Mines, outside of the few times they do play their instruments not showing them playing the instruments themselves, is the exact same. But the director I believe has said K-ON didn't require any extensions or story expansion and that the ending was the best possible time to end the series. It makes for great rewatch material too ^^ the lack of extra content does make me somewhat sad though
From what I know, the manga continues the story with them going to college, and continuing to play, I think there was more story to tell, but they just left it this way

use distortion but lower the gain so you can almost pick out each note in each chord, add a compressor and mess with your eq a bit (most likely high treble, low mid, medium bass)

my only regret / disappointment with K-On is that it only lasted for 2 seasons ... really wished it had more seasons.
