  • A "How To" video showing removal of a small stump without digging by using an engine hoist to break the roots and lift the stump out of the ground. This helped me avoid damaging irrigation and low voltage lines in the area. It also saved me about $2000 in cost from landscapers who would not guarantee that they would not destroy the underground lines.

Was that a wire buried under?

The root balls of the junipers had wire cages to hold them together. This is common nursery practice and helps to hold them together during transport. They eventually rust away after 5 years or so but they can be a hassle if you have to rip the plants out.

And the other thing you see there is a drip irrigation hose.

If you use a water hose while take that up to spray the roots you could’ve returned most of that dirt to the ground instead of taking it wherever you did
