    Nice looking '67!! Yes, the Hurst shifter could be had as a factory thing, this example is called a 'his/hers' shifter because you can see 2 different 'gate' patterns(left & right side.
    Tiger gold with a black vinyl top, buckets, console, & a/C, it was sweet ride for high school!
    Gotta disagree on the wheels though.

      And the sad part is this is a very solid project! Lol! It's not like it would be super hard to get going again 🤦‍♀️ I could have the motor and transmission popped in there and wired up in a weekend! Lol. I mean this car looks like it has practically zero rust..... And these Pontiacs loved to rust! So that tells you a lot! I mean I could understand the guy not bothering putting it back together if it was a complete basket case that needed quarter panels, floor pans, and everything else...... But there's just no excuse for letting this one sit there and rot! 🙄 A three-year-old could put this goat back together! 🤦‍♀️🤣

    My brother had a "66" Le Mans when I was in college. It had a 3 -speed stick on the floor with a 326 engine.
    I loved that car. He let me keep in one weekend. I was about 19. Felt like a real bigshot for two days. In later years I had a "70" Dodge Challenger convertible with a 383 high performance engine. I miss that car. It was stolen in Phoenix in 1976. What a ride!

    My first car was a 66 Tempest. It was in excellent condition until I hit a pole driving to school in snow at 17 yrs old, in 1980. Broke the Trans case on the median & leaked out. I made it about a mile from my house & neighborhood punks busted the drivers side windows & rear window out. I even rebuilt the motor at 15 yrs old with a buddy's help. Yeah, I miss that one bad.

    I have a friend that has a 67 exactly like this one! Gold with black vynal top, black interior, automatic with a/c! That shifter is called a slap stick or dual gate shifter! If you put it over in the right Grove you can hit the shifter each time you want to shift gears! It's kinda like a manual in an automatic Trans! It's for racing! I've owned a black 67 like this!

    67 GTO, A-body GM excellence. I have a 67 Chevelle, have had her for like 36 years now. That rear roofline on the sides of the rear windshield are called the "flying buttress" rooflines, very sexy. Yes, my 67 Chevelle has the same roofline. Lovely. Too bad that GTO has apparently just been left to waste away. It appears to still have it's original California black plates as well. Someone needs to rescue that thing! Yes, as others have said, that's a stock shifter, Hurst Dual-Gate. I had one that I was going to put in my 67 Chevelle, but someone offered me a good chunk of change for it a few years ago, and it's gone now. Man, that GTO needs to be saved!

    @garychiuminatto917 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Was pretty sure it was a 67 also. 66/67 two of my favorite years. Beautiful body style. I wasn’t much on the Judge body style. As stated before, all the muscle cars came stock with drum brakes, some had an option for front disc but they weren’t standard until day 69 or 70. I own a 66 Charger with non power 4 wheel drum brakes and have no trouble stopping it. If they are maintained and kept adjusted they work great. The only advantage to disc brakes is they dissipate heat better and tend to work better when wet. The heat factor only comes into play if you have repeated hard stops. The drums will then start to fade. Those of us that grew up with them know that and the only time I can think that might happen is if you are racing someone. Us older muscle car owners don’t go around proving our car is faster than your car. That’s kids stuff and we realize racing is only safe at the strip not on the street. Yes I’ve had my Charger up to 130mph but not in town, out on an open highway with almost no traffic. I agree with another commenter. It’s amazing how much the younger generation doesn’t know about cars, like the manufactured date on the taillights. I f you really want to know about cars the internet has a wealth of information. It’s a beautiful car but someone with a lot of money will only be able to get it back to very good condition and not show quality. That is of course if they can’t do most of what it needs themselves.

      That date is the first year that the DOT approved the light for use. It is NOT the year of the vehicle and should not be used for that purpose. To give you an example, you could look at a 1970 Firebird side marker light and a 1981 Firebird sidemarker light and both say "70 DOT" on them since the same part was used from 1970-1981. You'd be over a decade of potentially using that as a guide.
      Use the VIN and cowl tags to determine the year.

      The 1967 GTO had an AM/FM Radio with 8 track tape player with multiplex. 8 tacks players were available as early as 1965 in Fords
      Cassette players were not available until 1970.

    It should be a crime to let a car like that sit for years if your not gonna get it running..one of those we will fix it one of these days as it rots away being under a tree isnt a good place as leaves fall down & get trapped in areas & speed up the rot process

    Definitely a factory shifter. The real name is a Dual Gate shifter. Pontiac put Hurst shifters in lots of their cars for lots of years. And I can gaurentee you your friends father didn't pay $ 1800 for it new. More like $ 4000.
