I like how you mention that the slalom is somewhat subjective as a comparison, and then you make it even less reliable by swapping drivers and stop-watch operators.

Proper title for this video. Lambo gets head start every time . Rivian wins 3 out of 4 races rigged against it.
Updated- Rivian gives a big head start and still wins with all season tires.
or- even with racing tires and a head start the Urus can't win.
Every start with Rivian was almost 0.3 seconds slower then Urus. Maybe it's time to hire Chris Harris or someone else who can properly start.
They should have switched drivers. It's clear Mr. Lieberman has reactions and the other guy doesn't.
I have a good feeling that the Rivian driver is not launching with the brake. The car always "Holds" at a stop, so if you just smash the pedal there's a quarter second where it releases the brakes and then goes. You can feel the car strain against the brakes when you brake boost.@@TheBowerbird

Waste of time. Atleast have both of them drive both cars on the same track to get average and eliminate driver variable. This is just basic thing you would expect from people doing comparison on such scale.
I wish you would have had both drivers run both rigs and compare averages to eliminate the driver variable.

I remember years ago, when every Motortrend video was on TH-cam and Johnny drove an H2 Hummer that I noticed that at some point during every video he will make a gesture with both hands off the steering wheel while driving. I watched for it every video and for a few years I was never disappointed. I'm glad to have seen it still in this video.
I have noticed muscle cars like chargers and corvette’s etc. not wanting to race and take a hit to their egos when I am beside them in the R1-T 😂 Some say EVs are lame but I don’t care how it’s done by gas or battery powered 0-60 in 3 seconds gets respect ✊
Lol while doing the half mile the urus magically also took the lead in the first quarter mile . It would have been believable if the Urus overtook after the quarter mile to win the half . Lol seems like the sponsors did not want to lose.

The Urus got a jump on the Rivian on the 1/2 mile run. Rivian driver was late off the line.
@@wesleywalls7582 strange right , because apparently before that happens they repeatedly ran the quarter mile and every single time the R1 beat the Urus . Yet , only during the half mile race the urus takes the lead right off the start line . Very convenient yeah.

Ah the scientific method: keep repeating the same test until you get the biased results you were looking for.
That was so surprising. Usually EV’s get off the line before the ICE car and then then the gas pulls.
I think in this case it was driver error.

Clearly a driver issue. TB doesn’t know how to launch the Rivian. I have an R1S and I promise it launches so hard that there’s no way this is a realistic comparison.

I really would love to know the reason the Rivian is limited at that speed. It has the same limit on 34" ATs as it does on 33" Summer tires. Unless the motors can't do more I'm not sure why they can't push beyond 112. They certainly pull until then.
Saving the driver from wrecking themself
It's a much heavier vehicle and unfortunately with all that power EVs are mostly better on 0-60 ICE are the kings of higher speeds with even much less power
I think it's to avoid wear and tear on the motors. There's no transmission, so for the wheels to go faster the motors just have to keep going way up in rpms.
It's the motors. Someone did the napkin math and with the non-AT tires, the motors are at the maximum Bosch specified RPM around 114 or 116mph, so I'm guessing Rivian put some margin in there and just set it by speed rather than RPM.
When compared to the same race on Throttle House, this video feels so biased and rigged. It is disappointing from Motortrend. It is clear that they didn’t want to upset Lamborghini and perhaps this was intended to be Lambo’s answer to the throttle house vid.

Lambo is a farmer's car, not a racer like Ferrari. It's so bad that they won't even put the Model X Plaid in the Race.

Well, if you're gonna change the parameters of the race, what about making the race shorter when an ICE beats an EV? 😜🤣
Why not do the slalom or acceleration tests with the same driver ? Lets find ways that we can make the Rivian lose. No one is cross shopping these 2 cars. Rivian is the better car. For the same price, get a Rivian R1s and a 911 over the Urus.

Would be a lot more fair if the guy driving the Rivian had any idea how to launch it. Every single launch was terrible, but you have the guy driving the urus using the launch control.

I have the R1S quad motor and there is a big delay on throttle. Much more than my 1.8sec slower tesla. IMO they need to update the throttle response
Sport, press and hold brake and gass at the same time, let off brake, launch mode.

Noticed that during my test drives. Throttle response most likely intentionally tuned to soft initial launch. Weight and higher CG might cause wheels to spin and vehicle slide?
Would be interesting to compare the R1T vs R1S throttle response. I suspect R1T is quicker.

Lol!!! It's to show how much capable other vehicle is! Why do you even have speed limit with over 835hp!? The urus has barely 640hp with significantly much higher speeds.
The tesla models plaid does 200mph ish with over 1000hp while the Bentley flying spur with about 640hp does about 211mph stock

Actually no. The Urus only gets 277 miles range the R1S over 320. First one to the station is the Urus. My station for my R1T is at the house so i juice up at night. Never use the station haha
