Ive been using cachyos for a long time now. Its my main linux os hands down. Community around it is beyond awesome. If you have a problem, the nerds are flocking to fix it.
This distro is so underrated! I love all the tweaks and configurations under the hood, the use of custom kernels and schedulers. Also the thing that hooked me with this distro is the easy ZFS installation. I hope the devs will keep supporting zfs
Cachy Browser is actually a fork of Librewolf. The fullscreen menu and weather widget is in the kdeplasma-addons package because they ship the minimal Plasma install. Screen edges at the top is just for moving the mouse cursor to an area like in Gnome. Hopefully KDE makes these things more clear in the future.
CachyOS has turned a ten year old HP touchscreen notebook into a speedy device. Hyprland DE. Zen browser. Nemo. Kitty. It's a pleasant experience. I do run Fedora on two other machines, but this Cachy laptop is really outstanding. Thanks for the video Mr. Jack.
I add Brave---but not for normal use-- just for watching HISTORY channel.. without having to sign in.. :) ( i was CURSE OF OAK ISLAND there and since I don't have cable- would have to sign in on the others and can't).
Octopi has a few things the rest don't have for some reason... even though they are same source-- or suppose to be. I get Plank and some others there-- especially my Epson driver package etc.. that is NOT in the PRINT settings setups..
The floating panel is broken, it often causes small or big flickering of windows that you drag close to it. I just glued it stuck on the bottom and it looked beautiful with light theme.
how can you tell if a distro is good when you test it in a virtualbox on a 30 minutes video CachyOS is one of the top five distro in my list ... I am a gamer and pure arch distro run way better than those clone distro but I like your video you are very funny to watch
Agree, usually if you try on virtual server you can just see whats the ui is like and whats installed default and cannot say anything how it really works on metal
I agree. I like your character and good mood very much. But I was expecting more on Cachy OS itself. What does it make different from let's say Endeavouros? What about Nvidia not being DKMS but integrated module in the kernel? What about updates? Cachy vs Arch repositories? I still have these questions answered I am afraid.
He said in the beginning that he use to use it, and had zero issues. That's how he knows. This wasn't meant to be a super technical deep dive... Do your own research and stop expecting 1 video to answer everything.
Will it, like Windows or Arch, suddenly break after updates? I don't want to troubleshoot all day. The millennials and GenZ in my corporate forest are Jurassic at computers. #boomersknowstuff

@@jackkeifer Whenever a watch your videos I feel in your debt
THANK YOU for going through this so completely -- slowly and casually-- makes it so easy to learn what I might have missed before.
Happy to do it David! 😊
As Archlinux user, I confirm: Catchy OS is the fastest and most optimized distro.

THIS is a great one... LOVE CACHY!!! CACHY has the NEW KDE6 already too!!! (which means I have to learn all the new crap.. ha. )
Great distro. I just installed the XFCE version of this. Nice!

Fantastic! I used Cachy with XFCE for several months without a hiccup. A great experience. 👍

CachyOS nice distro but the default theming is so dark :D
KDE keeps being great day by day.
Feel like doing a video about the Apps on your daily work?

what is the big deal with floating panel? Does it have a practical reason for being that way? (not meaning to be critical- just want to learn)..
My assumption is that it’s simply aesthetically pleasing, but maybe someone will chime in with a more practical reason.
@@jackkeifer Just curious-- I never even paid any attention to it til someone mentioned it.. :)
Just aesthetics

I thought the emerald theme would be installed and enabled by default.. it's not even installed..
Are you pronouncing it "kessy"?

Are you talking about pureOS ?
