how many hours you're in ? i'm tempted to buy the game but i'm afraid that i would get bored of it too soon is it a quick game to beat ? or get bored of?
@@chadikhr7258 It's not a quick game, it's a Roguelite ! Those are the most time efficient games you can play, because they technically have an infinite replayability. However, the game's 100% is AT LEAST a 60 hours trip I'd say
Honestly most of the boons are pretty good for beginning, though I'd say the only one you wouldn't want for beginners is Ares for he is great for once you really gotten a hang of the fight system. Though since I'm not a Roguelike person I play it more like an RPG type game and the game seems to like you playing it like an RPG. So I treat the dungeons more like grind sessions before returning home to catch up with Cerberus, Hades, Nyx, Hypnos, Skelly, and Achilles. The game never feels like you lost just because it is built up to feel like you are supposed to lose and beyond Hades no one really takes jabs at you for dying even your character doesn't feel defeated when he loses.
@@prateekn4110 I can understand that, but I always saw death as a built in part of the game as there is new dialogue a good amount of time you return so to me a successful run is one where I have made progress in being able to upgrade something or closer to upgrading something.
I stopped playing Hades to watch this video. Finished 240 runs and still going strong. Also thank you for your guides. Couldn't have finished Salt and Sanctuary without your wiki.
It’s one of my biggest pet peeves with roguelikes. In a game like Enter the Gungeon I felt like I could clear it all with the starter off my own skills. I like this game a lot but I hate how it takes away from the feeling of your own skill because you are most definitely dependent on build. The amount of damage you put out with bad ones it’s laughable.
- the key of a "smooth" run is the Boon (read the Codex!) - the safest weapon is Shield - the first aspect u should unlock and fully upgrade is Chaos Shield (my recommendation) / oc you can choose ur fav. - the best talents from Mirror : Shadow Presence ,Death Defiance, Greater Reflex, Thick Skin, Privileged Status, Fated Persuasion (the order is up to preference) - give the nectar to the Gods 1st, so u can have their keepsake. it will make u have the access to build ur Boon every run. - best to unlock Megaera Companion 1st for the damage. - best way to get Titan Blood is by fulfilling the Prophecy. and last, pet Cerberus every single time before /after you make an escape attempt. if anyone interested there's more that i can share
Been scoring a lot of great deals lately, most of the games go right to the 'to be played soon-ish' shelf. Not Hades! Been excited since the console announcement, as evident by me mashing the track package button on this pre-order all day! 🤣
Got this off xbox games pass on release :-) not disapointed, its slick combat and fast movement makes it easier than expected but its a fun world with some challenging boss fights :-)
Got my PS5 copy. Loving it. And for only $30?! It even came with a download code for the music and a booklet that has a bunch of the characters in it. I miss the days when booklets with info on the game & or characters were in it. Hades makes clear there’s no excuse for that to not exist anymore.
I literally just started and stumbled across Ares’ doom on special hits while using the shield…that was significantly more viable for me, personally, than the bow unless I got the +dmg to armor upgrade on its volley fire. I just run around chucking the shield at mobs and the ricochets spread doom ticks like fire lol. 🤷🏽
For a more advanced level i wanted to know which boons to chose for which weapons, and to put them on the attack or special With my experience i learned that boons that do alot of damage like athena, aphrodite, and demeter, are very good on slow / powerful attacks (especially on the hidden aspects of the weapons like Arthur sword or the hidden bow aspect)
Athena's dash is ridiculous good but i'm starting to prefer the dash of poseidon. Especially if the skill is high ranked and leveled a bit. Makes the spear and gloves even better.
the skills are just visual right? like the ones that are on the left side of the screen I don't need to change or equip anything cause it automatically does it's job right?
