I would pay money to relive the very first time I heard Sleep Token
I heard them for the first time supporting Architects last week. Amazing live and I've sort of been hooked on them ever since. I can't say I love every song, but I find them a really fascinating band and their musicianship is next level.

Sleep Token has to be one of the greatest musical discoveries I made last year. The whole Sundowning album is a masterpiece from front to back. Worship!

man I love Sleep Token. I know the most immediate thing people notice is the vocals and his incredible range but I am just enamored with the drumming on this record. The dude is an absolute beast.

What exactly does a producer do? I thought the musicians are the ones that compose the songs? I know that a Mixer has to compress the audio to fit onto tapes and stuff
@@Jalanko13 okay so a producer is basically just there to help write them and show different things they could do to make the song better. Basically a co-writer and a new set of eyes/ears. Sometimes the producer will also engineer the session and all that.
Mixing it is basically just making everything cohesive and have each track work with one another at its simplest level.
@@Jalanko13 basically a producer brings the artists in and helps get a good sound from various instruments, what processing to use and when, and make everything fit together and not sound like a jumbled mess (even though some bands want that)
Vessel (the singers character name) is such an amazing singer. please do yourself the favor of going down the rabbit hole and listening to all their songs. i promise you'll never lose the chicken skin while listening

“Jaws” or “Higher” by the band Sleep Token 😊
They have a very short discography since they were formed 2016. 2 very short EPs, and their debut album Sundowning that this song “The Offering” comes from. Always thought they had a fusion of Bastile meets Deftones. Crazy talented band🖤

George Lever, the engineer for this album, also engineered one of the most refreshing up and coming metal albums from last year by a band called Loathe. I recommend the song the song Aggressive Evolution for a good overall representation of their sound, Is It Really You? for more ambience, and Gored for a heavier sound. They also just released an ambient album a couple of weeks ago, which is super cool.

ILIIAITE was my favourite album last year. Loathe was new to me in late 2019, such a great band.
I heard Loathe live when they opened for Rolo Tomassi. Sick and beautiful show. They are awesome. I love Aggressive Evolution. Maybe "Dancing on my skin" or "White Hot" would be as much as appropriate
@@riccardocravero3614 I agree with both of those. Not enough people have listened to their back catalogue after finding them. I am so jealous of that lineup, Rolo Tomassi is another amazing and underrated band, especially over here in the states

Sleep Token is such a banger of a band. Their range has always given me chills. Even now when the song started, I'm getting chills.
I'd definitely say listen to Sleep Token - The Way That You Were. That's my all time favorite song by them, and it's so damn hauntingly beautiful.
Calcutta is an incredible song by them and it's a journey. I'd highly recommend checking that one out!
Their stage presence and their performance live is absolutely breath taking too. It'd be cool to see you react to a live version of The Offering too!
The live version of ‘The Offering’ is essential as well because Vessel (the singer) does this amazing vocalization during the outro that it I personally think is really missed when listening to the studio version.
Calcutta was the song that turned me on to this band a couple of years ago, fully recommended

Sleep Token is probably one of the best discoveries I've had in the last couple years. I came across them via recommended on my Google Play Music (RIP) at the end of 2019. I was at the end of my shift at work, just winding the day down, and I played the first couple tracks from the album, including this one. I immediately added the album to my library and jammed it on the drive home. I probably listened to the whole album something like 30 times over the next couple weeks, between driving, at home, or when I could at work.
Definitely Recommend Higher, Take Aim, or Bloodsport, Jaws, or Thread the Needle as something else to react to from Sleep Token.

Honestly one of the best bands I've seen live. This band is phenomenal. I'm glad you enjoyed I honestly love all their stuff check out literally anything, both EPs and the full lengths are all great!
I saw them live in Knoxville TN during 2022, and it was a core memory for me. So, so, SO beautiful. I cried during "the love you want," I'll never ever forget that night. I hope they come to Knoxville for a headlining tour!!

Storm Corrosion by Storm Corrosion! A side project featuring Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth and Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree. Very cool song, eerie.

Best new band of 2019 (I know they have EPs and singles back to 2016, but the Sundowning album cycle is when they really started marketing and getting their much deserved attention), feel if COVID hadn't happened they'd end up on tour opening for someone and hit it big last year. Sleep Token is something REALLY special. Check out the stripped back version of Blood Sport or their cover of Hey Ya to get a true sense of their depth.
God I'm so glad this one was done way back before they blew up. Coming back to see you describe the unconscious hook, my brain exploded a bit, because it was something I picked up on through most of their music. It's incredible.

Two biggest things about this band!
1. All the members are anonymous and the lead singer goes by Vessel.
2. Basically every song of theirs sounds completely different. This is one of their most heavy songs next to Gods, but yeah they span so many genres. Dark Signs, Blood Sport, and Give are top notch!

Sleep Token are such an awesome band. As everyone has said there is no bad song and they are quite diverse. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on their cover of "I wanna dance with somebody" by Whitney Houston as you might already know the original arrangement so would be fun to hear you decompose the contrasting styles.

Thank you for finally tackling them, my first quest is complete! The Offering was a good pick, I would say it’s my second favourite by them. Next you’ll have to do “Say That You Will”, which is their magnum opus in my opinion.

You should check out all their songs but Calcutta, Higher, Gods, Drag Me Under and Bloodsport are probably highlight how diverse their style is and how passionate they are, especially Vessel, the singer

Excellent comments and video! Such an amazing band. Best show I saw in 2019. They are completely anonymous. There’s no talking between songs when they play live. Best singer and drummer going right now, in my opinion. Those two write and perform everything on their albums, and they get other musicians to perform bass and guitar parts live, while the keyboards and vocal harmonies are backing tracks. ‘Jaws’ is the one that grabbed me initially, but seriously, every song is fantastic. There’s a video of their singer performing their song ‘Blood Sport’ on piano, and that is fantastic as well. Looking forward to more reactions of these guys!
Saw Sleep Token live in Phx in 2019 at The Pressroom. They opened with "The Offering". Such an Amazing Set.
