personally i learn the first trick by myself, i remarked that the pen turn naturally when you push it to the middle of the thumb with the third finger and the second finger is just use to maintain the pen motionless in the beginning.

been trying with an unsharpened pencil actually its pretty good. its balanced on both sides so it counterweights itself when you spin it to either side. you guys should try it. only thing is that is is like she said, very light.
I went to a Private High School for a few years, and all the HK students did this, and they tried to teach us all how to do the pen flip! 38 years later, and I still do the pen flippy thing all the time, usually when I'm not thinking about it! :)

i hold the pen with my index and thumb, and have it rest on my middle. then i use my middle to push the pen. it helps with the rotation, i hope it works for you guys too :)
I did it ! I've been practising for a week and i can do the first trick now. Tip - find a sweet spot where the heavy side is little bit more heavy and it should be on the down side. Then try to spin it slowly and see where it's landing. Play around with different holding positions until you can land one perfect spin. After that you just have to practice catching it with the first finger.
I would do this in school I didn't know it was a trick my fingers were just bored and bcuz i didn't know how to do it pen would just keep flying and I would be ths kid that has to get up every 5 seconds to pick it up
Started practicing the thing at about 6:55 a few months back. Now i’m kinda decent at doing that fast, plus adding a few throws into it occasionally. Plus I have a continous variant of it as well, where i just spin the pen around my index finger (again, thows optional). It’s progressing okay i guess, but there’s still much to improve on. Plus since i’ve gotten decent at doing this kinda thing, i’ll have a looot of muscle memory to fight against when trying to learn the ‘proper’ techniques. Like your continous move i could reasonably do, were it not for my fingers automatically passing the pen along with me only realizing this when it spins around my ring finger.

One day i seen one of my friends is doing the first spinning way in this video....i said wow to myself...and i tried to do this in that time...whoa it was just a joke..i could not do it...and after long time..once a again i have a passion to do this...and i searched for video like this and watched and tried hardly...``wtf this is, i dont need this..``...i shouted and left this...and this time i see this video randomly and thought its ok lets just watch and left...but i tried once again...samething happened 😑...i was going to pause the video and left...but i do it again one more time for last time...but after that i shouted wow for myself...i do that spinning for one time randomly...and now i know the concept and keep practicing...the lesson i learned from this is never give up, better things take time❤️
Yes, i've been spinning for a couple of months now and whenever I pick up anything pencil shaped I have to start spinning it. Its very fun Guys keep in mind that if this is too hard there are special pen spinning pens for this with a certain weight and lenght
Probably a weird suggestion, but what worked for me is not looking at your hand while practicing each trick. It teaches your brain to rely on your hand rather than your eyes. When get more comfortable & confident, then you can watch what you're doing. Also try using the hand you don't write with.

Sometimes when pens have some weight to them (ex. My stylus pen) it's easier to spin them and find the right speed and whatever. And just practice you'll get it at some point it took me a week to learn the easy one lol
2 years ago, I got trouble at school because I'm doing pen spinning in exam, and she's right I'm doing it to think. However, my teacher think I'm giving signals to my friend for answer.
I feel like you didn't really explain it that well, so I'll try my best to explain how to do TA (short for thumbaround), even though it's really hard to do it in text form. Before you start, it's best to warm up your hands. Do like 10 circles in both directions with your wrists, move your fingers around, you know, that type of stuff. 1. get a stick-shaped object (ideally a thin double-sided marker, or a pen mod if you have one). It's easier to do it with something heavier at first, like a stick, but don't get used to it too much. 2. find its center of mass (the point where you can lay it on your finger and it won't rotate that much). Just try to balance it on one finger, and try to remember what part of the pen was laid on your finger. 3. with your palm facing about 45 degrees to the left, grab your pen sideways with your thumb, index and middle finger. The pen should be level with the ground, but very slightly tilted counter-clockwise. Your middle finger should be close to the center of mass, and your index slightly spread apart. Your thumb should be slightly pinching your pen between it and your index finger. 4. make sure your fingers aren't stiff, you're not pinching your pen too hard, and your thumb is straight and mostly level with the ground, slightly tilted up. Now the idea is to try to make your middle finger touch the middle of your thumb, and after it goes around your thumb, you catch it with the same 3 fingers you used before. Also, if you're like me and get angry at yourself for not being able to do such a seemingly impossible trick after failing over and over for 15 minutes straight, try to force yourself to take breaks and come back to it later. I know it can be really frustrating, but it's just one of those things that get much harder the more angry you are. It's all about feeling out the right amount of force to use on the pen, and of course holding it properly. They will come naturally as you try to do it again and again. I hope my tutorial was of some use to you. It took my ADHD ass 2 hours to write it lol Have fun spinning, and don't expect to land it on the first try. Not even the second. Not the tenth. Not even the hundredth. It took me god knows how many tries to do it consistently. That said, you'll do it eventually, I believe in you.
A simple hack to learn it on both hands; If you have basically mastered for example the thumb around, on one hand, get two pens that are in the same in weight and size and position them the same as you normally would to do the pen trick, and then try to do the spin and the grab at the same time in both hands. It worked for me.
