The next on the Korn journey could be "Thoughtless", "Blind" or "Rotting in Vain", which was even nominated for a Grammy.

2:56 that buzzing is a fuzz pedal being used by Fieldy the bassist of korn if im not mistaken . They love experimenting with different effect pedals for different sounds to give pff different vibes, of course with fieldys style of playing is pf course way different than you'd ever see already from your average Bassist lol he loves his slaps and with his specific tones of no mids etc , provides that very specific percussive clank you hear in most older korn songs, it may sound like the drums or other percussive instruments ( its what i thought for years lol) but that is indeed Fieldy slapping his bass with the fuzz pedal there in here. Will never get tired of his sound in these older albums. It just fits korn like a glove

Yes, they were subsequent singles and videos. Freak on a Leash was the last single off of Follow the Leader, and Falling Away From Me was the first single from Issues.

OMG! YES, JEN! So happy to see you returning to the Korn journey. It's one of my favorite bands. They were the precursors of Nu Metal, a musical genre (my favorite) that was a phenomenon in the late 90s and early 2000s. Jonathan Davis is a survivor. He sings about his pain, trauma and all the psychological and physical violence he suffered, helping many who also went through the same suffering, showing that they were not alone. "Falling Away From Me" is one of those Davis screams, like "Clown", "Hater", the extremely heavy and disturbing "Daddy", among others. Exceptional choice, Jen! I'm going to make a suggestion: Deftones. It's a unique band. Despite starting out in Nu Metal, it is currently impossible to name it. Each song is a masterpiece that makes us travel to another dimension. "Digital Bath" would be an excellent start when entering this Deftones universe, where once you start it, there is no turning back. Its addicting!

Thank you for MOAR KORN!!! Fun fact, Fred Durst directed this video. Thoughtless or Rotting in Vain would be good choices for the next one.

I would love to hear you dive into the voice of Maynard James Keenan. He is the singer of the progressive metal band Tool as well as the lead vocalist for two other amazing bands A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. A great place to dive into Tool are the tracks "The Pot", "Sober" (live 93'), or a personal favorite "The Grudge" (Which is the starting track from Tool's album Laturalus whose title track "Laturalus" is a masterpiece itself that includes utilizing the mathematics of the fibonacci sequence in the lyric syllables, chord structures, and time signatures.) The rest of the Tool Army will surely make other suggestions. As for A Perfect Circle the tracks "Judith" (named after his mother who had suffered a diminished lifestyle after a stroke left her reliant on a wheelchair when he was 11), "The Noose", "Passive", and "Disillusioned" are great places to explore. And lastly some Puscifer tracks to start with would be "The Humbling River", "The Remedy", and "Momma Sed." Please start with Tool and spiral out into the others. Thanks

You might consider checking out some Korn from "Untouchables" (2002) or later. Jonathan was having some issues with his voice before that and, having never taken singing lessons, he brought in a vocal coach to help heal his voice and give him some pointers to sing in a more healthy manner. The results are very noticeable. Songs like "Thoughtless" and "Alone I Break" show a lot more range and clarity than his previous stuff.

Never knew that. I enjoyed his studio sound but hearing him live I thought he sounded terrible and it turned me off wanting to ever hear him live again. Perhaps I just caught him in that point before he sought help with his singing. Who knew lol.

You will be hard pressed to find any songs by "Nu Metal" (which I grew up with this music and never remember referring to it as Nu Metal) bands like Korn, Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, etc. That didnt have a strong back story, meaning or whatever you choose to call it. Those messages are as meaningful and relevant today as it was then.
I know a lot of people wont agree with me but Jonathan Davis loaned his singing voice to Lestat in Queen of the Damned. The songs showcase a broader range to his voice. You can only find the music in the movie. There was some contractual stipulations that said his voice couldnt be used on the soundtrack. At least that was my understanding.
I got to see korn live and his voice is just as good live as recorded.

This is one of those videos I wish people would think harder about before they request it. It’s obviously far darker than “Freak On A Leash”. I’ve seen reactors be upset by this music video. I do understand people are driven to request songs that have a ton of meaning to them. How reactors might take things just needs to be considered. Great analysis as always.
