Yes, especially the theme of 2nd world! About 20 years have passed since the last time I listened it, but for some reason it stuck in my mind for all these years, as if I'd listened it every days. How much memories...

I am 13 years old. My teacher saw me play Tetris on my Gameboy, and she gave me this game. Best teacher ever. Edit: I am 17 now, and my gameboy is broken Edit 2: 19 now, got myself a Gameboy Color, and it's working just fine!
No Budget Animations I wanted a Motorola Razr V3 charger and my art teacher (who I used to have a crush on) gave me his and I had to lie to my dad about it. My mom however doesn't know that.
Where did you guys get your gameboys, from your older siblings? Im surprised kids nowadays have seen gameboys cuz its all about Switches and DS and other shit now
naightz1 I also own a switch, but it's way more boring than my gameboy. I live in Romania, and me and my best friend got our gameboys for about the equivalent 50 bucks (each one with a few games) from Romanian online stores. But you can also find one easily on ebay, we just didn't get one from there because of the shipping and import charges.
Hands down, I remember THIS GAME as one of the most difficult games I've ever played..!!! I played it forever and got totally stuck all the time and never completed anything past 3-2 ....
Damn I feel like a gangster now reading this, me and my brother managed to beat this one together. To be fair, I probably traded it off to him during the hardest parts
Still have my copy from back in the day. This game is a masterpiece, it along with Tetris made the original GameBoy a success. Without it the GameBoy wouldn't of been around long enough for Pokémon to come out years later and explode the market for handhelds. Respect.
I remember finding my uncle's old box filled with gameboy games. Pokémon Red, Super Mario Land, Street Fighter II and some others. "Nostalgia" can't even explain what I'm feeling right now
+Squiggy Seven: First Impressions [NES Reviews] I believe the Mario Land games were under the design decisions of a developer who didn't incorporate all the classic Mario tropes and put a few of his own in although this mostly resulted in inserting very random mythical creatures as monsters (Jiangshi and the Easter Island heads). As a side note it's sequel contains the breakout character Wario which despite being in Mario's castle and kingdom (which doesn't even remotely seem canon) has gone on to be a real breakout character and is a standard part of the lineup, almost purely by chance. Oh and Daisy was there too. But I think her personality has been retconned. If that's even possible.
i have a few statements. 1. the 1st Game Boy wasn't as powerful as an NES, so Nintendo has to cut this game short in order for it to be playable. 2. Nintendo wasn't sure what they're doing when they're making this game. 3. Super Mario Land was made by the R&D1 of Nintendo instead of the EAD division. 4. time constraints left Nintendo no choice but to cut the game short. 5. some staff from Nintendo may have intervened and changed the length of the game.
This was such a weird game back then. Fun, but weird. The references to the incans. The bizarre bad guys. The trip to...China? I don't know. Still, ahh childhood!
Just sat and watched this with my 5 year old.. I haven’t seen or played this game in a good 30 years. Brought me right back to being 5 years old with my black and white game boy! Thanks for posting

My dad used to be up all night playing regular Mario on Nintendo and my little sister and I played the one on gameboy color during long car trips. Reminds me how quickly time has flown by. 😍
I remember being in Costco in 1996 with my mom and my sister and she got us a Gameboy pocket that came with this game. I love watching videos like this. It takes me back and reminds me of when times were much more simple.

Besides, 15 bucks a month to give me something to do while I'm stuck at home with a debilitating heart condition isn't really a waste.

This game right here goes to show you that you don't need superior high bit graphics in order to enjoy a game and for the game to be good. This game is probably 8 bits at most? Anyways I remember borrowing my classmate's gameboy back in the days when I was in 4th and 5th grade during the early 90's because my mother at the time wouldn't buy me a gameboy which I wanted so bad! Anyways I was so excited about the release of gameboy and being able to play it and I was very excited about the game Super Mario Land. This was my favorite game for gameboy. The crazy thing is it's been almost 30 years and this game still holds up as a great and fun game to play! Super Mario Land and the other Mario NES games are timeless game classics!!!

