  • In this video we look into a question I get asked quite often which is if a speedlight is good enough to use for flambient real estate photography. We are going to put that question to the test in this video in a real life scenario and also compare the speedlight's power to a Godox AD200 Pro strobe.

    Great comparison and information As a lifelong Canon Shooter, I finally woke up one day and divorced my Canon Speedlights and began a long term relationship with Godox Flashes. It's the best photography decision I have made. I currently own the AD200 pro, the V860III and the V1 All I can say is wow. My equipment exceeds my ability...but I'm learning daily. The fact that you can flip the flash head 45 degrees behind you for a reverse bounce flash with both the 860III and V1 is priceless. I'm still learning to handle The Power of The AD200pro. I recommend the Godox Accessory Kit also for the 860 and V1

    Gday Mike. Thanks for all of your great content over the last couple of years. I've found it a great help. I'm a photographer, videographer, mainly in real estate, like yourself. My wife and I do about 85% of 4703 photography in Australia. I'd like to share with you my experience with the godox flash vs AD200 vs AD600. Firstly, for us; mobility is key. We are very busy. It's quite simple. The speedlights slow you down. They don't fit in your pocket but the flash does. You misplace it at least once per shoot lol... Therefore, for us, we are horses for courses people, and use the speedlights regularly, but only because we are doing big coastal, floor to ceiling window houses too these days. In most other situations, the flash is the way to go. An extra minute in post is worth it almost always. Funnily, the trickiest houses for us are the little quirky 'queenslanders' with many doors on every room and verandahs all round. Traditionally very small but with high ceilings and dark colours. We take in 3 godox's and just multi flash all the doorways to save time. Again, Mike, you're a legend. Cheers!!

    I use two Godox TT685 II instead, you can move them around. If one gets damaged it is cheaper to replace it, and for smaller rooms I only use one. However I will try the AD200 for very specific jobs where it might be needed.

    Hi Mike, again your videos a great learning tool for me, Ive been shooting HDR method which has been great, however, in darker scenarios its been harder. Also Ive been meaning to shoot HDR Flash with 5 bracketed fotos, seems interesting just a godox speedstick. I do think that its more work, since you cant do the auto HDR method when the flash is in use and you have to manually move 2 steps up and down.
    What are your thoughts on this, or would you rather just straight forward just go for flambient? When do you decide to go with regular HDR or Flambient, does it have to do with the type of property or your time/hourly rate?
    Thanks again! Great videos, Im a fan.

    • @InsideRealEstatePhotography
      @InsideRealEstatePhotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I usually do flambient on higher end and higher budget shoots where I feel it’s worth the extra effort. I think all these methods are valid and effective and I think it just comes down to preference mostly.

    Am I right in thinking you are activating the camera by pressing the flash button? What camera setting are you using?

    • @InsideRealEstatePhotography
      @InsideRealEstatePhotography  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I’m using a remote to trigger the camera. Adjusting ISO will effect the flash intensity whereas adjusting shutter speed effects the ambient light which is what we are trying to control.

    • @SteveHasACamera
      @SteveHasACamera 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@InsideRealEstatePhotography thanks for the insight. Interesting in what you say about ISO versus shutter. It took me a moment to digest that. So ISO 100 would obviously darken the whole image. But flash would basic stay unaffected with shutter., right? 😁

    Today i shot a dark cafeteria with only one godox speedlight. It was very diffictult to light the whole room. I took like 6 flash pops and somehow managed, but Im still not 100% satisified with the result of the edited photo. When it comes to small rooms one speedlight is enough to light the whole scene.

    Possibly a silly question but.. I already have 2 Wescott FJ400 strobes. Would these be overkill? Or would they work at half power? They aren't the easiest to carry around but not sure i want to buy another flash after buying this pair of 400's.

    • @InsideRealEstatePhotography

  • @elanegraves1811

    1- When using flash, why not kill all of the ambient light? 2- For the window pulls, why do you use the flash and aim it at the window rather than use the ambient image adjusted for the proper exposure? (Maybe I just need to go back and re-watch the other flambient videos :)

    • @InsideRealEstatePhotography
      @InsideRealEstatePhotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You don’t need to kill all the ambient light. You just need to subdue it enough so that the flash can dominate it. Flashing the window allows you to use darken mode in photoshop to quickly apply a window pull. Just using an ambient image would require masking it in which is more labor intensive and time consuming.

    Under 50 houses and my AD200 zone/group button quit. The 600 is just too much for everyday use and one speed light is not my favorite.
