That plug tester is a joke - spark plugs have to function Under Pressure considerably HIGHER than atmospheric, nearly any plug (good Or bad) will fire at atmospheric pressure. NEXT
Yeah no shit but do you know how an electrician can tell you that the spark off that spark plug is good? They call us sparkles for a reason after all. Let me share some knowledge you could have chosen to share but didn't. Or maybe you don't know so you might learn how that the tester isn't a joke. Under normal atmospheric conditions the spark coming off of the spark plug on the tester should be blue or white if it's a good plug. Arcs of that color indicates a high voltage capable of igniting fuel under pressure. If it is yellow or red the spark plug is burnt out. The metal is too weak to create a strong enough arc to ignite fuel under pressure. So the tester helps if you know how to use it and interpret it no need to be a dick and hate on a useful tool.

It is surprisingly sad that a lot of people don't know this (as per the comments). Use thinner (paint thinner). I like to use a crystal flask though. 20 minutes and you are almost done, just use a toothbrush to finish the cleaning. It won't hurt a device whose job involves being exposed to a mix of gasoline + air + oil fumes at 2500+ °F. If a spark plug gets damaged by doing this, consider yourself lucky because it's exactly what was going to happen anyway inside your engine.

@@gartheligon140 It’s just a suggestion, I don’t think it will damage the plug if it’s only soaked for a minute or two. The sulphuric acid should, in theory, dissolve the carbon deposits, emitting carbon dioxide gas. H2SO4 and C I think will produce CO2 and maybe H2. Perhaps someone can inform us.
lol neat machine. It would be fun to compare a new plug to and old one(clean or not) and see the difference of where the sparks travel and how different they look. But I guess you can’t show that as that would demonstrate why spark plugs need to be replaced. Nothing wrong with cleaning a fouled spark plug but before you waste time doing it you should correct the problem that led to it getting fouled. In a properly running engine the plugs never get fouled. They do however wear out. Ever notice how all new spark plugs either have a sharp edge on the electrode or a point(that also has sharp edges). That spark plug was clean but was also rounder than a ball point pen, hence the terrible sparks in the middle of the electrode.
It's getting the satisfaction of knowing you were able keep them going a little longer. Not everyone has the time to do this but if you do it can be rewarding to some people. I love it when I can take something apart, clean it up and keep it going.

