Thanks for referring Pop Culture Zone for pressing. Got my first shipment back and extremely happy with the results! Cross my fingers with future 9.8’s!
Awesome!
Thanks Chris another great Video
Thanks, Shaun!
Nicely put. Good details.
Thanks for watching!
Great video lot to learn to press a books correctly
Thank you!
Now what !!! Blue beetle 10/10 ha!
Nice!
I want that ASM book 📕 Chris !
With centerfold pop you made the grade go down by pressing and popping the staple
Fixing the spine role made the grade go up higher than what will be taken down for the staple. Meaning, the book is still going to grade higher than if I never fixed the spine roll.
Can you list your materials for cleaning and pressing?
I actually did a video where I go deep into cleaning and explaining more of the materials process. Go under my playlist about tips for collectors and you should be able to find it.
Any possible way to restaple with the original staple or is it impossible with spine paper damage holes that exist?
Definitely don't want to try to pull the staple out and put back in. Could be seen as restoration. And yes, the staple holes already were ripped, which made it easy for the staple to become loose.
Great work brother, I was wondering if you’ve ever come across books where the front of the spine is folded onto the back cover? And if so does this method work the same for it?
I wonder if you used backing boards to raise the open book to the height of the staples if that would prevent staples from popping?
Very good point and your right, or, I could have removed the steel plate in order to give the staple more of a cushion to sit on.
Jerno: Excellent video and very well explained. Well done! One question, when you pressed the book down on the front cover, I assume same heating at 175 and 6 minutes or so of pressing. Then a 3 day cool down in the press.
Thanks for watching!
Sorry, didn't see the question at first! So yes, I always use the same temperature for newsstock paged books (modern books with magazine paper gets a lower temp). And for each heat press, I do a 24 cold press.
@@JernosComicsPopCulture Thanks for response. Cheers
So you traded a spine roll for a popped staple? How is that not a decrease in value ,??
Because the staple is still intact and ultimately the page condition around the staple was already loose. That level of spine roll can drop a book from being in the Fine range to being in the GD/VG range, where the staple might knock the books overall grade down only one or two grade points.
Should title the video, "how to ruin a perfectly good comic with amateur restoration skills"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ohh you're adorable. Want to be a guest on my next live stream? Hit me up on IG.
