I always thought that it was common knowledge that green day is absolute garbage I dunno why people are making a big deal out of a one second clip💀
Tbf, Dookie was good. Downhill afterwards, though. It's been like 30 years.
I've heard about this but haven't looked into it. I've chosen Dan to explain this situation to me, and im confident he will do a stellar job.
So shocking that the punk band is anti-fascism isn’t it? 😮
You're not anti-fascism if you overlook fascism coming from your own side. This is the most critical point people refuse to consider.
@@artis1969 Green Day aren’t on a side and I’m English.
@@EJLJ19 Theyre on the side of not Trump. Thats a side. Being english means you might have a more objective pov, and be able to see this. Or, you dont necessarily understand the either/or dynamic thats been forced on the American citizenry. How exactly does one do the math and come up with "voting for Cornel West is a vote for Trump"? Thats how far people will go to assert their side.
...and a fourth channel that only discusses green day topics of the day!
🥞 Happy New Year fae Scotland, lad! 🥞
🥞 And lang may yer lumb reek. 🥞
Great commentary!
As for the 🤬’s saying it’s just a publicity stunt to sell records… have u actually SEEN them live…EVER? Uhm duh - he said the same ( and more !) at nearly ever live show he did while that X was in office. So yeah he’s been ‘waving that sword’ for years - far back into the Bush era btw. These R&R Hall of Famerz don’t need ‘stunts’ to sell records. They’re just true to themselves & their multitude of fans across the world & of course stupid main stream media is full of real 💩Dookie as it ever was. IF it sells them some records - great! But they don’t care & neither do their fans. They’re single Dilemma is already #1 on the charts ( 😂and the albums isn’t even out yet )
I love Green Day but Dilemma has only reached 25 on New Zealand charts
I liked em, but I just kind of realized at some point that they arent very good, BJ's vocals grate my ears in a strange way. The awkward shift from pop punk skater crew singing about girlfriends and weed, to a bunch of Avril Lavigne cosplayers writing depressing ballads and hard left radio rock was super goofy too. Between Dookie, Insomniac and Nimrod, there are probably about five or six songs I would ever care to hear again. I think that's mostly for nostalgia's sake, too.
Aboot, I'm guessing you're Canadian. 😏
I get Punk Rock bands are meant to be provocative, but in today's political climate, it's really NOT a good idea when it's a problem when we're trying to stop it.
I saw the new years concert and um......there was nothing punk about that.
If you want the worst take on anything in the world ever, you ask Billie Joe Armstrong. Or Roger Waters. Beyond that, to be 'punk' these days would be singing about how much you love America, how you are going to vote Republican and how much you love God.
no billy. lol
Well if caring about people is woke then that's what I am, and a proud Green Day fan as always. I don't know why this is news if anyone has ever actually listened to the band and knows anything about them. It's like people flipping out over RATM 😂
This isn't even the first time they've done it they first did it in 2019 so I don't know why everybody's making such a fuss about it now
Total sidenote. I also decided the New Blink sucks. Too much Barker. in the mix. Can't hear guitar.
Being 36 and growing up listening to Green Day, after American Idiot I had my fill of the political stuff and it just keeps circulating so by now it’s nothing new and really not that newsworthy. Like, yes we understand your stance Green Day, you don’t have to keep doing it for the sake of stating your stance. You done did it 20 years ago.
Great video, Dan! You're a good man.
Like nothing says the rules and qualifications like the US constitution! 😅
I think the main thing is how media didn't recognize that it literally didn't change the meaning of the song. It just made it more modern.
7:41 good tip of advice !!!!
I clicked because you look like old idubbbz
FOX news 🙄🙄🙄
Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell, Joy Reid, etc. 😂🤣😂
Why are people surprised Green Day did something political 😆
The last album I cared about was warning ⚠️ ...then I grew up and got my own opinions.
Haven’t liked green day since pop disaster tour when they acted like they were better than blink.
I'm sorry but isn't it more punk rock to support trump than to be woke? You know since everyone hates trump? honestly I wish theyd just leave thier shitty policics out of their music. No one ones to go to a show and think about politics in this day an age..now back when bush was president that shit was dope lol
If you think its "PUNK" to support a fascist, please leave the room now.
What the actual fuck are you on about.
Not surprised but it's to the point there probably getting paid to say that. Also why would they not speak against Biden or all the other atrocities?? This is not punk whatsoever now
No, "emo 182" no it would not be.
Fuck off
?????? stupid
Green Day is fuckin dope
Republicans are just 10 years behind democrats on every issue so I don’t see a difference between them.
They’ve groomed you well.
They all agree on war.
@@Mr_Ashley who? I noticed this last year.
frandampt0n is funny as fuck.
OMG! A punk band has written a song about politics? I've never heard of such a thing!
FFS
Green Day, bunch of posers.
Green Gay
Green day is fucking lame. They haven't been cool since nimrod.
merry pancakes 🥞 🥞🥞 🥞🥞 🥞🥞 🥞🥞 🥞
I remember when they played that song they wrote about themselves in another country, "American Idiot."
Rock n Roll has always been damn the man not join the man. WTG Green Day!!!
I thought the ppl that are so upsetare the free speech warriors? Oh but not when the speech is something they dont like. Ok got it 👍 ❄️
Just because you're a proponent of free speech doesn't mean you can't disagree with someone. Use that brain, buckaroo, it's free to do and shouldn't be too difficult. 👌
Not really punk rock ethos at all. They appeal to the mainstream culture.
you obviously don’t understand what the punk ethos is if you think punk was ever in support of conservatives
@leighluvsrats you obviously don't understand the realities of our prevailing culture right now. Punk rock was anti-establishment, anti-authoritarian and opposed to corporate selling out. Everything that's evident in our culture today and what Green Day has become. Both left and right politics is capable of this too...is that too hard to understand?
Did anyone hear the awful cover of fairytale of New York that Ed Sharon did? The replaced the f-word with MAGA. It was just about bad enough to make me want to vote for trump 😂
Green Day you rock👍🏻👍🏻✌🏻 F trump
Took me a few mins of a google search, to see the outrage, your talking about people not doing research, while you didnt even do your own 😂😂😂😂
Im judging you by your appearance and not watching this video as a result.
Have a nice day, my friend
😮😮😮 it sure does take that edge away wow
They're not wrong, but, it really is just preaching to the choir 🤷♀️
Centrist pop punk band makes trite political statement