I only have an issue with the bow as a good starter weapon to unlock. While it is good to stay at range, it is not exactly the best to start off. Players will find the timing awkward to adjust to where as with the sword you just mash the attack button and occasionally special. While melee is considered dangerous starting out, I beg to differ. Limit testing is essential in Rogue-likes as you need to understand what you should be dodging or interrupting as soon as possible. Having watched a few new players I'd argue the shield is the best weapon to unlock first. The shield blocks attacks when you use the charge attack and has decent range/mobility with it. Not to mention the wall-slam is amazing for dealing extra damage and the dash attack with the shield is really good, but it is the special that makes the shield so good. The special ricochets to nearby enemies or destructible objects and can be potentially upgraded to bounce between more targets before returning to you. You are also free to attack while it does this. The bow while good for staying far away from new and otherwise unknown threats is not ideal for this as you have to stand still to charge your attacks or fire your volley. Standing still in this game is not recommended for long periods of time even if you have the range to get away with it sometimes. Bosses and mini-bosses typically have ranged attacks or ways to close the distance really quickly so you are a sitting duck briefly and that is no bueno. The shield and sword promote moving quickly and the shield is more versatile as it can do melee and ranged attacks fairly well. Boons to hunt for while using the shield: Athena Dash. This dash isn't specifically for the shield however given its usefulness I recommend it in most builds unless otherwise going for specific boons. I wouldn't fully dedicate to Athena, but if you want to splash her into your pool of boons the dash is always recommended. Poseidon: Boons to look for are his Attack and Special boons as you will be using them quite frequently with the shield I highly recommend you put Poseidon on one of these preferably Special. While you can do both, it isn't recommended as you'll be over committing, but early on sometimes you cannot help this. Next focus on boons that increase your wall slam damage or get rip tide for a debuff and extra DoT damage. Look for the duo boon with his brother Zeus when you have both Poseidon and Zeus boons on attack, special, and/or call. Speaking of Poseidon's Call, if you manage to acquire this boon it is quite decent although not the best call. It does a good amount of damage and has a decent duration and makes Zagreus invulnerable during. However it forces you to move forward as you are riding a wave. You can control it, but it is not able to turn as quickly as Zag can normally. Zeus: For Zeus you may want to get his Call, Dash, or get attack or special depending on which one you did not take with Poseidon. The chain lightning is not ideal on attack, but it can be extra AoE damage which is good for clearing small weak enemies. Special is more ideal for this however, but Poseidon's special is better for slam damage. Zeus Call is decent AoE damage and single target but you will not be invulnerable, but if you see it and have no other good options take it. Double Strike: This boon is really good for Zeus as whenever you cause lightning to chain or strike it has a chance to proc again. Pretty much a BiS for Zeus/Poseidon builds. Sea Storm, the duo for Zeus and Poseidon, whenever you strike an enemy with knockback they are struck by lightning. (Also can get from Poseidon boons if you have Zeus and Poseidon) Artemis: Crit damage is rather good, and arguably this makes Artemis a very versatile pick for boons. While she isn't the best with the shield, boons you want to look out for are her Attack, Dash Attack, or Flourish/Special. Cast is okay but more or less only meant for cast centric builds which you will get to later. She has passive boons that give all attacks a chance to crit, this is not necessarily core, but it is highly desirable even with the low % chance to crit. Hunter's Mark for debuff and making enemies easier to crit. Her call is one of the best for bursting bosses down. Hermes: Not the best, but a good support god as that all he offers. Extra Dashes, recovery while dashing after being hit, getting gold upon entering rooms and automatically delivering your blood stones/casts back to you. Don't prioritize him, but definitely keep an eye out. Aphrodite: Weakness is good for decreasing the damage you take and certainly a decent substitute if not accentuating goddess to get if you happen to miss out on Athena. Demeter: Not really that good for the shield, but if you have to take her chill is easy to apply but takes a lot of boons to make viable. Special would be my recommendation, as well as her legendary if you can get it. Dionysus: Dot damage and poison, can make you extra tanky if you have his cast Festive Fog which does good AoE damage and stuns unarmored targets. Also has boons to increase your durability while standing in festive fog and has an amazing duo with Zeus for his cast. However poison isn't necessary with the shield and is better saved for Bow or other weapons later. Ares: Good for special and can increase your damage for kills, also has a decent damaging dash and cast but needs to be sole focus and isn't all that useful for shield. Doom debuff is good but requires a lot of dedication to Ares. But with Ares Special you will be clearing rooms quickly! So definitely consider if you don't go Poseidon/Zeus focus. Daedulus Hammers: Focus on searching for special focused upgrades, particularly two. There is a special upgrade that allows you to do an AoE explosion when catching the shield, and the other which is probably key which allows you to throw your shield to more targets are the two I would recommend. This is just a recommendation for the shield when starting out, there are definitely other builds for it but with Zagreus aspect this is just my opinion on what to look out for!
Will be playing on Xbox series S with the game pass. Already played the game on PC but much prefer to play on console (big screen, comfortable seat). Really love the game but it is so complicated :-).
