Ok, now that this is out, I gotta ask am I the only one that hopes whenever the next part of this storyline, the whole Aegir sharing info and announcing the rest of Terra blows up in their faces? Cuz I can’t help but have a bitter taste in my mouth when they just essentially just tell Terra to just bend the knee to them. Yes, I know it’s to fight the Seaborn but you can’t tell me that in any world that’s supposed to be taken seriously that any nation with a spine is just going to do that especially for a nation they didn’t even know existed? Ulpianus was right, Aegir’s arrogance is way too much for its own good and I need it to be knocked down a peg before I can buy anything progress with em.

How can they ever dominate say Yan, I have a feeling even Ling, alone, with her reality bending "magic" would prove them they are not top of the food chain.
Or Ursus just sends then few Emperor's Blades, not that would be interesting

Nah, the other nations are too stupid/self centered to realize just how large of a threat the Seaborn are.

It is stated and shown multiple times that Ægir isn’t just talking the big talk. They have weapons that far outstrip what Columbia, the most technologically advanced land civilization, even believe possible and their society is united and strong. They are arrogant, yes, but when their warships could very likely delete an Emperor's Blade from existence or plunge a Sui shard into a miniaturized black hole, you can't say their arrogance is unfounded. Afterall, they know of the Collapsals and of the Observers, which is leagues ahead of the vast majority of nations.

The person there is theorized to be "Luo"
One of the Doctor's colleague mention by the Doctor in the ARG tape recording.
It seems that Luo is the creator and person in charge with the Caerula Arbor Project
    This is tape recording mentioned:
    "The Fosterer" , TT 23rd December 228, 02.16
Luo, I'm sorry for not replying to you, but this is a belated good news. The environmental adaptability analysis of the living tissue samples of your kilometer-long friends in the Deep Blue Tree has been completed. According to the analysis results, they can survive the destruction. But they also need a lot of time to become the ship that sows new hope. Luo, please don't think that your success is too late for us, let them live. These beautiful marine creatures don't need to join our destruction. In the future, perhaps they will take a little bit of dust we leave behind and take a step into the cold void.

Thank you! I wasn't entirely sure if I had properly understood the event. Yet this video goes in line with I thought.
Something that may be worth remember: Ulpapi is able to suppress his Seaborne blood, if this can be copied or not is yet to be seen. But this is probably why he agreed to join the many, as they don't know he is immune.

Completely disagree with the Seaborn, simply because it feels to me that you are looking at them from a fundamentally wrong angle. The Seaborn don't simply "get a W" in #IS3, they become far more threatening because the thing at the top of their pecking order is back in action and turning them into the distillation of what they are. No Ishar-mla? No first born at the helm? The fish can stll do things, but they are not at their best and their furthest.
And despite that, there's nothing that can be done about them. While they are at their weakest (beyond theoretically resetting them back before all of their adaptation), nobody can get a win. Not a single thing any of the characters have done has been a real W. They have bought time, explored options, broadened choices. They've made it seem more likely that they might _survive._ It is fundamentally pointless as far as I see it to worry about the Seaborn winning, because they've already won. They only get stronger while no one has any real way to get rid of them. That's the same issue as the Tyranids. There's a big difference between wanting the catharsis of a cool and epic scene in which the bugs get a clear W in a story-important moment, and the reality of the setting that unless the Emperor and his super grandiose godly power can exterminate all of them at the same time, the Imperium is fucked. They never win, they can never win, because they cannot achieve a win. They can kill as many tyranids as they want, it won't matter because the march continues. They can nuke as many hive ships as they went, because if there's still biomass, the swarm has had no actual lose. They can throw as many weapons as they want at the masses, because sooner or later, stuff is gonna stop working. It is the inexorable, unstoppable, unchangeable march of death. Inevitably, unarguable. Until the day a semblance of a permanent solution appears, whether Tyranids or Seaborn, the factions that fought them have gained no Ws. They have gained time, and the faint hope that more time will show the way forward to a real solution, all the while knowing that the enemy grows stronger seemingly without end or limit.
Every day Aegir fails to find that one correct solution while the weakest form of their enemy advances one inch more no matter what they do, they are losing. They are losing and they know it. Which is exactly why the centuries old record of no suicides on Aegir was broken after contact with the Seaborn, and from how it all looks, it'll get a lot darker before it gets bright again.

I'm really eager to see how Seaborns storyline will mend with next Main Story Arc, considering threat from above returning. Perhaps Skadi and Doctor will resolve it by making Skadi heir of We Many but without her turning into catastrophe, and then(if PV-4 actually teased Leviathans flying in the sky) they'll be fighting on our side

Not for nothing, I believe, do we know squat about them. From what they are, to how are they so powerful, to why they do what they do, and if they even possess any real goal to speak of.

