her depression and suicidal behaviour, and made her get help, which resulted in the difficult and painful era that ARTPOP was for her, medicated all the time, feeling like shit, with everyone who she loved and was close to her leaving her behind for money, i'm amazed at how strong she is for surviving all of that after quite literally making up her mind about comitting suicide and singing it live to her fans every show she could... I'm so glad Chromatica took her to a way better place, as painful as the process was for her, she's still healing of course, but we're hopefully far away from "Princess Die"
I to struggle for most of my life, even on meds. It's a day to day struggle for sure for me. I love Gaga, I want to be a singer, I'm over 50.

Her new documentary will give this song even more of a dark and intimate meaning into what was going on in the critical moment in here career. Her "little monster" were starting to leave her, she was addicted to prescription drugs and dope and most of all the media turned her back on her. She was suicidal at this time and I am so thankful she never took her life. MONSTER FOR LIFE

Not trying to get into conspiracy theories, but it is still curious that when she decided to start singing this song regularly on the BTW Ball tour, she was 26. And 27 is a number with a lot of weight when it comes to suicidal behaviour in the entertainment industry (Amy, Cobain, Joplin, Hendrix, Morrison, ...). When I watch her sing this song, it always seems she is sending a note, warning, preparing us or something. Maybe I'm seeing too much. I don't know if it was merely a coincidence, but it's a fact they cancelled the rest of the tour in february, due to the "surgery". She was about to be 27 a few weeks later.

It amazes me how open she is with her fans and how shes not afraid to be that venerable in-front of her fans. I will forever have so much respect for this woman and how talented she is.
I believe this song is not so much about celebrity suicide, but how sometimes she just wants to be a 'normal' person and not be famous. I'm sure she LOVES being famous, but being famous is probably difficult, especially since she's been famous basically for... forever. She's never really lived an actual normal life. It's kind of sad, really.

It's a powerful song, and that's a powerful performance. The song is a suicide note and her words are dripping with sarcasm when she invites the audience to sing along. Then they cheer when she sings 'I'll be a Princess Die and die with you'. No wonder she gave them the fingers. I don't think she could ever release this song, but it would be hard to top this performance anyway.
