Gastric bypass in 2004 - no revisions, no complications, no major regaining of weight. Started at 420, I weigh 270 right now, my lowest weight achieved was 245... I'm 6'2 and 44 years old. The lap band and sleeve are only asking for problems later. I eat junk yes, but I learned how to keep my body in check and still consider it a success.

I wish i could help you so bad. Find a sport you like, tennis is a good one. Take it slow at first and move on with your life and eat low sugar, high fat foods, you'll feel great and lose weight at the same time. Bless ya

I think too many people are not mentally ready! They continue their old habits afterwards and it fails post surgery or any diet for that matter. Too many use this as bandaid then continue to eat junk! I seen this first hand with friends!

Your right, I’ve completely changed my lifestyle so I don’t eat junk food anymore besides 1 day a month, in fact I rarely ever crave junk food at all besides candy occasionally because I love me some skittles lol, it’s all mental at first but now at this point I don’t even think about the fact that I eat healthy

If you are reading this and thinking about gastric sleeve this is your sign, DO NOT DO IT! It has so many side effects and it does not get the best results. If you are going to do it go all the way and get the gastric bypass. I had the sleeve and I have suffered for six years with a hernia in my stomach. Tomorrow I get the gastric bypass to treat the symptoms. I did not lose any weight with the sleeve. ZERO!

I agree 100%. Sleeved last year. Lost 32lbs in 4 months, yeah. Well, the issues started. I have horrible GERD, wake up vomiting acid, back of my throat constantly burns, and developed a hernia. My weight stalled to 1lb a month of that. Now getting Nessien surgery and considering bypass in the future.

Both of my cousins had the sleeve & each lost over 100lbs. They worked hard to achieve it. Maybe bypass is a better fit for your metabolic situation.
My cousin & family recommended the sleeve but my surgeon said that the sleeve was too weak so I did the R&Y Gastrectomy on 11/1/22 & lost 28lbs so far in 27 days. It has been very hard. I started walking 2 hours after surgery & was on a liquids only for 15 days. I’m eating solids but have gas, cramps & can only eat 3oz at a time a child size portion. The bypass I think is harder but better results for someone with metabolic damage.

People please, exercise 3 days a week and dont eat sugar. This is the weak and problematic way out

Hashslingingslasher you don’t even need to work out, honestly just self restraint and keeping to certain eating schedules will help you to lose weight. But people don’t have self control in today’s time anymore and expect the doctors to do everything for them which suits the doctors well because they get their pockets lined

Definitely not the cowards way. This is me featured. And there is nothing cowardly about facing one surgery let alone two. Obesity is a disease and it’s not simply eating too much and moving too little. Read up on the topic.

I agree 100%. I'm not poor but I'm definitely not rich, but we are "comfortable". Trying to keep up with all the ORGANIC and healthier choices is so expensive. Of a family of 4 is on a budget and have 20 bucks to get groceries for a week, their going to do for the ready made meals like pasta, got dogs, nachos etc etc etc. 80% lean ground beef was 6 bucks for a pound. All the protein bars and shakes are ridiculously low.

Several reasons: hormones, enzyme deficiencies, and other genetic dispositions. I wish it were that simple. Only ends truly understand. We're all different.
