- Today I'm reviewing the 2.1 channel HT S400 Soundbar and wireless subwoofer from Sony.
I'm pretty happy with how I arranged the cables :)

Does the LED on the soundbar that says "TV" ever turn off? Or is it on constantly?

I am getting latency fromthe subwoofer bass, either in music or movies, any way i can fix this?
💥💥 I just saw this tonight at Best Buy for $179 but I wasn’t able to hear it since their display rack was broke. I did hear a Sonos with no sub that sounded pretty good for $249. They had a Polk with a sub for $399 that sounded amazing. I wish that I could’ve heard this Sony. 🤟🏼

@@handyandymedia I went back over the weekend and the display was working and I instantly bought it. It sounds really great in my daughters dorm room and she had it going for her birthday party that night.
She texted me the next day saying that she received a warning from security about it being too loud and booming. HAA. That’s my girl 💝
Polks are always amazing!
That is a very elaborate set up with the projector, walls, divders etc
When I renovated the suite, I built it around a projector being mounted in the ceiling. Best decision ever, turn a wall into a huge projector screen.

That's great to hear! Btw, I have an upcoming review for a ultra-short-throw projector from Hisense that is made for smaller rooms like an apartment. Sit it on a table and it turns your wall into a 4K screen. Look out for it, coming soon!

@@handyandymedia received and have used. I would consider it OK for what the cost was. The sub isn’t really a sub. You can hear voices from it. It’s really just a woofer IMO. It’ll work for the treadmill room though. 😁

@@phackqu Really good so far. Gets way too loud for my need and sound is clean. I always thought those virtual surround sound features were a gimmick but this one is truly amazing (call sound field I think) improve music and movies allot without sounding fake.
what is the difference between hts 400 and hts 400 cel?
Nothing sounds like those old huge speakers you mention haha. I miss my old technics sb-a54's,cr77's,l96's and cr99's .. as a 32 year old I'm glad I got to experience these older systems.
Agreed, I love the analogue sound of home speakers from when I was young. I wish I never sold my old speakers.
Best Buy has it on sale for $100 off the original price. I'm planning on jumping on that deal because I need a decent soundbar to make my Entertainment Room complete. Also, I already have a Sony Bravia TV so hooking it up will be effortless.
Update: After giving the soundbar a thorough test this weekend, I have to say I’m very impressed. It delivered room filling sound with shows and movies. It was exactly what I was looking for. I love it.

I have sony tv and looking at this one. I'm contemplating between this one and Vizio M series 5.1, heard it'sreally good. I'm sure 5.1 is better but wondering if it's that much of a difference as far as sound quality and it's worth spending more.
Yo. Was just at Bestbuy and I played Jimmy Jazz by The Clash on this thing. And that Bass Line stood out so damn much! And it was so clean. I hope it's not some cabinet trick l. Cause imma get one

Kept it because cleaning up the mids with my MSI Realtek EQ made the sound way better. the bass is impressive. Almost too impressive. It's usually turned down to -4 haha

Does the OLED display show a numeric value for the subwoofer when adjusting the level?
I think it does but don't quote me on it because I've reviewed other soundbars since so I can't be certain. Hopefully someone who just bought it can confirm here.
Do you only need a Bluetooth receiver, or a Bluetooth sender/receiver.
I picked up a receiver and haven’t been able to pair the two.

I can only speak about the HT-S400 as that is what I reviewed. I was very impressed with it. I don't think you can go wrong with either, Sony still makes great audio products.

@@marcin2211I have bought hts40r. Personally it's good but the volume dips low very badly. Much better than the s400. I would suggest personally take time search and buy a good system.
Any comparison to the Bose Solo Sound Bar II?
No but I will look out for it. I'm a big fan of Bose.
Does it have seperate sound modes and is it good for movie dialogue?
Yes to both. It's awesome for watching movies, you will not be disappointed
Which is good for bass lover? Jbl deep bads 2.1 or sony ht s400
I think both are good for bass. The only way to really tell is to do a side by side comparison.

What minimum sized TV can it be matched with? I have a 43" TV and would like to buy this Sony HT-S400.
It’s alittle less than 36 inches wide. Measure how wide your tv is. Different TVs have different size bezels so widths will be different between brands and models.
What's the max volume I should turn my sound bar up to ?
80%. I test it at full volume to see if I hear distortion but you shouldn't go higher than 80% IMO.

Yes any device with Bluetooth, it should connect
What is the max bass volume gain on this Speaker? is it +9 or +11 (before max)?

Can you use this just via Bluetooth and you're phone?! Or only with a tv
Yes you can connect to it via Bluetooth on your smartphone
May I know what’s the difference between the voice on and voice off function on it? I couldn’t figure out the difference especially when I listen to the music thanks
Did you try it watching TV shows or movies and turning that function on and off?

Do I need the Hdmi and digital cable cords or just 1 ?
Depends on your TV but the audio signal is sent through the HDMI cable so that should work for most TVs

What am I doing wrong my bass sucks.i use the remote to up the bass and it says Max..i almost have to max out the volume to get any bass
Something doesn't seem right. Try connecting it to another device and see what happens.

I just purchase the HTSC 40 from Costco, is the same ?
Probably pretty close. Costco gets different model numbers just for them. So it won't be exact, but I'm sure it will still sound good.

I've never heard of any issues with the magnetic field. But I will look into it.

Actually is a Great soundbar for my living room. I tested it on music and it is going well. If you do not have great demands it will suit you well.

How does this compare to the sony s350?
I haven't tried the S350. If I do get it, I will compare the two. I imagine they would be pretty similar.
overall comparison with s350, the s400 is better as far as i looked around on the internet.
S350 is discontinued so go for 400
What are the ohms of them?
I don't know off the top of my head but I'm sure you can find it in the spec sheet.

I think you can't go wrong with either, it really comes down to price IMO
The soundbar has 1 HDMI connector. Will that connector take the sound from the TV Hdmi Arc connector?
Another way to ask this question is, does the HDMI connector work as an input like the optical connector?
I can't remember if that HDMI port is Arc or not. If it is, then you should be good to go.
I got one for 150 and it sucks because it uses only optical

No, If I give something a good review, I'm impressed. Sony tends to always make good audio products, unlike Raycon which I've trashed many times on this channel.
First thought was Ewwww electronics over a heater. It's like those dumbest who put TVs above a fireplace stand.
I agree, but that's the best position for the soundbar. That shelf helps absorbed the heat. The last soundbar I had without the shelf eventually melted! Lesson learned.

This sound bar and subwoofer has the sound of computer speakers. 330 watts my ass it's garbage and Sony should be embarrassed putting this junk out, I wish I'd never bought this junk subwoofer so light you can pick it up with one finger. I know sound and this ain't it.
