Wool even soaking wet still holds 80% of the heat. What a great older video. I need to get rid of my old timer as edc knife. I want a solid antler handle knife with a gut hook. I could replace my hatchet with a seax. I always need super glue. I got this awesome first aid kit it's o.d. green. Thanks Bear.
I love seeing all the redundancy. I watch Russia Survival for fun, a man who spends a lot of time in the woods. He carries a small handful of long nails wrapped in a little bit of baling wire. Light weight and comes in handy and disposable when traveling through country for extended period of time.
Enjoyed your first vid and this is great. Have been using the same condor pack for a year and no complaints. Like the down to earth way you do your vids and the way they make us think of our own systems. Appreciate the work you put forth.
Absolutely thank you bear you really are a huge resource and we do appreciate you,... No soy involved I promise you 🤞😥😉😂😆😂😂 lololol thank you brother we really do appreciate you out here
Thanks for the idea on the chest rig to counter balance the weight. This really Helps on being able to carry more gear without feeling to much strain. Awsome video
For chiggers: sulfer dusting powder. Keeps chiggers and flees off you. Put in a sock and shake on shoes and lower pant legs. Also put in storage rooms to keep bug and spiders out.
Many well thought out items. Nice presentation in an outside situation. Might encourage a stronger plan for shelter. Things you and I may be able to live with, we have family to be comfortable, resulting in family being part of the solution, not part of the problem. Keep up the videos. Army Survival Vet.
Bear, inventorying and repacking my get home bag (25 miles work day) for winter, where it can get 30 below. Great video. Thanks for the thought "provokement". Appreciate it. Let me know when you're ready to do some real cold weather training. Semper Fi.
19:13 thank you first bug out bag video ive seen in about 50 that mentions and shows the gun cleaning kit! I just made a vid about how important that is!
Very nicely done! It amazes me how few preppers have instant coffee in their bug bags. Your prescription pain pills are also a wise item to have. Sunglasses are probably in your EDC kit. Add a dozen or more high-energy food bars, spare batteries for the headlight, and a poncho or raincoat. Electronic attenuated ear muffs are nice but bulky. The chest rig is inappropriate for a mother-in-law or most other women. Us girls do better with a good padded quick-adjust waist belt, leg-drop pistol holster, leg-drop magazine holder, and elastic suspenders. Suspenders allow you to alternate the weight of your belt gear between your waist to shoulders. 7 mags is way too many for a lady. One in the gun and one spare is enough, especially with a man's man like you as point man. Nice video with many solid recommendations
As an ex paramedic of 30 years and emergency and trauma nurse...an alternative to lots of the trauma dressings and heavy bandages (to save on plastic wrapping and cost) may I suggest sanitary napkins and/or tampons...very absorbent and effective in acting as an obstructive dressing as well as a general trauma dressing (you can use a plastic ziploc bag as a chest seal in a pinch...just make sure you have good tape...also, feminine hygiene pads are useful for their intended purpose if you're bugging out with your wife...🤷♂️ I carry them in my first aid kit to save weight on all the prepackaged stuff...
Get you some Towel Coins and shrink wrap cloths and other stuff you don’t want wet or taking up a lot of space in air. Don’t apologies for the coffee. Caffeine withdrawal can be debilitating. For some, it can feel like a stroke.

other than all the stuff you said about the bag which I also have in OD green, you can also get 2 of that bag for the price of one 5.11 rush 72. Durable, functional, and economical.
Good video! That is a genuine back breaker of a total system, I estimate complete weight of 75-80 lbs. Do You want to trim pounds, save your back & increase mobility? I had my share of humpin' similar load outs....no joy, luckily only 30% disability. But since you have room for it in the truck and you train with it, then keep on rockin'..... As a get home bag it's weighing you down with all the extra Chow. You could probably switch out half the chow for small solar kit, streamline battery needs, and expand comms capability.
Haha I have the full shelter half with poles, stakes and all. But gotta redo my buyout bag due to winter coming up. Water not so friendly in car in winter.
Man i was fixing to harp on you for the bag being so large but at the 6:41 mark...your one of the first preppers survivalist whatever to admit we bag bags and fill them with too much junk we don't need. So have you ever taken this on a mock drill 10 or more and figured what needed to be dropped?
One thing I would advice is practice carrying your BoB. See how long can you walk with it on your back. I’m currently practicing with it and making sure I can go miles before I have to stop. But my bag is 25lbs only.
I have 2 more Cs that should be on the list. Cleaning, so your toilet paper, and comms. Should have some sort of radio for emergencies/ listening to emergency broadcasts.
Suggestion. Pack some bug repellent and easy teis (AKA cable teis ruberband. Not an nesesaty but handy as hell)) made a temporety fix to a pannep fan once with a rubber band.
I suggest field stripping those MREs to get rid of the cardboard on main meal, and put all items horizontal in bag and fold it on on itself to cuz the size in half.
How interesting, you've got everything but the kitchen sink! Are you self-taught was far as medic preps or were you officially trained? Thank you for these videos!

