I used to shoot a pretty decent amount of real estate. I used a flambient technique for the final product. I've since pulled back on the amount that I do and I have found that realtors can't really tell the difference between a flambient and a quality HDR. I stress the word quality. These days I shoot for a select few realtors and only use HDR and they all love it. Makes my life easier as well. You've done a great job of explaining this. It's time consuming but can be worth it depending on your clients. Know both techniques for sure.

But, shooting HDR and flambient increases time on location and editing time. I agree that realtors probably can't tell the difference between HDR and flambient 99% of the time. The extra time just isn't worth it, unless a realtor wants maximum quality and is willing to pay for it.
That's where I landed as well. I can shoot a house today, no matter the size, in less then 45 minutes. Processing is another 45 tops. I have a hard time committing to more than that without a steeper price.

This tutorial is awesome. As a professional editing company, we always appreciate when our photographers are sending Multi Expo Ambient with Flash Images. the quality of the output is so much better and more consistent.
A very good presentation. I really like the way you used lighten mode in combination with low flow % to merge the ambient bracketed layers together. I've never seen it done that way. Thanks.
That was easy to follow and I successfully blended five brackets, one flash and one window pull. Will do this multiple times until I have it all down pat now lol. A good video.
Thanks for the tutorial. Although I noticed the white balance of your flash wasn’t adjusted/yellow, it’s therefore defeating the purpose of the flash layer which is eliminating the colour casts in your ambient exposure. If the flash temperature is adjusted for neutral in Lightroom first then there won’t be as much need to use the replace colour tool afterwards. But thanks again for the great tutorial

Dont know if you do this, but for my Flash shoots, I shoot them in preset K5500 setting. It may help with the overcast of color. Also maybe using an exposdisc may help setting your white balance in your ambient shot.
Thanks. Godox has an app with the XTII flash trigger for remote control of their flash system’s so you don’t need to touch your camera for the flash settings , unfortunately the XPro doesn’t has BT so it doesn’t works with it. Looking forward to your next video .
Bummer! I just had my company buy me both the Godox V1 and a pro trigger. My camera and tripod are older so I end up with a flash exp that’s off from my 3 brackets.
Can you make a quick video about what export settings you use/reccomend for MLS and Print. I learned about the importance of them very late but the could help someone in your audience.

Interesting technique, using the brackets instead of just a single ambient image. I’m going to give this a try. I’ve tried the polarizer on my shoots, after seeing that video a while back and it works well in a lot of situations. Also wonder if you’ve warmed to your mavic 3 since the initial video.

I have JUST one question as I am a newbie to PS. Ok so, I will edit in Lightroom For real estate. When I take it to photo shop I have no clue what document size to pic? That part I get lost at. So these are photos to be sent to an agent. Shot in 4k camera set to the 3.2 aspect. I am concerned that if i pic the wrong size that is will mess the size of the photo up. If you or anyone could shed some light as I have been searching. This is the one thing holding me back from using this as a final edit. Think back to when you started using PS there is a learning curve. THANK You for all your work
Just a silly question, but I'm curious, why you don't set your bracket order to [ - > 0 > + ] so then you have them organized from darkest to brightest? It seems that you are so technical and take care of a lot of details to save just a few seconds sometimes (and I love that of course!), but I noticed that a few times, and I was curious if there is a reason of why you shoot in that mode that has the ambient shot first and then a dark then a bright then the darkest and then the brightest. Thanks!
I really struggle with the brush. It is inconsistent, bleeds all over and results are far from perfect. I wish there was another way to approach exposure blending...

Hey, glad to hear it! Black layer mask will hide the layer you are applying it to and and white mask will not. Just depends on what you are doing and what layer you want to see as you are working.

Hi Mike! Thanks for the tutorials. Which lens will you recommend for real estate photography and videography: the sony Zeiss 16-35mm f.4 or The sigma 14-24mm f2.8 or the Tamron 17-28mm f2.8? Lens to be used with the Sony A7iii. Thanks for your advice!
The Zeiss is a great lens. I owned it and used it for years for both RE photo and video and it served me well. I haven’t used the sigma but I think it’s a very good lens. F/2.8 comes in handy for video especially. It only goes to 24mm which is kind of a bummer. I would go with one of those 2 lenses.
How do you fix shadows that occur from flash on the ceiling fan, furniture, or other parts of a room? I have trouble blending my flash images together when there are multiple shadows from the shots I take and don't know how to fix it. Could you make a video on this, I think a lot of other RE photographers would find it helpful! Thanks!
I think that one thing which is worth noting is don't rearrange the order of your layers after you auto align. Arrange your layer order first, then auto align. It probably dosn't matter as much if you auto bracket, but (for example, not saying you made this mistake) if you need to move your ambient above your flash image, auto align after you do that, not before.

I’m using an older Canon Rebel with crop sensor….which polarizer do you recommend?
@@holly4221 i use a Tiffen one not super expensive and does the job. Never had an issue with it. I think i paid like $35 for it.

I add "Option + Command + A" before "auto align layers", so this action selects all layers then auto aligns them. ;)

What is the lens and the focal length of the kitchen shot?
What format do you export them, PNG or JPG ?
do you ever just do HDR with a flash window pull and do the same color corrections at the end?
Nah, I haven’t ever really done that. If I have the flash set up might as well use it for everything, not just the window.

You need to do a flash shot on either side of the object that’s casting shadows so you can blend them and eliminate the shadow.

Does anyone use just regular Lightroom? Because this just keeps adding up in costs and nothing will allow me to try the photoshop free trial.
Have you tried GIMP? It’s a free photoshop like tool and I’ve been using it for years. Never needed photoshop and never used adobe products at all.
PS and LR are only $10/month.