The first 17 seconds of this video is one of the best written and delivered intros I've seen, nice.
I enjoyed this event, although it was a strange one; it feels more like a bridge to a larger story than a self-contained one in its own right. As such, it felt like there was a lot of emphasis given to plot points that ultimately proved insignificant in the grand scheme of things (like Avitus, Cassia and Tullia's death) - these little substories were ultimately there to worldbuild Aegir and begin/continue character arcs for Jordi, Irene and Secunda. Even the major boss "fight" was actually just "they talked for a while then the boss walked away and no one stopped it," while the big Milliarium vs Seaborn conflict that the story seemed to build up to ended up being a drawn-out siege that was still in progress at the end. I think that's why the event felt a little unsatisfying. But on the positive side we got some incredible lore about the Aegir, Predecessors and Seaborn, some fun moments and some great characters, old and new. I think the event will age well in hindsight once we see where the story continues, especially if you're right and this is where Arc 3 will go.
I'm not as concerned as you are about the direction of the Seaborn, I think they felt extremely threatening in Under Tides and Stultifera Navis, and the fact that they felt underwhelming as a threat in this event was more because of its nature I mentioned as a "bridge" event. It's there to introduce characters, give information and set up the situation, rather than present a dramatic conflict. Hypergryph have shown before that when they want to really show how threatening an enemy is or how dire the protagonists' situation is, they can do it well while pulling no punches - just look at the recent main story arc, not to mention Babel. I think they'll do fine.

I loved this event. It was the first time I got all the medals and actually cleared out the whole shop. For that AH appreciation. I then read it fully afterwards. I agree that the CotD cult has got to go already. I thought Ulpianus was decent, I'm rly curious what's going to happen with him from now on after that ending. Irene was great as usual, I also liked Underflow quite a bit and their new friendship, I need to E2 her. I rly liked Horatia's announcement to the world. Those moments make the world feel much more alive it's like when sth big happens like in One Piece and the world reacts to it. Nice to see Mumu. Too real about the nice NPC designs like Tullia only to kill them off lol. Also, the Seaborn definitely makes for a good antag. You know when he recognises Kal as AMA-10 and Doctor for who they are you gotta be locked in. Hopefully they add it to Intermezzi for those who miss it. Very nice review as always and keep up the great AK content.

The most interesting thing that will really happen to the Seaborn arc now really is the Unification plan backfiring so hard on Aegis because of how awful they are at socializing and doing PR campaign.
The seaborn written as a threat that can keep taking L and still comeback for another round make them too boring at this point because as mentioned in the vid, them ever taking an actual win is the end of Arknight so they will never be that interesting. The people of Terra being pissed at Aegir though? Now that's a lot more fun.

At the end of this event Ægir reluctantly allows Kal'tsit to act as somewhat of a middle man between Ægir and land civilizations, as long as it doesn’t mire their plans too much. That should help with future negotiations and PR. As for your take on the Seaborn, I don't really agree. I don't see them as losing constantly, because their goals are not to win. Their goals are their continued evolution and existence. Not once have they ever been pushed back in either of these goals, and with the reveal of the first Seaborn I found myself seeing them in an even more dangerous light. The question of what survival is, the survival of civilization or the survival of life, is the question that marks the very soul of the Seaborn. They are not a faction, they are nature taken to its most extreme.

    • @ohthatswild1755

I wonder if Mizuki will play an important role later in the Aegir story line. After all, he was a really important figure in the alternate events in IS 3. @@bionicfactory1 I read his op rec. Apparently Gladiia knows of his existence and is absolutely disgusted about it. But Kalt'sit convinced her to give him a chance in their negotiation. The deal probably had to do with keeping his true identity a secret, since his existence alone would spark controversy amongst everyone. Aegir, Church of the Abyss, and Iberia involved. Right now, Mizuki is under doctor's direct care.

I'm also looking forward to more Ulpianus centered lore... that ending was a friggin cliffhanger, I want to see what would happen to him after joining the Many, esp with his voiceline saying the only way to take down the seaborn is be one of them and find their fatal weakness from within. But also I want to see him thoroughly screwed over physically and mentally like what happened to SN's captain. Perhaps fighting him as a boss even, to mercy kill him or something.

So, and this might be a bit reductive, but the Aegir are this setting's version of Elves?
The comparison is not 1:1 but I feel like them being more advanced than and isolated from the rest of Terra, combined with the arrogance and idea of them being the true successors of the precursers lines up with that.
The other comparison I'd come up with are vulcans, as they also seem to value reason and logic in their sociatal discourse.

I think the tyranids are handled a bit more interesting than how seaborn are handled. They dont have characters who can explain their existence or even have any individuality outside their physical observable effectiveness for the hivemind and making them threatening through sheer power and mystery and the sub faction that follows them are more explained to be consequences of the setting and not explanations of who they are. They may not have many on screen Ws but it’s mostly because their Ws are the complete consumption of a world, so when we get a notable story featuring them winning, than it likely means their presence then and there had massive consequences for the setting.
The seaborn come very close to this and a part of me feels a bit more unease with their fishy, more fleshy imagery to pair with their hivemind ideology, but they do lack the scope of the tyranids to be as effective and while I don’t mind essentially church villains to explain their existence either, I do think they deserve more on screen impacts to show just monstrous and terrifying they can be, we got a bit of it in this event like the first mission with the abyssal hunters in Aegir, but imagining only the small baby fodder doing a bulk of the work in the story doesn’t really help.

@@yojo8667 yeah the nids also got that huge W against the ultramarines at the start of 10th that really cemented they were not a force to be ignored despite not having many on-screen victories
