- I put higher voltage on christmas animatronics/toys primarily using a 0-30V bench power supply. But some toys required even more voltage to die! Used a Variac with a full bridge rectifier (input 230V) when I needed more than 30V.

In the late 80s, there were the first animatronic Santas, who would seay gently from side to side, holding a Christmas tree or candle. One of those would look funny sped up, as long as he wasn't destroyed. The snowman appeared to have the same mechanism as toy crabs, and the Santa in the sack must have had the same mechanism as those peek-a-boo bears.

My favorite part of most of these videos is seeing how and when the sound in these toys is lost. This video pleased me very well in that field, especially with when the dancing Christmas tree went way up in pitch and then suddenly died, almost like it was getting sucked by a black hole.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised how bad the audio quality was in general on most of them (at least all the cheap Temu toys). Very cheap and minimal circuits...
Most of these toys probably cost like $1.
