You literally made it better then it was originally, the cast marks on the wheel and the welding that wasn’t smoothed out, you remade so many parts, you are truly amazing at your craft.
Not only new tires, he made new moulds for them and the handles! Moulds that will probably only be used this once. Not even bike nanufacturers have moulds that nice ...
I have watched dozens of restorations by 'my mechanics' and this one is my favorite so far. The variety of techniques, the problem solving, the care, and attention to detail... excellent.
The word 'restoration' is just inadequate here. By removing casting marks, reinforcing weak spots, and putting on a better coat of paint, he's making these items BETTER than they were originally, while still keeping the aesthetic and feel of them the same. Hats off. This is astonishing workmanship, as well as beautifully filmed and edited.
I love how every couple of months or so My Mechanics comes down his mountain to flex on other restoration channels and show us mortals how things are done proper :))
Watching you build your own tires and handles is a video that plays in my head whenever I get tired of a project and start thinking about cutting corners. It inspires me to get back to work and not settle for mediocrity. Thank you
At this point, it goes beyond restoration. It becomes art. The product, the video editing, the amount of intelligence to do what he does, and the patients. I wish I could unwatch this video so I could rewatch it again. I am in awe.
There are two lines of though when it comes to restauration: "Be as faithful to a new original as possible" and "It was only new once!". The former tries to recreate exactly what it would have looked like from the factory. Some consider this a form of forgery, others swear by it. The latter tries to make it the best it can be while staying reasonably faithful to how the overall impression of the new item was. It's basically "make it how it was" vs "make it how I *remember* it".... Being a bit of a romantic who always remembers things better than they factually were, I'm squarely in the latter camp.... and so, it appears, is My Mechanics.
Let's face it. The reason we watch these videos is not only the craftmanship and skill/knowledge displayed, but also because we don't have near the patience of this man. We barely have enough patience to watch the edited video. But the wheel and tire really made me smile. You are one amazing and thorough dude
@@arootube You can fix a lot of "worthless" tools with a few screwdrivers, an adjustable spanner, sand paper and lubricant. Once you can fix tools you can get for free/cheap you can start to make/fix more advanced tools. And never forget that for many small items, a lathe can be substituted for a cordless drill, a set of small files and a whole lot of patience.

I think very few people will ever fully understand the level of detail, work, and design that went into this. I'm incredibly impressed. You made your own tires, with molds you designed and machined yourself. Beast mode, man, BEAST MODE!
@@ElizabethGreene No kidding. I'm just stuck on the dimensioning and calculations needed to create the molds and replacement hardware. As a person who does it from time to time with professional software and CNC machines, it's mindboggling to do it by hand.
This was the most satisfying video I have come across from you. Absolutely amazing. Let's take a minute to really appreciate that this man literally used the old scooter as a template to basically make a brand new scooter that was even better and stronger than the first.

I have nothing to do with mechanics or tools or even preservation of anthics. But man, this is not restoration. You use your tools, small and big, like a painter would use his brushes. This is art. He just casually made an intricate 3 peice aluminium mould for hand grips for a vintage scooter, and I struggle to not bite my own fingers while eating chips.

This channel is so far beyond typical restoration content, it seems like a difference in kind, rather than degree. There's just nothing close, and I don't say that to dump on other resotration channels. This guy's a freaking Michaelangelo of restoration. It's actually insane.
The level of quality and workmanship here is just unparalleled. I watch alot of restoration videos on YT and nobody comes close to the detail and craftsmanship I always find on this channel.
Blows my mind how much attention to detail and patience you have. It’s one thing to work hard 😓 restoring but it’s another thing to film and edit as you do. I am an editor and cinematographer so I know all to well how much work you do setting up tripod, focus,aperture and just the sheer number of clips you process. Then you have to edit it! Amazing! Total legend, and a mans man with an artistic touch.
Beautiful! This scooter was made in Czechoslovakia and it is from the '70s. It was also a version with a seat available. Almost every boy had one back then. Unfortunately, almost none of them survived to this day. So thank you for your amazing effort and for preserving my and others' memories! Greetings from Prague!

