I know some people don’t like the philosophy part of videos, but it helps me get an idea of the mind set of the person making it and why they put certain things in bags, kits and setups. Thanks for sharing! -Jerome
Brother I was like...why would anyone subject their selves to 150 goats. Really like the interaction between you and your son. Your influence on him is very obvious. Great video, Thank You.
Oh my gosh thank.you for the video. I wrote everything down. I just started prepping mine and My hubs bags, and going to.go buy my kids each one. I appreciate all the info and the time you and your kiddo took to make a video. And i wouldn't of even thought about a steel bottle. And dang I can't believe all that fit in yalls babies bag. 20% of their body weight right?
Nice bag for your son. I made similar bags for my grandkids, a boy and a girl twins. They are in Oregon now, but the both know how to use the items in their bags. A medicine bottle works nicely for 22 cal ammo too.
I take my son loves the outdoors. We go to camp Shelby hunting all winter, during the summer we r constantly learning and covering new ground. Its an army base. We love it. A lor of people hunt it, but the dont know the roads or the miles and miles of woods, where the creeks and streams are or what things lead to. So we are constantly learning. But we live in mississippi and it's our everyday life, I teach him what my father taught taught me.
Suggest cover blanket to stop it getting wet. Didn't see any spare clothing or mini first aid kit or tarp for shelter. Swap tins for packet food lighter and takes up less space. Concerned that a 9 years has bullets in his bag. Definitely not done in UK.
Oh no one ever thinks of this but why does no one ever think about bringing a kit to make alcohol in the field? Rather you're trying to make wine from native fruits and berries honey or whatever or even trying to make moonshine Alcohol has been traditionally used by sailors to disinfect water Captain would issue out a portion of alcohol to go with a portion of water and the alcohol would kill anything inside the water obviously this isn't for a kids pack but it could make it very useful adult pack to have a wine making kit And for something long-term to make sure you're able to have materials to make wine, you can throw Berry seeds into the pack berries grow pretty quickly so you can always grow them after a few weeks of being at a long-term base camp
I think there's one thing that should be changed in this. Obviously your kids are 11 by this point, but it's a good little note. Not all steel bottles are made the same. If they're double layered which a lot of met al water bottles are it could have a pressure explosion if you put that metal case directly into a fire Also, water bottles and things like that should be more on your waist than in your pack because if you need to run quickly, the best thing you can do is drop your pack. But you'll still want a few things on you like your reusable water bottle. So my ideal balance a water that can be on your belt and can be thrown into a fire pit is a old school full metal canteen WW2 technology is still good today The only downside it's on the heavy side but I think it's worth it just because it's infinitely reusable Also, some people don't think of reusable or multifunction water disinfectant. It's liquor. It's an old sailor's technique they use to purify water with rum or beer or whatever they had. Rum was the most popular disinfectant for water for sailors in the Caribbean because it was easy to make there
Goats always get themselves into stupid trouble & get themselves killed over the craziest stuff. For food, I'd go w/ sheep, dairy, get u 1 or 2 good milk cows. That's what I'd do. Goats are great for clearing your land off & yes they'll even eat poison ivy w/out any problems but I'm not sold on them cute little troublesome buggers...lol...I knew ppl who had goats, notice the word...HAD, LOL. They are sheep ppl now. And they are less trouble, more meat, & taste better than goat too. I was told by them tho, that there is a certain type of sheep to get cuz if they come from the type that have been use to being antibiotic-fed parentanage then u have to stay w/ that, they can't be just hay fed cuz they'll die. And that breed IS larger in size but if u want the healthier then go w/ the smaller grass fed type. I can't remember the name of them. Just my opinion & advice. I pray Yahweh continues to bless you all.

I cheap multitool would be useful. If nothing else it could be used to get the water bottle out of the fire when purifying

I keep a 500 rd box of 22 thunderbolt taped up in every one of our bags. Not really that heavy, but added up, its enough ammo for a long time

His sons bag is better then my camping bag I take I'm jealous.
And you should do a video of one of your children giving a practical application class on the water filter
Doug .Brown I’ll add that to my list of show notes! Also- stay tuned, another long-overdue requested video is about to be uploaded...!
Thanks a Ton!!! Found the videos you mentioned.
A good man teaching your kids to become good men and women. Good to see when so many of our young people are so well educated and are so very foolish.
