First of all, merry Christmas, everyone! As for the review, the module videos set me back one week, so I ended up later than usual. Before Thorns Alter, I was already working on a script for Nymph, but Yostar announced that on global she will be delayed in favor of Pepe/Narantuya. At this point, it’s unlikely I’ll have time to cover both, so I’ll probably focus on Narantuya, unless there’s a big demand for a Pepe review instead. Either way, I hope you enjoyed the video and found Thorns Alter to be just as fascinating an operator as I did!
Skill 1 is actually really useful in Specialistknights. The only pther consistent source of healing with the niche is Swire alter S1 and it's really expensive as you can guess One could argue you don't need healing with that and most of the time that's absolutely right but there's cases like with Aak, Lee, or Ascalon where they can't be sustained whatsoever. I used to be unable to use Lee at all because if I needed to heal him, the only healing option would mix with his trait and destroy society as we know it today but now welp, we have him
I wish an alchemist operator with aak like style were there is gambling involve(like healing the enemy, 1 shotting them, debuffs & buffs, teleportation and etc)
wow, i didn't think this would happen so soon but ifrit has been completely powercrept. I had always thought ifrit levels of res debuff was something HG was unlikely to touch because enemy res is softcapped at 90 while enemy def can go as high as they like, making res debuff much more dangerous from a balance perspective because it means no enemy is truly that resistant to arts damage, while high def enemies can make even Wisadel struggle because of its technically unbounded nature. With thornsalter S3 being so easy to use, arts damage is going to be a viable source of damage against every enemy in the game, regardless of statline. I think comparisons to suzuran are kind of silly - his damage amplification comes from resistance reduction, which has always been the role of ifrit, on top of the lack of cc you mentioned in the video. The dps ceiling of arknights is going to be suzuran, thornsalter, saria, reed alter, and logos+quibai dealing over a million damage in a single skill cycle (this is hilariously way more than Wis'adel, since arts damage is by far the better damage source when it comes to breaking records). It's unfortunate we rarely see unique stackable sources of multiplicative damage amplification these days. Saria is truly a gem that slipped through.
Ifrit who almost halving enemy res passively got "completely powercrept" with a skill that has downtime and needs ramp up to be at least close to her debuff numbers? Nice joke. Outside of niche play Ifrit was already powercrept to the ground by Logos and elemental damage combo that didn't give a crap about resistance at all, and if you need highest res debuff for bursting down enemies as fast as possible she's still the best. Nothing changed for her with Thorns alter release.
Fifine A6V, it's a really cheap mic. If I had the money, I would probably take a RØDE NT-USB one, which I've seen is pretty popular and not as expensive as an XLR mic.
HG just couldn't release a "support" operator without slapping enough dps for them to shitstopm most of general content by themselves. Btw alchemists resistance isn't something impressive if you look at their HP. Stat itself maybe be the biggest in the game but it's basically a necessity for them to survive at least some hits. Usually avoiding AK meta oriented channels but your reviews are quite good and informative, thanks for the content.

This is a big fat W for me bc I do no block runs often so I have a bunch of tools to make Thornstar S3 work
Lobster 🦞
Merry Christmas!
1:03 Jesus, put a warning before the W jumpscare!
doctor, thats a rouge wisadel. W is friendly but wisadel will chase you until the end of terra just because you call her wrong
Interesting insight into retaining atk buffs. Thanks for the review.

I've seen a few S3 showcases but didn't think it was anything impressive, until that Ifrit and Volcano comparison. Holyshit.
Amazing analysis
Notice how equipping S3 seems to change all of his animations too

Youre stupid to think ifrit's debuffs would survive

Yeah, the other response said enough, thorns didn't powercreep shit except maybe the freebie of his archetype which is like given
Make reviews of CN operators more often!
weird question but what mic do you use? mine is on its way out

Smallphi posts and its 32 minutes long.
Finally, I can eat dinner.
I need Subtitles . 😢