THE LIQUID HE USED IS CALLED ENGINE CLEANER OR ENGINE DEGREASER. IT COMES IN DIFFERENT COLORS BUT DOES BASICALLY THE SAME THING JUST DONT USE THE FOAM TYPE FOR THIS.
thanks you written that dont use foam, I was thinking that I have a Foam type which I can use :)
is it ok to use brake cleaner or is too strong? Is cheaper also and I have a unopened can
@@davidBarrel it might work but you have to let it sit in the cup for a while and brake cleaner tends to evaporate.
Whats the ponit in cleaning your sparkplugs lijke this.
They spark and have the rigth gap or they do not.
They will not spark better or something like that when dipped and cleaned in some degreasing fluid.
You should have tested them also when they where dirty so you would see there is no difference at all.
whats the secret sauce?
Nobody knows, Nobody knows
i knows
Isopropyl Alcohol
He said engine degreser
😢
Please ask us a... white liquid name please 🙏🏻
the best to change after 30000 or 35000km the best but if the spark plug become dirty before this distance there is problem at engine maby oil coming on spark plug or the burning not enough inside the roomburner this way good for short time even change spark plug
You’re insane if you spark plugs only last 35000 km the new laser iridium’s and Ruthenium’s last over 160,000 km😂
The internal electrode resistance usually increases with age which is irreversible, no point cleaning a dud measure it first at least
Cleaning spark plugs is a waste of time and money.
guys like this will do that to a 80k mile plug and think its new now lmao
I recently bought a small Prius C with only 19K miles. I've put 1K miles, and am thinking of cleaning MAF sensor and maybe the spark plugs. It should still have original Denso Iridiums(good for 100K)... worth "cleaning"?
What about using acid for cleaning??
Not good it will make it short internally
Only takes 5min with wire brush . Bit of sandpaper and a squirt of wd40 or simular .
It's only a light going over . Don't scrub the crap out them.
Don't use wire brush, will damage the coating on the plugs.
@@cambs0181 I had that happen to my Mercedes ,could not figure out the problem, took my car to a Mercedes mechanic,he could not figure it out. Brought my car home, put in new plugs ,it ran perfect!
It was a plastic cup so definitely not gas or solvent based which would dissolve the plastic, acid or water based more likely.
هل هذا زيت الذي أضيف أو سائل اخر وما هو ؟
مادة متل ماء الاودجفيل
.اسمها بال عربي خل التفاح الابيض تحصله في البهارات بس أرتدي كمامه
Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
My vehicle has a problem and cannot start.
nothing happens if the key is turned to the start position.
The ignition coil will also burn after a few hours after the battery is connected.
My vehicle was in the workshop more than 6 months ago.
can anyone help?
Thank You.
I’d pay a shop a diagnostic fee then find a local junkyard and start swapping parts. It’s easier than you think. TH-cam how to’s. Watch different people do the same task different ways, learn tips, learn what to watch for, become a man
Don't tell me the fluid used , I'm psychic. Duhhh
Any Rust remover dude its not rocket science 😂😂😂😂
Vinegar and baking soda would work at removing rust but may be too harsh on a spark plugs electrode.
Oven cleaner works great!👍
Great video we don't even know what you used to clean them nice
Hi. What are they being soaked in? Thx.
piss
What's the liquid cleaner?
Or just take the money you used to buy this chemical and buy a set of new spark plugs 🤣
if you have out of stock spark plugs like me and you have 2.000 kms on the old ones and just clean the engine maybe you don't want to wait
@@davidBarrel out of stock plugs? Are you joking? you can always find plugs wich fits and with similar thermal rating! And when plugs are worn no cleaning can fix them! Go to an intelligent mechanic, not to some employee Who cant even confront plugs and told you this BS because he doesnt find them on his catalogue
@@gillespriod5509 well I've just had to use the same plugs because of this problem: no-stock , waiting for them
none of:
AR45-7888-OE
Bosch 0242230500
Ngk FR5cP. champion........ shit happens
Uh mine are 6x13 dlls, does that much cleaner and a cup cost that?
In most cases, cost of cleaner lot cheaper then spark plugs.
No, this filling will lock the bubble inside. It is important to clean all the blocking and conductive partricles from inside also.
Yeah those damned conductive particles are always getting in the way when I want electricity to go through something 🙄
Le vinaigre 9% quelques deux heures. Très efficace
Doesnt make it rust ?
I was curious myself what kind of liquid you were using?
Использовал для своих свечей Azelit, средство для выведения жира с газовой плиты. 45 мин откисали, после промыл проточной водой с зубной щеткой и просушил .
Excellent video on how to clean, test, and reuse something if necessary. It isn’t a snake oil miracle cure claim but rather a great tip for anyone with shallow pockets, and they’re plentiful these days. Unfortunately I see the usual personality disorder suspects trying once again to feel good by hating on a strangers video. Some videos are well deserving of that hatred but this one is not. If you don’t like it don’t watch it, or at a minimum be respectful with constructive criticism.
I love technical videos. Thank You and Have A Productive Day! 🛻🧰🛠️
someone tell me, what name's the cleaner
Rust romver
To me, that is more than good. I want to know what fluid are they immersed in, is it petrol or somecleaner?
Thanks.
Above the word subscribe click the down arrow for descriptions. Spark plug tester, any engine degreser I guess will work, even gasoline.
Just thinking, would old battery acid do the same job!
@@nickybritain3661 I never tried batt acid, maybe you can try with an old plug.
And the magic liquid is???
It could be any de solvents liquids like break cleaners,WD40s,lacker thinners and gasolines.
Jizz 😂
Had the volume on high and got jump scared at the end lol.
My only gripe is that you didn't say which cleaner you used. Seems to work alright.
From description "Watch how clean spark plug in engine degreaser solution"
Never , Never put a dangerous chemical into a drinking glass, i know a small boy that drank a chemical thinking it was soda and just about died.
Oh yeah, You can use wire brush instead 😉
What ill use is carb cleaner or gasoline to clean the carbon off.
Use them puppies til the electrodes
burn off!! Yeah Buddy!
Too damn cheap to buy fresh plugs, but I
get it, it the girlfriend's car... 🤔
It's getting the satisfaction of knowing you were able keep them going a little longer. Not everyone has the time to do this but if you do it can be rewarding to some people.
I love it when I can take something apart, clean it up and keep it going.
What kind of liquid did you use in cleaning the sparkplug.
Wire brush and gap them anything more than that for that type and it's not worth it
Tht liquid looks like, degreaser or Brake fluid.
What are you using
Iridiums are good for 100k, if you can't afford new plugs every 100k you shouldn't be driving.
Save environment by not buying new ones. Even rich people will try to catch a small soap from escaping in their bathroom.
My 2004 Honda Odyssey of 439K miles cleanse once using wire wheel brush and soak it using Chemtool B-12 and put it back the same original NGK spark plugs.
Sometimes other issues happen which resulted in needing to clean plugs!!!!
Landfills love you
Confused on you having low plug budget plus having the knowledge of refurbishing used plugs equal you should now no longer drive?
Sound? Are you using atomic sulphuric acid?
Issac never showed up tonight 🙄
Reliable as ever 😁
We used to use gas and a small wire brush.🤜🏿🤛🏿😎
I keep Awsome around the house now I have learn something new.
What liquid did/could you use?
