Give the person a break. We don’t need any haters on here. Keep your opinions to yourself. He did a great job. I would start doing the same. If you have money, well good, buy them, if you want to use a wire brush, use it. He is just giving his own opinion. Take the advice if you want or don’t take it. Easy enough!

use hcl to cleab the carbon, it fast anf easy, don't forget to coat the spark using grease, any grease you got, i use molybdenum grease, coat it, and heat it using a cigarette lighter, coat with engine oil and heat it again, done.

The cleaning liguid is called LA Awesome. You'll mostly find it in the Dollar Generals, Family Dollars Tree stores. Works GREAT on EVERYTHING. especially anything greasy or oily. Brake dust on wheels, most spots on car upholstery, plastics, rings around the tub and toilets. Freakin everything! Spray on wait 10-15 seconds, then wipe off. Better than Purple Power by far. I've been using this stuff for about 10 yrs now. Best degreaser for only $1-$1.25 or $3 for the refill jug. Best bang for a buck...literally

The refill bottles of LA Awesome is clear liquid, the spray bottles can be yellow or clear, depending on ?
Been using it 25+. Here's a hot tip & a million dollar idea: mix LA Awesome & a good de-ruster. I prefer Metal Rescue; had best results.
Mix to 60/40 ratio, light on LA Aswesome. I use it in a plastic brass casing tumbler made by the ubiquitous brand of green reloading equipment. Had to line the basket w/ 1/4" mesh plastic to keep smaller fasteners/parts contained.
Give it a dozen gentle tumbles every 4-5 hours for a day or so; greasy, dirty, rusty stuff comes out looking great. Only gets 85-90% of rust, but it's the lowest work method I've found.
W/ some testing, I think 100% rust removal is possible. Heat, maybe?

LA Awesome is a type of alcohol, not an acid, (or if it is, it's near neutral ph; doesn't burn or tingle skin. But it will soften/ discolor some paints, so be cautious & test, first.

Yeah no shit but do you know how an electrician can tell you that the spark off that spark plug is good? They call us sparkles for a reason after all. Let me share some knowledge you could have chosen to share but didn't. Or maybe you don't know so you might learn how that the tester isn't a joke. Under normal atmospheric conditions the spark coming off of the spark plug on the tester should be blue or white if it's a good plug. Arcs of that color indicates a high voltage capable of igniting fuel under pressure. If it is yellow or red the spark plug is burnt out. The metal is too weak to create a strong enough arc to ignite fuel under pressure. So the tester helps if you know how to use it and interpret it no need to be a dick and hate on a useful tool.

    • @ryanheinig7975
      @ryanheinig7975 ปีที่แล้ว +9

You must not understand combustion engines. It's not the spark plugs that need pressure, none what so ever. Pressure is needed to create higher pressure from spark igniting the gas, to create combustion in essence, turn the engine.

I was a poor college student in the early '70s & my best friend's mom gave me his '59 Ford Panel Delivery after he was killwd in a car wreck.
It was a 6 cyl, 3 speed, on the column. Every 6 months or so, it'd start running bad.
I'd check the points, cap & rotor contacts & they'd all look good.
I'd then take the plugs out, chk the gap, (always to spec), then put them back in... a different cylinder.
It'd run like a champ, for about 6 months. Didn't put a lot of miles on it, since I had a 58 Chev 1/2 ton w/ a newer SBC I'd built, in it, but I tricked that old Ford into thinking it had new plugs, for about 2 yrs.
Never needed anything other than the plugs rearranged; if they went back in the same hole, it'd run like crap.

It is surprisingly sad that a lot of people don't know this (as per the comments). Use thinner (paint thinner). I like to use a crystal flask though. 20 minutes and you are almost done, just use a toothbrush to finish the cleaning. It won't hurt a device whose job involves being exposed to a mix of gasoline + air + oil fumes at 2500+ °F. If a spark plug gets damaged by doing this, consider yourself lucky because it's exactly what was going to happen anyway inside your engine.

lol neat machine. It would be fun to compare a new plug to and old one(clean or not) and see the difference of where the sparks travel and how different they look. But I guess you can’t show that as that would demonstrate why spark plugs need to be replaced.
Nothing wrong with cleaning a fouled spark plug but before you waste time doing it you should correct the problem that led to it getting fouled.
In a properly running engine the plugs never get fouled. They do however wear out. Ever notice how all new spark plugs either have a sharp edge on the electrode or a point(that also has sharp edges).
That spark plug was clean but was also rounder than a ball point pen, hence the terrible sparks in the middle of the electrode.