I really would love to play the game. Art Style and setting is just a perfect fit for me. But I hate rougelikes. Should I still try it? Anybody else who dislikes rougelikes but enjoyed Hades?
I have mixed feelings about most rougelikes, but this game is just an absolute masterpiece. They flipped the "die and start at the beginning" mechanic and made it one of the best features of the game. seriously, just try it

Nice video tho I do have to say a nice thing about hades is how some things you mentioned seem less important to me than others, its such a nice thing to have options.
This is good advice, except when it comes to weapons. Players should experiment and find the weapon(s) that suit their playstyle best. My favourite weapon is the Fists because I find the best way to mitigate enemy damage is to kill them as quickly as possible. The Aspect of Talos is especially good for compensating for the weapon's short range and for massively increasing your damage versus bosses.
@@ObsidianKnight90 Thanks! I suppose all weapons has pros and cons, just matter of taste who likes which 😉 And ofc melee vs range, but also all has pros and cons...

It's not quite as good as it seems since it only increases base damage. It's still a very solid damage boost, though. That said, using this keepsake forced me to play more defensively. Playing more defensively, I learned how to be more offensive without being reckless. It helped me improve a good deal. I now use other keepsakes to optimize my build, then switch to Skull Earring on the final floor. Skull Earring isn't as risky as it seems. Yes, you need your health below 35%, but that's 35% per death defiance, not total. If you're at 20% health with 3 death defiance remaining, you're really at 68% total health!
Just bought it yesterday. Extremely fun game but I don’t know why this game gets praise when people shit on Returnal? It’s literally like this game but guns & bigger budget. They’re both fantastic & good fun.
I maxed out all the dark currencies, I even maxed out death defiance, but one thing i wonder is, how do i get more defiles (the circles on the lower left corner)? I currently have 4 so far. It feels very Devil May Cry. In DMC games, 4 blue shards creates a blue orb. What is THAT currency in Hades?
The script for this seems like it was written by someone who has never played a video game in their life. “Enemy tells”. It’s called a windup by everyone else in the world

I know i kinda sucked, but me playing on switch portable is abit tacky as so much is happening in a small screen. going to try bigger screen to confirm my suspicion...

@@chadikhr7258 I have 20 hours so far. There’s much to it, it’s worth the money
“beyond Hades no one really takes jabs at you for dying”
*hypnos laughing nervously*
@@prateekn4110 I'm thinking about him but it doesn't feel like it since he is the comic relief
@@aaronrumph3291 lmfao u right, but honestly i’d have to disagree. hypnos made me cry more than laugh tbh. he bruised my soul man. that shit stings
@@prateekn4110 I can understand that, but I always saw death as a built in part of the game as there is new dialogue a good amount of time you return so to me a successful run is one where I have made progress in being able to upgrade something or closer to upgrading something.
It still hurts
I stopped playing Hades to watch this video. Finished 240 runs and still going strong.
Also thank you for your guides. Couldn't have finished Salt and Sanctuary without your wiki.
I am ABSOLUTELY ADDICTED! My favorite weapon is the gauntlets!
Although it seems like it is, this game is not really about skill with the sticks, it is really about figuring out a build and going for it.
This was a very helpful starting guide, having just started Hades and being less familiar with roughlikes. Thanks
This looks like a very addicting dungeon crawler rouge like action game. The combat and atmosphere looks incredible
- the key of a "smooth" run is the Boon (read the Codex!)
- the safest weapon is Shield
- the first aspect u should unlock and fully upgrade is Chaos Shield (my recommendation) / oc you can choose ur fav.
- the best talents from Mirror : Shadow Presence ,Death Defiance, Greater Reflex, Thick Skin, Privileged Status, Fated Persuasion (the order is up to preference)
- give the nectar to the Gods 1st, so u can have their keepsake. it will make u have the access to build ur Boon every run.
- best to unlock Megaera Companion 1st for the damage.
- best way to get Titan Blood is by fulfilling the Prophecy.
and last, pet Cerberus every single time before /after you make an escape attempt.
if anyone interested there's more that i can share
Not so much a question for help but what is your preferred God combos.
@@randomperson-up5vt guess will choose Aspect of Chaos - Vengeful Mood.
Thank you, I'm starting the game for the first time on ps5. This was super helpful.
