The Lexus line up looks TOO similar, only the taillights are really different, and most people would just assume they're aftermarket.
Gonna go on a limb and say it's a Canadian model, with a bit of a higher ground clearance for those snowy days. And it's also AWD, so yeah, it explains a lot.

It's the air suspension. I've got a Crown Majesta with air suspension and it looks identical on launch and cornering. I'm surprised at how boaty is looks. Definitely would consider one of these when they depreciate more.
Interior is really nice for this latest LS, but powertrain, tech/infotainment, exterior styling, handling, and price all let it down. I'd probably either go for the Genesis for its bargain price and nicer tech features or the BMW 7 for its class leading performance and imo best overall styling now that the latest S-class looks so crappy.

@@tren133 I personally prefer the styling vs the G90. It’s also a tad quicker and barely more expensive. My first choice would be a mildly used CT6-V though. Still think the S class is king but the V is so compelling from a driving perspective and imo is the best looking of the bunch.
@@alh06 Yes I agree that the Genesis would only be considered for value for money. Driving dynamics it would be the 7 series all the way. Lexus is all about the reliability, but the new ones also have really nice interiors. For most consumers reliability plus nice interior is actually the most important, although the Lexus is getting pretty expensive these days, not like when they first came out when the OG LS400 offered S-class quality and performance for E-class prices.

I love the interior the best, whoever designed it truly cared. Many of the things I don't like about other luxury cars today is the stuck-up screens and dashboards that don't mold together at all (cough Mercedes Benz), but in the LS500 the dashboard is beautiful and everything flows together flawlessly, except for the touchscreen in the middle that is outside of the dashboard line with the clock. Looked better in the previous few years when the screen and clock were in the dash, even if it wasn't a touchscreen. I'm a stickler for thoughtful design, and I'd rather have a flawlessly designed and detailed dashboard than tOuChScReEnS. The new C class is the worst in this regard, they ditched thoughtful design for giant iPads.

I work at a premium car dealership we had this 2018 model and a 730LD 2020 and the massaging seats in this car is insane! I haven’t experienced anything like it ever in any car.. It feels like a proper massage. Also for the people who buy these mostly old gentlemen they actually care for those massaging seats!
Lexus certainly has a lot of respect throughout the car industry, and i think the great built quality , longevity and reliability has a lot to do with that.

Have owned LS430 2001, 2003 and currently driving the LS460 2008. Saving for the LS500 2018. Like the understated luxury and comfort. Like the minimal maintenance and repair costs. I would like to think that would be the last upgrade in my life.
Lexus makes the best interior hands down. Not even the S class comes close. I don't like huge flowing screens. This is the pinnacle of perfect interior for me. Such a beautiful car and interior.
I think this Lexus LS 500 will be around a lot longer (reliability) then any cars you compared it too in this segment ! It's the best Japanese luxury car on the market that you can trust !
My dad got a LS500 f sport last year, it’s so comfortable it’s insane, my dad will go over speed bumps at like 15 mph and u can barely feel anything. But they’re so long it’s kinda a bitch to drive

I would take the LS 500 over any of the Europerans since reliability is Lexus' strong suit. I don't know about the Genesis and its reliability. I have a 2011 RX450h and LOVE the car! Never a problem but the tech is generally older. But I can live with older tech since it starts every time, it has no issues with anything - and to me, that is true luxury!
The glass accents in the LS500 are _the_ coolest design feature I've ever seen in a production vehicle! The car as a whole looks good too. For some reason though, I feel this should either be a V8 or a BEV. A turbo 6 isn't a _real_ flagship, IMO.

what I love about Lexus is that its Luxury under the radar. Its nice being driven or to ride in comfort without standing out and creating attention towards yourself as one would in a Mercedes, Rolls Royce or Bentley.
That interior is absolutely amazing looking those door panels are just next level. Little disappointing they didn't put the V8 from the LC 500 in it. The v6 they put in it does sound good fortunately but just seems to me an LS should have a V8. I think I would just buy an older LS for a lot less money you still going to get bank vault quiet comfortable ride which is the primary purpose
Great review. LS500, S class, and 7 series are the same. Boring exterior with amazing interiors. Why even bring up the track, no one that buys these care about the track. The Lexus is the best designed for what it’s used for. Sitting in traffic and on the cell phone. It’s the most comfortable and the quietest of the three. So if you have a small body part and need a Mercedes or BMW emblem on the hood, the LS is not for you.
Not as sporty as the S class or 7 series but it will hold it’s value much better and the cost ownership is way lower. 4 years or less get 7/S/A8 if you keep you vehicle for long periods get the LS.
Why don't you guys ever spend time discussing the audio systems in vehicle's? You spend more time talking about fingerprints on the gloss black consoles! The audio in this Ls 500 is supposed to be a killer one! But there was no mention of it! I think people want to know about the audio more than you might think!

Lexus really needs to use tester cars with different interior colors. It makes a world of difference especially on the LS.

They use red because you can see the details better. This is also why a lot of test cars are red, mostly from the non-luxury segment.

If you didn't notice, the rear squatted a bit more before the launch to minimize the backwards lurch when accelerating.

The LS has always been underrated, specially for this gen.

Not as sporty as the S class or 7 series but it will hold it’s value much better and the cost ownership is way lower. 4 years or less get 7/S/A8 if you keep you vehicle for long periods get the LS.

Why don't you guys ever spend time discussing the audio systems in vehicle's? You spend more time talking about fingerprints on the gloss black consoles! The audio in this Ls 500 is supposed to be a killer one! But there was no mention of it! I think people want to know about the audio more than you might think!

Damn, the 2019/2020 model looked so much better. Hard to distinguish this with other Lexus models from most angle.
