@@mandeepP Why do so many people treat art like some kind of cheap sporting event? It's degrading to art. So and so is better than so and so. Who cares? Either the art touches you and you enjoy it or not. I've seen art by people who are supposedly not that good that I love. I've seen art by supposedly "one of the best in the world" that I did not like at all. Stop acting like it's some kind of football game. It not a competition.
Okay, this is one of my favorites. The way you use color reminds me of the Stagecoach portraits Norman Rockwell did of Alex Cord, Van Heflin & the rest of the cast. I don wish we'd been able to see the pallet. When we're watching the paint laid on the paper, it becomes the mix of what you've already put done and the new color. I'd like to see that color before it goes down. What I love about this painting are the many layers that go in to the detailed topography of the piece. In any case, thank you so much for such an expressive piece of work.
@@jamesmcinnis208 Since there is a living person in the portrait, it is said to be a "living portrait". You can also say: "the portrait came to life". This is called a metaphor.
@@Gawron.. I know what a metaphor is. You're saying two things: one, that it's a painting of a living person (presumably to distinguish it from a painting of a dead person) and two, that the portrait came (figuratively) to life. Which is it? The original poster distinguishes a pencil sketch from a "living portrait." So a pencil sketch can't be of a live person nor can it (figuratively) come to life?
A bit late, don't know how I've missed this before but THIS is fantastic! How you turned a sad old man into an inspirational work of art I don't know even though I watched you do it!! Thank you.
You would have to have training to do this level of portrait, easy if you've had that training, but for us mear mortals not so easy, very good artist, very talented. 👍👍👍
Amazing face that. I am a complete thumb-fingers when it comes to sketching and painting - for me it has been such a treat to watch the picture built up from just a sketch ~ I think now I begin to understand a tiny bit about shading Much appreciated post. Thank you so much 💐👍💗🌟🌼🙋🏻♀️
Granted I have not seen many watercolor portraits rendered. BUT, can't imagine many being better done than this one. Watching the buildup of color layer by layer (which I just can't do) is fascinating for me. Really looks like oil or acrylic process to me. (guess the basics are the same?)
Super inspirador, oye, que utilizaste para poner las luces de la barba y el brillo de los ojos? Es pintura acrílica blanca o blanco de acuarela? U otro material?
What paper are you using that allows you to add so many layers it must be fairly heavy paper. The work is beyond anything I have seen and I have wsted a lot of artists. You are a miracle.
Wow, did you use one brush for the whole thing?😱 I paint in oil and acrylic; I can’t even imagine, lol! Well done 👍 oh, saw the the “zero” brush at the end.
Thank you so much, don't forget to visit my website: artpaintingblog.com/
Great job !
Pity, not be able to watch how those paint colors mixed.
Painting is not difficult. The difficult thing is to do it well
Yes, doing it well is the difficulty. To do portraits, you have to be skilled in drawing if you want a likeness of your subject.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The portrait truly shows the old man's character, compassionate and yet bears a shadow of melancholy. A great art.
This is the best water colour portrait I've ever seen. What a talent this artist has.
Jhunsung does better
@@ArtistSwagat misulbu does better than him..

I did know that such grade of realism could be achieved with watercolor. What an excellent artist!
Fabulous ... before you aged the gentleman, and took the light and sparkle out of his eyes. He reminded me of Robin Williams
Beautiful work
It is Robin hiding in Asian village with his new woman and ten goats ! 😜 Nanoo nanoo shazbut !
I reminds me of Robin Williams too!
Ive just watched the best watercolour portrait ever on TH-cam, it was like watching my own grandad appear. Many thanks for showing this.
I agree ... it's not difficult to paint ... but to paint to this standard is remarkable. A skilful and beautiful piece of work.
Not difficult at all. Why, just this morning, I painted my entire kitchen ceiling.

The transformation from a pencil sketch to a living portrait is remarkable. Very beautiful.
I'm not familiar with the term "living portrait." What does it mean?
@@jamesmcinnis208 Alive means that in the portrait the person looks alive (has a body structure, etc.)

Whoever is it, his face expressions seems to tell us his feelings of hard life, honesty, and truthfulness
This is hands down one of the most fascinating things I have ever watched. I’m amazed.
Thanks so much 😜😜😜😜
I didn't know you could paint like that with water colors. Amazing artist. Looks like a photo pic.👍