Being able to wield what is basically Captain America’s shield has made this my favorite game since Ghost of Tsushima
Been scoring a lot of great deals lately, most of the games go right to the 'to be played soon-ish' shelf. Not Hades! Been excited since the console announcement, as evident by me mashing the track package button on this pre-order all day! 🤣
Been playing this nonstop on PS5. I love it so much.
So glad Hades came to consoles...I was ready to sell my soul just to get the game on PS5, one of the best games I have played in a long time
I'm playing it the last 4 months. I have finish it 150 times.
It's great. I can't stop playing it.
The bullrush is OP and I love it. IF you use it wisely you can go through the game with minimal damage
Got this off xbox games pass on release :-) not disapointed, its slick combat and fast movement makes it easier than expected but its a fun world with some challenging boss fights :-)
Great guide and info. Thx. :)
Got my PS5 copy. Loving it. And for only $30?! It even came with a download code for the music and a booklet that has a bunch of the characters in it. I miss the days when booklets with info on the game & or characters were in it. Hades makes clear there’s no excuse for that to not exist anymore.
Got it on Gamepass for $0
@@glenmcl I have a OneX but barely touch it. And was happy to support the studio 🤷🏽♂️
Awesome video! I did not know much about this game and will now be playing it on my PS5 this weekend!
Wow there's so much to take in for a new beginner.... thanks for your video though!
Ps4, already preordered it. Was waiting for a long time to finaly play this game
Im loving it on my Series X! So fun
Same on my series s
Useful guide, 5th guide I have watched, only one with real content. Keep up the good work.
Just bought the game today.. downloading now.. Can't wait!
For a more advanced level i wanted to know which boons to chose for which weapons, and to put them on the attack or special
With my experience i learned that boons that do alot of damage like athena, aphrodite, and demeter, are very good on slow / powerful attacks (especially on the hidden aspects of the weapons like Arthur sword or the hidden bow aspect)
Athena's dash is ridiculous good but i'm starting to prefer the dash of poseidon. Especially if the skill is high ranked and leveled a bit.
Makes the spear and gloves even better.
Thanks for the tips. Looking forward to this hitting game pass on friday. :)
Playing it on game pass… love it!
Thanks I was so confused at first and this video really helped
Love this game! 300+ runs on pc! Might get it for ps5 too just to dust that console of, such lack of games i been thinking about selling it.
This game is awesome, I purchased it early access on Steam and kept on playing after it's final release. Worth the time and money. Hugs
You didn’t mention anything about the alternative skills in the mirror of night. Would probably be useful information to new players.
the skills are just visual right? like the ones that are on the left side of the screen I don't need to change or equip anything cause it automatically does it's job right?
Not a big fan of rogue like but a huge fan of Supergiant. I play this game.
"Things I Wish I Knew Before I Played"
proceeds to list things that are explained in game as you unlock them
Pick this up today for ps5 and loving it, this guide is superful helpful so thank you!!!
I love this game so far for me the Spear is the best weapon but damn this game is very hard but adicted
Boons to hunt for while using the shield:
Athena Dash.
(Also can get from Poseidon boons if you have Zeus and Poseidon)
Artemis: Crit damage is rather good, and arguably this makes Artemis a very versatile pick for boons.
Nobody is reading all that...
This game is perfect for my switch!
Yes, I have it pre-ordered. Can't wait to pick it up, bring it home, and play!
Thank you for this, been looking forward to trying this game soon as I seen it coming to gamepass tomorrow. Gameplay looks fun

Fav game out rn
I love Hades. I already have it on PC and Switch. I’m going to be picking it up on PS5 next.
My favorite rougelike game rn is Risk Of Rain 2 so I’m really keen on seeing if this is worth it
Playing on PS5 on a 55 LG C1 OLED. Best hades experience to date. With that being said it was a blast on PC and I’m sure its just as fun on switch.
They flipped the "die and start at the beginning" mechanic and made it one of the best features of the game. seriously, just try it
I would say go for it. So far I have something about 12 failed atempts but I still feel like I made progress due to story going forward and permanent upgrades. I love this game
I had never played a roguelike before and hated the idea of playing the same game over and over. I've put about 500 hours into this game lol
Nice video tho I do have to say a nice thing about hades is how some things you mentioned seem less important to me than others, its such a nice thing to have options.
this game is super addicting and really fun
I almost beat this thing with the shield. It's my favorite weapon.
