100%. Best performance/efficiency is 16.5-17.5. I’ve gone to FL190 a few times but come back to 17k get 188-190 kts TAS on 82% load. Have seen 196 at 15k around 92% load.
It is amazing how much light inside the cockpit, and the dashboard is impressive how they arranged instruments ,so well done, it looks like you are driving a sport car! very good looking plane Rich, thanks for sharing.
Took a 62 from Shoreham (UK) to Abu Dhabi (UAE). 2 1/2 days, didn’t miss a beat, didn’t feel fatigued due to the comfort. I’ve got about 400 hours in them - if I had the money you’d be getting a phone call! 😊
The one engine with the lower oil pressure, also seems to be running a tick hotter in both coolant temp and oil temps, look at the gauges while in flight, youll see it..
With that sort of fuel economy it can't be beaten. $6000 saving over 100 hours flying time compared to a Baron. Nice video Rich. Still hoping you'll pay a visit to Mark at Skywagon for a podcast one day!
They are beautiful but, for this flyer (I lease the aircraft), it has been horrific. It has spent more time in the shop than in the hangar. I feel like KodiakMD (Amir), as the owner and I have been tortured by continuous problems only met with terrible customer service. Truthfully, most of it relates to Austro and less with Diamond. However, they are essentially one at this point in time and should be ashamed of their performance. The plane is a 2021 model, flown 250h per year (would have been 300+ easily if the plane was available), and has been plagued by engine/paint/decal/ECU failure/camshaft sensor problems from day 1. Both engines were replaced at the end of year 1 with inferior ones. Now one engine needs new pistons (yes all new pistons). In between, there have been 3-5 cam shaft sensor failures grounding the plane multiple times. A glow plug sensor failure occurred in Telluride leaving me stranded. I wouldn't recommend any Diamond using an Austro engine until they figure out QC issues.
For all those worried about the difference in oil pressure, it’s completely normal. Doesn’t matter what you fly, 2 engines does mean they’re going to behave the same. I fly CRJs currently, I’ve never seen two engines have the same fuel burn, vibration, oil pressure, oil temperature, ITT and sometimes even N2. All that matters is they produce the same power. If N1 matches, or in Rich’s case “load”, it’s good.
There’s a saying among us Diamond owners. “They’re the planes you love but the company you hate”. There’s a current AD that requires an invasive borescope inspection every 50 hours. Mine had its third and is now AOG waiting for parts to come from Austria to Canada, and then to FL. No parts depot in the U.S despite tons of planes here. The company sucks. I love my plane but selling it asap. There are a ton of DA62s on the market for this reason.
Looks like a very comfortable platform with beutiful Garmin instruments... Seems to have some unhappy owners/flyers over maintenance support. Is this why the current owner is selling ? Thx Rich
I have followed your videos for more than 18 months, and I feel confident with your recommendation. My tentative plans are to visit a friend in Long Beach and make an appointment with you at your convenience.
I would say comfort once seated similar between all the aircraft. I personally really like the DA62 once seated but SR22 is probably easiest to get into.
I love this airplane. I’m not a real pilot but I live in the sim world and this is my go to ride.
17:06 sick shot with this sleek looking aeroplane, the two cloud layers and the sun...
I fly one regularly - better hope you dont have engine issues. Austro was a pain to deal with. Great machine when it is not in the shop.

No joke, best video out there on these.

Holy shit. I've flown a few different DA62 S/N and it's the first time i hear something that bad. You are unlucky AF mate.
@@CptnFuentes_FR talk w mechanics. Since diamond purchased Austro engine problems have been rampant.
Are those ECU fail CAS messages after landing? Can’t really make out what they say.
Yikes. I wonder if the expereince is better in the DA50 with the Continental engine. Too few of those around as of today.
@@roberts4515 Typically before either after start or during runup. Not after landing.
Extremely smooth plane and seems very easy to fly.

DA 62 is wondeful, and the must quality !
Beautiful aircraft.
Cool, you added a new type rating!

Think I’ve watched every video 100 times Rich great job awesome pilot very informative and fun great views. Your my aviation magazine if you will
Thank you for watching!
Yay!
Id be worried about that oil pressure discrepancy between engines.
Nope, it's normal as long as it's in the green in flight conditions and the oil consumption is below .1 liter/hour
It fluctuates more than id be comfortable with, lycoming or contis dont fluctuate that mych unless worn@@CptnFuentes_FR
Look at both coolant temp and oil temps for the lower oil pressure engine, both a tick higher.. @@CptnFuentes_FR

Not to my knowledge.
Engines have been a nightmare from the start. Surprised after so many years Austro hasn’t figured it out.

Definitely!
Looks like a good old “ECU fail” at the end there?
👍

Hi Rich, question on comfort. Between the SR22 G6, DA42 you flew about a year ago, and the DA62, tell us how the comfort compares?
I would say comfort once seated similar between all the aircraft. I personally really like the DA62 once seated but SR22 is probably easiest to get into.
@@FlyingwithRich thank you always!
I want to see a twin commander or velocity XL.
How is Rich able to fly so many different aircraft types? Is he certified in all?
@@rickkerrypollak6208 I have a few jet type ratings but the piston and turboprops don’t require type ratings.
Thanks Rich, very interesting! --gary
What happened with Mateo do you still use him?
Matteo took another job a while back - have t done any work together since, I think mostly tough schedules!
@ so sorry to hear he left.
Quite a bit of time for 4 years old.... Also good luck ever finding a hangar for that thing
why in the world would I pay the same price as a new one?
Timeline of six to nine months.
Get multifocal glasses..
Nice tip - thanks.
I was thinking the same thing. Some transition lenses would light his workload. They're definitely worth it.
Would love to pic Rich’s brain ! Wanna put a delta hawk in something or 2 in skymaster