It's really hard to believe that there was once a time, when no one cared about resolutions, or online multiplayer or DLCs. When we just played our games, and enjoyed every moment of it. Im still fond of those times.
Personally, I really like this game. Released around the Game Boy's very first launch, Super Mario Land assisted the Game Boy sales. It is irritating though that this game does not have a save progress feature.
renard blanc Jeje Thanks for you comentary but Sonic ( I ) & Mario Brothers, they are still friends but in the year's 90's only pretended be rivals x'D Grettings My Friend
"Not even in color" "Back then colors weren't invented yet" I KNOW THAT! WHAT'S YOU'RE PROBLEM PEOPLE?! THIS GAME CAME OUT IN 1989! COLOR EXISTED IN 1989!
Mike K what are you talking about? it was not designed in color. the gameboy color just adapted the original 4-tone greyscale of the original gameboy to a 4 color scheme. like white being yellow, light gray being orange, dark grey being red and black being black for example.
LEDS? ahah the original screen was way worse than that. It consisted of old style LCD, liquid Crystal display. Not your modern sharp LCD for tv, no, the old style, that lags, everything was blurry on movements. There was only 4 shades of grey, and one shade of whi… yellow. The background of the screen was piss-yellow colour. This was so crude, Nintendo just used the cheapest LCD screen they found. Later a few games were programmed with embeded colours, that only displays using the Super Game Boy . This was an adaptator to play those games on Super Nintendo. But not many people had that. During the 90's most people played Game Boy in black and white or i would say blurry grey and yellow.
When I was on the plane into holydays, I played GameBoy all the flight long, even after landing. And if there where other children with GameBoys, we exchanged our games and they tested my games and I tested theres. New friendships came along.... forgotten friends.
I still have this game and original Gameboy. I play it on my Gameboy color though as my original GambeBoy doesn't work anymore. Was my favorite game!!!
It took me so many tries to beat this game when I was a kid back in 2001. I remember the indestructible kung fu enemies that I was able to defeat by tricking them into jumping into bottomless pits, that was cool.
Proper nostalgia... second game I ever played after Tetris! Found this far too easy, always ended up finishing it without dying with almost 30 lives left. But great game though
That music brings back so much nostalgia

Brings back memories.
Personally, I really like this game. Released around the Game Boy's very first launch, Super Mario Land assisted the Game Boy sales. It is irritating though that this game does not have a save progress feature.
RAQUAAHWA TheCodedtestament It's not really that long. I've beaten it with no saves like 4 times
Blah blah blah
I played this Game for the first time in 1993 I think, still Love it. Great playthrough (Longplay).

"Not even in color"
"Back then colors weren't invented yet"
I KNOW THAT!
Memory limitations of the orginal gameboy
LEDS? ahah the original screen was way worse than that.
The only thing wrong about it was that it was too short.
The collision mechanics for those fireballs are just hysterical.
Daisy's first Apperance
donkey kong bro.
That's Pauline,not Daisy.
Neva Zaki No it's Daisy!!
In donkey kong was pauline, in mario land is daisy.
Neva Zaki Sorry. wrong game.
It took me so many tries to beat this game when I was a kid back in 2001. I remember the indestructible kung fu enemies that I was able to defeat by tricking them into jumping into bottomless pits, that was cool.
I admit.. i freaking cried when i finished this game when i was a kid...
First time I’ve seen or even thought of this game in over 20 years but it all comes flooding back as if I was 6 again. Bizarre feeling really.
The underground theme actually used to scare me when I was little.
My first and favorite childhood game ... Lovely memories !!!
Proper nostalgia... second game I ever played after Tetris! Found this far too easy, always ended up finishing it without dying with almost 30 lives left. But great game though
Back in my day we had black and white 2-D video games and we liked it!
wrathofpaulii back then we preferred gameplay over graphics
He keeps missing the secret bricks/places... :D
I guess he just wants to play safe for youtube purposes. :3
Good Plat though
JC T That he kept missing all the secret spots like the elevators in the Egyptian level triggered me a lot :D
He said he couldn’t remember secrets
thanks for the video, this is my real childhood. Bring back many memories.
The power star theme is the song Yes I Can Can, I can play it in my violin, well part of it
Don't you mean the Can Can? It's a very famous dance.

Got this game 2 years ago. Still fun to play every once in a while.