Just got the game PS5 and I'm so hyped
I didn't know you could upgrade weapons and unlock aspects until somewhere between heat 2 and 5 xD
Definitely on my list, looks great and well priced, but backlog +Elden Ring in front 😁👍
I would honestly say choose whoch wepon suits you the best.
I prefer this gun..
@@engels1978 The Adamant Rail is a great weapon as well!
@@ObsidianKnight90 Thanks! I suppose all weapons has pros and cons, just matter of taste who likes which 😉 And ofc melee vs range, but also all has pros and cons...
Same! Honestly the Twin Fists with the aspect of Talos is my favorite weapon! For the same reasons
If this game had a dark gothic dungeon setting it would have been my fav game of all time
You have done a superb gameplay video here. Mind if I
link it in the Gaming Leaderboards discord I created with some friends?
*-Don't invest Darkness in Chthonic Vitality,* wait till you get the alternate choice... it heals you whenever you pick up Darkness. And you are gonna need a lot of that anyway.
-DON'T touch Charon's money bag until you got a hang of the game.
-Fuck the Witches' Circle. Hard.
-Always go for Hermes
-Always go for Chaos... stack Chaos to break the game. ^^
-Always go for Eurydice, exclamation mark in Asphodel. €dit: Eurydice>Hermes>Chaos>Hammer
-Try to get complimentary boons (double lightning strikes for example).
-Unless you have unlocked EVERYTHING you can buy, don't sell Ambrosia or Titan Blood. You'd regret it once you know what they unlock.
Just downloaded it 20 mins ago looking forward to many hours of fun

I love the soulsborne series! So difficulty isn’t an issue, but not a fan of roguelike games.. I just hear praise for this game. Is it worth it even with the roguelike element ?
Yes
You will feel right at home in this game. They have a modifier system that opens up later that let's you make the game progressively harder.
@@randomperson-up5vt like I loved returnal, but the die and start from the beginning and grinding in that manner wasn’t for me.. love the soulsborne games. Think I’ll get this seeing it’s on the cheaper side for the PS5 version
@@zzzeusasmr737 I mean once you beat souls games you start a ng+. So dying and repeating will be nothing new. Just a quicker repeat in mind.
Pierced butterfly is the best keepsake extra damage is always clutch
It's not quite as good as it seems since it only increases base damage. It's still a very solid damage boost, though.
That said, using this keepsake forced me to play more defensively. Playing more defensively, I learned how to be more offensive without being reckless. It helped me improve a good deal.
I now use other keepsakes to optimize my build, then switch to Skull Earring on the final floor.
Skull Earring isn't as risky as it seems. Yes, you need your health below 35%, but that's 35% per death defiance, not total.
If you're at 20% health with 3 death defiance remaining, you're really at 68% total health!
Beat game have ridiculous amount of hours in it still immediately clicked cannot wait for ps5 version.
Did you play it on PS5? Does it support DualSense?
Just bought it yesterday. Extremely fun game but I don’t know why this game gets praise when people shit on Returnal? It’s literally like this game but guns & bigger budget. They’re both fantastic & good fun.
I maxed out all the dark currencies, I even maxed out death defiance, but one thing i wonder is, how do i get more defiles (the circles on the lower left corner)? I currently have 4 so far. It feels very Devil May Cry. In DMC games, 4 blue shards creates a blue orb. What is THAT currency in Hades?
Playing on gamepass on Xbox. I completely love what microsoft is doing with the platform.
Good verbal advice, but my goodness the gameplay on the screen is so badly below average
been playing 40 hours since i got it yesterday man this is addicting
Between the two recent rouglites that have released should I play Returnal first or Hades? I’m having a hard time deciding which one.
Hades is the best. Play returnal after.
Returnal is miles ahead of Hades
this game is nearly perfect in everything it tries to be
Can this game be put on an easy mode?
Their is god mode
That’s great! Thank you I will be buying it

First off the bow is terrible even for learning,
second, adding knockback to any skill other then dash is terrible u constantly have to move to adjust for knock back. Atleast adding it to dash gives u breathing room.
After beating the 1st boss (forgot her name) and dying in the lava stage do you have to start all over?
Yes. Thats what a roguelite is.
I'll be playing on playstation when I get it
the constant moving becomes tiring very fast
I know i kinda sucked, but me playing on switch portable is abit tacky as so much is happening in a small screen. going to try bigger screen to confirm my suspicion...