What's your cover setup like in Summer and Winter? You mentioned a wool blanket, but was wondering how you handled sleeping on the ground/hammock, etc.
Sean in winter I take a ranger bag with me as well, in summer I’ve got what you see plus a mosquito net. The wool Blanket functions as a ground pad or emergency blanket as needed.
You're tougher than me then. I still haul around a dedicated ground pad on top of the wool blanket. Also carry the mosquito net; only took one time of dealing with constant bugs in the eyes to remedy that situation. Have a good one.

While this was an interesting video (I did spend 25 minutes of my life watching it) I would recommend anyone seriously considering how to build a bugout kit to go watch the videos posted by Nutnfancy on this subject.
What ive noticed is that i have never seen a sharpening device in a bug out bag. I dont mean a honing stone i mean like a bastard file . Something that can restore a edge to a knife ,restore the tip if need be Sharpen an axe ,a machete stuff like that.
Id replace the rtac2 with an axe. I have an axe thats nice and light and a slim profile but still strong. I almost promise its lighter then your knife. Its better for creating shelter and cutting firewood plus youd have to sharpen the knives blade alot to get those chips outs of the blade after using it for firewood chopping repeatedly. Sure you could use a branch to wack the spine of the blade but that could damage the spine and mess it all up. You dont want huge logs on the fire but you also dont want tiny slivers of wood that you have to keep puttin on the fire over and over which also means less heat. My axe is by THE BONEEDGE. not sure if thats the model or brand. Extremely sharp with polymer handle wrapped in paracord.
You could cut down sooooo much weight.. I’d get rid of the rifle cleaning rod and replace it with a bore snake which is practically weightless. The hard plastic case with the lures and string I’d replace that with a maxpedition mini pouch makes that smaller more condensed but cuts some weight. I’d ditch the peanut butter lots of weight and not a sustainable calorie option I’d replace that with either another MRE or a couple mountain houses meals (again practically weightless) Also the bag I’d replace it with a pack that has and external frame or at the very least an internal frame. Doing a 10 mile hike um and down hill with a frameless pack suckssss so bad.
oh please stop with that. I have a condor plate carrier that has 4 years of hard use, meaning rucking/running 3-4 times per week, plus weekend training events- probably has 100 FTXs on it, and it's still like new. This bag has 1000 miles on it loaded with 50-70 pounds and it's like new as well.
@@BearIndependent I concur. Condor certainly is not the best gear that can be found, but it is much better than what most people think. I'm pretty convinced that half of the people who dog Condor gear have never used any of it, but are just regurgitating what they have heard from others who have never used the brand. I own several items made by Condor and have never had a problem with any of them; and I use them hard on a regular basis.
I would highly disagree that’s airsoft gear but not good quality. I have a very early Condor back that has been used from working at ground Zero to Katrina to the wildfires in California and I will be leaving with it for Puerto Rico on Friday. Donely thing that’s wrong with it is the color has started to fade and lost some color because of the times I’ve washed it. They have been in business for over 20 years can’t remember the name they use to go by before they officially became condor outdoors. But they made a lot of camping gear early on.
i love people who use the term "bug out bag" if i am "bugging out" i am not looking to get found, to many people using the term for evacuating a city for a tornado/hurricane/flood. at that point its a survival bag till someone finds me.
Bug out to where? Unless you have a place already set up, your back gear will not last forever. Call it a Get home bag. That is where all your stuff is.
pack should weigh 20 percent of body weight? tell that to my CO when he had us on 20 kilometer ruck marches carrying 60 pound rucks and i was only 185 pounds lol.

Janis Patrick ya know, there’s actually about 50 feet of duct tape wrapped around an old gift card in the outside top pocket of the pack. I neglected to pull it out on film. Good catch though! Thanks for the comment. Welcome to the tribe’
Bugout bag can be loaded in 5 to ten minutes tell everyone to grab a pillowcase duffel bag backpack load your bag food blankets were jacket and stuff you want this is a training drill then have everyone dump it out and see what you need redundancy is a sales gimmick it will break the camel's back it's not a fashion show p
Very helpful, just what I'd expect from you. I started my bug out bag recently , now I'm ready to finish it and start my wife's.

Either; black is better in urban/suburban. Brown is better in rural.
Do you guys have problems with pmag lips spreading/failing? I don’t use the lip protectors because the loaded mags are in a chest rig/rifle

Try using dehydrated peanut butter, it works great

Is there a way to get a full check list from you on all items?
A lot of people dont think about survival items
Silverio Vargas a lot of people aren’t gonna make it out, brother. Sad but true.
What's your thought on the condor Orion assault pack?
Is there such a thing as an EDC for a 12 year old middle school student, that won’t get them arrested. I am totally ok with being called to the office to explain the bag. I want her to be prepared too if I am not able to get to her in minutes.

Ik this is old but can it hold a rifle/shot gun on the side? If needed
TJ what does that whole rig weigh . . . chest rig, long gun, EDC plus BOB . . .? I'm thinking you're at 60+ pounds man . .
Thanks man👍
You're welcome.
I like the knife but if your trying to cut threw even a small tree you will need a saw you should get a silky gomboy saw
What ive noticed is that i have never seen a sharpening device in a bug out bag.
I dont mean a honing stone i mean like a bastard file .
Something that can restore a edge to a knife ,restore the tip if need be
Sharpen an axe ,a machete stuff like that.
the right way of building a bugout bag is to get the gear first then get the back that'll carry it.
