    Can't wait for this kickstarter. I am a sock cranker and put my yarn on cones before I make the socks. This looks like an amazing improvement over the hand winding I have to do now. Well done on the new product.

    Love the idea of the cone holder . It has alway been problematic issue with cones tipping over when using it!!! That will be a popular with the weavers and sock machine users and knitters. I am personally looking forward to it.
    Great design on the cone itself too in addition to the slot at the bottom to hold the yarn. Foot switch wow!
    Can’t wait to plug in my EEW counter!!! You have a winner here!!!

    Great final video! Love everything about it!! Wonderful Design.
    1 question please?
    Just plugging in the EEW counter to the cone winder does it count the yardage without running the yarn through the counter?
    Thank you! Looking forward to the Kickstarter!

      @MauriceRibble 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a port on the back that you can plug into the Cone Winder and I will probably include that cable with the Cone Winder (it is a very standard and easy to get cable though). To measure the length you need to plug in a Yarn Counter and run the yarn through the counter before the tensioner.

    I've been excited for this for a long time! Seems like forever ago when you first showed a 3D printed concept version, but in reality you've actually accomplished this pretty quickly with all your other projects! Definitely getting in on the Kickstart for this. I didn't on the Nano 2 because I figured I already had a Nano and the 6.0, but I've since decided that I need the Nano 2! Anyway I have a question to make sure I understand... It looks like you can use the yarn counter with the cone winder without having to actually run the yarn through the counter. Is that correct? Does the software work together in such a way where the yarn counter will measure based off the rotations of the cone winder? Also, do you have an idea of how many cones you plan to include? Then will you include an option to buy additional cones, or have just the cones in your store? I appreciate you putting out files for people to 3D print. I bought a 3D printer and ended up selling ot because we couldn't get anything to print successfully, lol. But I've always been glad that there are those who sell extra 3D printed parts for the EEW products. So I am wondering if a file for cones will be something you will put out if you don't sell them. Thanks again for all your fantastic products Maurice!

    • @DreamingRobotsBlog
      @DreamingRobotsBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cone winder has a plug to connect to the yarn counter, but to measure the length you'll need to run the yarn through the yarn counter. I'll have a video about this in the future. The reason they are connected is you can use the Yarn Counter to stop the cone winder at a certain length of yarn that you program into the yarn counter.
      I need to figure out how many cones will fit into the box. That will probably be what decides how many cones I include. My goal is something like 10, but again final number depends on what cleanly fits into the box I design. I also want to make a second box that can be connected which has a lot more cones and will make that an option for the Kickstarter since I've been told by many people that it's really important to get a lot of cones. I will also make files available to 3d print cones, but my injection molded cones are probably better quality (though the 3d ones do work fine in testing).

  • @bpcraftyable
    @bpcraftyable 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One more comment... really a few questions... how many cones will be included with winder? How will you sell cones ... group of 3, 6, 12, or more. Would suggest a minimum of 6! Excited to have a cone that can be used with dyeing!

    • @MauriceRibble
      @MauriceRibble 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right now I'm leaning towards 10 by default, but some people have said they want tons of cones so I'm trying to figure out a good number for people who want a lot of cones for the Kickstarter. It will probably be whatever I can fit into an easy to ship box.

  • @nancymahala6754

    Very interested in this cone winder. Forgive me if I missed this info in the video. Will the tensioner and cone winder have a clamping device attached to them or will a mounting board be required? Thanks

    • @DreamingRobotsBlog
      @DreamingRobotsBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The tensioner will come with a clamp. The Cone Winder won't, but I designed a lip on the back so it's easy to use your own clamp. Also in many cases the cone winder doesn't need a clamp because it's pretty heavy, but I will recommend clamping or screwing it down.

    I'm a machine knitter.
    I'll need lots of cones. Are there storage cones? With small nobs, does yarn slide off to transfer? Or what shall I do?

    • @MauriceRibble
      @MauriceRibble 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm planning to sell the cones at an affordable price (hopefully under $2 each), and will talk about how to adapt this to accept some other types of cones later (actually there are some earlier videos about it, but I'll be redoing it since some things have changed).

  • @mauveesone

    What im looking for is to make 3 smaller cones of serger thread from my main big serger thead cone instead of buying 4 large serger cones because I dont sew enough to ever use all four large cones, I do with black and white color thread but not other colors, so in lue of buying 4 large cones of a mustard color I rather buy one and make 3 smaller ones to use on my serger. Can your machine make a shorter or smaller (diameter-wise) cone. I cant use a regular winder as it does not wind like a cone but more like a bobbin and my machine seems to pull up spool from the spool holder. your winder is really nice. Im soley looking for a serger cone winder and cannot find a home use one, the commercials are in the thousands, thats crazy, I like how it looks, i seen one like this on etsy but its from europe and need 220v. I have a 220 outlet but its outside and I dont want to wind outside, LOL