Right!? He could have made the handlebar molds from the same material as the tires (looked like delrin), but he made then out of metal, with chamfered edges, and all for a one time use. Insane amount of attention to detail, My Mechanics is the King Midas of restoration.

The beveling of hard edges, countersinking, casting mark removal, and all the machining of screws, springs, and other parts is absolutely insane. Keep up the amazing work.

this is one of the highest restorations we witnessed . the milling and nickel plating was magnificent , making new tyres and grips was pure genius . i liked your anvil and vise too.. most importantly it will give a child hours of fun and play. thank you for this wonderful presentation.

Subscribed. I love the program here. The recipe for a build like this is as follows: 1. Restore the object to much higher than the original standard of workmanship. 2. Fix any design flaws without scrapping the entire concept of the original. 3. Use the original components wherever it's reasonable to do so. 4. Plate or paint everything so it won't rust again. 5. Make everything removable so maintenance is easy. 6. Make every new component, including hardware and rubber parts, yourself. I dig this program and I am here for it.

Right? Making identical sides to the tires blew my mind, like without using silicone to mold the existing tires. The handle mold itself was next level machining. I salute you. Both were unreal to me
ME: Looking for similar screws for entire day. HE: "I make a new one." What I really appreciate is that he must order material for everything, it's not that hard to make a box of same screws when you have machines for that and experiences, but when you have to make many things for many projects and everything is different, that's real challange, you have to know what exactly you will need and order it. I always forget about something and I have to replace it with something then, it's always pain when you order capacitors or something and you forget about that type you need the most. 😀

Lets not overlook hand broaching flutes with a custom tool into a 3 part mold to cast the handlebar covers. That just blew me away.

Yeah when I saw that he was looking at the old tires and showed they were cracked I said to my self no way he's going to say I'll make new ones! And well whata you know. That it fitted perfectly is beyond me how he made that mould! I was just floored...

This has become one of my new favorite channels. The attention to detail in insane. I love how its a restoration plus everything is made 100x better. The beveling of hard edges, countersinking, casting mark removal, and all the machining of screws, springs, and other parts is absolutely insane. Keep up the amazing work.

Я просто каждый раз поражаюсь работами этого мастера. Его умениям и знаниям. Он каждый раз , находит необходимый способ и инструмент , чтобы довести свою работу до конца и в лучшем виде. Даже шины,рукоятки для руля и матрицу для них сделал сам ! Мастерство и терпение этого увлечённого своим творчеством человека , весьма велико и вызывает уважение ! this is one of the highest restorations we witnessed . the milling and nickel plating was magnificent , making new tyres and grips was pure genius . i liked your anvil and vise too.. most importantly it will give a child hours of fun and play. thank you for this wonderful presentation.

Subscribed. I love the program here. The recipe for a build like this is as follows:
1. Restore the object to much higher than the original standard of workmanship.
2. Fix any design flaws without scrapping the entire concept of the original.
3. Use the original components wherever it's reasonable to do so.
4. Plate or paint everything so it won't rust again.
5. Make everything removable so maintenance is easy.
6. Make every new component, including hardware and rubber parts, yourself.

Right? Making identical sides to the tires blew my mind, like without using silicone to mold the existing tires. The handle mold itself was next level machining. I salute you. Both were unreal to me
When this dude goes to a museum of ancient archeological artifacts, by the time he leaves all the artifacts are fully restored and functional.

What I really appreciate is that he must order material for everything, it's not that hard to make a box of same screws when you have machines for that and experiences, but when you have to make many things for many projects and everything is different, that's real challange, you have to know what exactly you will need and order it. I always forget about something and I have to replace it with something then, it's always pain when you order capacitors or something and you forget about that type you need the most. 😀
